Always holding my paycheck for 10 days ridiculous

Worst customer service, Bank of America would always refund any fees. Like a bounced check for $20. This stupid bank bounced my check and redeposited it and charged me $40 and refused refund! Then they said to close my account I would have to mail a notarized form. Morons. 100 banks all give better rates. DO NOT USE THEM!

Great bank with phenomenal customer service. Good location and plenty of parking. No fee checking and good interest in deposits.

DO NOT OPEN A BUSINESS ACCOUNT WITH THEM! My husband opened one recently and every check he's deposited has had a hold of over a week put on it. How is he supposed to buy materials for jobs, pay bills and employees when they are holding his income hostage? We switched from Chase...guess we're switching back. I can't believe they are allowed to hold your money like that! Checks are all cleared, they just feel like holding onto to them! That's criminal. I'd give zero stars if it were possible.

I go to this bank every week to cash my paycheck Today I get a new person this morning That does not know me Asked for my ID I said his coworkers could vouch for me Takes my ID leaves the counter go to a cubicle makes me wait longer Comes back behind the counter processes my check cash is my check and proceeds to hold on to my money until he explained to me Did I ask for an explanation did I want an explanation why are you talking to me Give me my money and let me leave At a very elevated voice because You made me Is upset and angry that you would hold on to my money and keep me in your bank longer than I wanted to be there No stars for this bank

Terrible customer service. They did not want to accept coins to deposit into my child's savings account at 4:30pm saying the coin counter was closed. The whole point of a bank is to do monetary transactions. Why would you 'close' the coin counter before the bank actually closes for the day.

I have been a commercial customer for the past ten years and this bank has been constantly changing everything, they just completely changed the way they make their statements and it has become so confusing to understand. If you want to open an account here, don't, I am just saving your time. The people that may work at this location are helpful but the upper management is absolutely terrible and unaccommodating. I am just hoping to finally change banks so I don't not have to deal with this anymore. It gets so frustrating when I have been with them for 10 years and the last two years everything has constantly been changing and not making sense.

Terrible customer service. I have a business account and they won't accept my coins that I wrapped up. Lazy teller wants me to break the wrappers. I will be finding a new local bank to conduct my business. This bank is horrible, don't let the new construction fool you.

Do not use this bank if you want access to your money. I have been a long time customer of Kearny Bank for over 5 years now. Throughout my time being a customer I can say it was nothing short of awful. They put these blocks on your cards without permission not allowing me to use MY own money. This has happened over 5 times now and the worst part is that I have I spoken with so many branch representatives and all I was given was an attitude and no help. They push you to call this hotline that doesn’t ever work and expect you to have no access to your funds. If I could rate it a 0 I would. Especially the Kearny location. Can’t wait to close my account and go to a bank that actually respects their customers and values their business.

This bank is the WORST. Never sends letter letting you now you have a CD maturing until well after the fact. When I brought notice in showing the Assistant Branch Manager at Pine Brook location that the letter sent was dated 2 weeks after it came due she wouldn't even look at it . She couldn't care less. Nasty and Rude . DO NOT deal with this bank. I had another account that went dormant even though I was doing online transactions. They say that online activity does not qualify as activity. Nine times out of ten the ATM machines don't work. Right before the Montville branch closed (gee I wonder why it closed) I went in to close a CD that came due. The woman who helped me had piles of mess scattered all over her desk with other customers personal information in clear sight for me to view. My mother got another customers statement mailed to her. When she called to complain they just blamed it on the company who does their mailing, again they couldn't care less. I've even taken money out and put in other banks for lower interest rates just to get the hell away from this disastrous bank.

They do have a t.v to watch while you wait, why they get 1 star as opposed to none. If you have an acct here you may be treated semi pleasantly, if you don't then expect nasty tellers and nasty managers to back them up. Have accts in 2 other banks, no issues, pleasant, helpful. Here you are treated with scorn at a whim. The way to attract new business it to be helpful to customers who bank elsewhere. Try to earn their business. People here need training in social interaction and perhaps some marketing and social skills. Never open an acct here!

I had accounts before with City, Chase, HSBC and Provident Bank. I switched to get better rate on accounts and better service I expected from small bank. I was totally wrong. I opened personal checking and business accounts almost two months ago. Till now I can't complete online and mobile account set up. I consider myself as advanced user and work myself in software development for many years. Nothing works here as with my previous banks. If you think you just need to sign up online you are wrong. I have to call and wait while someone emails me special passwords and procedures to activate my accounts. You are happy if you call and get live rep on the phone. Most of time you have to call and record your contact info. Then wait when someone from customer support will call you back when you are right in the middle of meetings and cannot pick up the call. I already have a bunch of checks to deposit to business account but my business mobile app still wait some type of interaction with back office and nobody returned my calls from the bank. Never had such nonsense with online or mobile systems in my life. I deeply regret that I decided to switch from Provident to Kearny Bank. P.S. The bank finally assigned a person to help me to complete set up. We have tested the bank mobile app on Galaxy S7 and S9. Still doesn't work on any phone and they have no idea how to make it work. What kind of IT they have ?

following is an edited version of an email i've sent to kearny corporate and local. approx. 8 people. i have NEVER received a response to anything my entire time banking there. then i had an issue where a resolution was mandatory. i had to file a complaint with DOBI. (department of banking and insurance). kearny finally responded. but that woman stopped communicating before resolving one of my problems. she went on vacation. that was about a month ago. my e-mail: I had an account at the ***** location. I kept over $20,000.00 in it consistently. I have never had such poor customer service, especially from a bank who has so much of my money. Following are my experiences: - Around September, 2018, I called and explained to the woman who answered the phone that I was unable to utilize my debit card 10 times (one of the criteria of earning the 3% interest). I think I had used it 9 times, and of course met the other criteria. I explained that I had been seriously injured and was in a wheelchair and wondered if the bank would honor the interest rate for the one month, considering my hardship. She said she would call me back but did not. - I called again and reached the "manager". I repeated my story. Her response was no. "We will not help you with this, because if we do that for you we would have to do that for every person in your predicament." Oh my god. - I sent her a couple of emails asking for the name of a superior but I didn't hear back. - I sent several pieces of correspondence through my on line account under "contact us". Never, once, have I had a response. - I did a review on "yelp". Somebody responded! He/she left an email address. I sent a couple of emails. Never received a response. - I said in several emails to several people that if I didn't get a response, I would close my account. I never received a response. - I walked into the branch a couple of weeks ago to close my account. Clerk asked why and I told her some portion of the above. She apologized. - Manager was there. I asked her if she had been receiving my emails. She barked at me that I should go look at her computer. Oh my god. You have a branch manager debating a customer, and inviting a customer to sit at her desk and look at her computer. In a bank!!! Imagine the information I could have collected. When I declined, she walked off in a huff. - Before I left I informed her that her response to me was unprofessional. Again, she barked at me to help myself to her computer. Oh my god. I said "unprofessional response #2". That really pissed her off and she threw her arms up in the air. Everybody saw it. It boggles the mind to think she's a leader... in a business that is normally all about customer service. I then took my money to split it up between 2 competing banks. What interested me was the greeting skills and the tellers and managers at both banks could not be nicer. That was before they knew how much money I was depositing. They said hello. They made eye contact. They smiled. They were over-the-top nice. I NEVER received that at Kearny. The few times i had to walk into Kearny, before my accident, I was met with zero personalities, warmth, etc.
