The experience with this bank was astonishing. I came here with my mother-in-law, who is an account holder of over 20+ years. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the assistant manager Madonna which was extremely hospitable & helpful in getting her taken care of.The branch supervisor Barbara, did great in getting matters sorted out for us & making sure that we were informed of all things dealing with the account.While there, I personally saw Madonna handle several unpleasant customers with the greatest & most professional of mannerisms.Definitely round of applause to this Branch.I trust them with all of her banking needs & can tell that all upcoming customers moving forward will be in good hands.Go Northfield!!!

NORTHFIELD BANK IN LINDEN NJ ON WOOD AVENUE REFUSED TO CASH MY CREDIT UNION CHECK ON SATURDAY AUGUST 12TH2023.THEY ASKED ME FOR TWO FORMS OF ID SO I GAVE THEM COUNTY ID, DRIVERS LICENSE (THE REAL ID ONE), AND MY SANTANDER AND PNC BANK CARDS. AFTER 10 MINUTES THE TELLER ASKED ME HAD I EVER CASHED A CHECK THERE I SAID YES ABOUT FOUR TIMES AND EACH TIME THERE IS A PROBLEM WHERE IM WAITING 15 MINUTES OF MORE. SHE ASKED IF I KNEW WHEN I SAID NO I USUALLY GET A CHECK AND HOLD IT FOR A WHILE. THIS TIME HELD ME AT THE DRIVEUP WINDOW FOR APPROXIAMATELY 27 MINUTES COMING TO THE WINDOW TO TELL ME THAT CANT VERIFY THE CHECK AND I WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY WHEN THEY CAN REACH SOMEONE IN THE CREDIT UNION. flora was the the teller and BARBARA WAS THE MANAGER THAT TOLD ME IT IS MY CREDIT UNION POLICY TO HAVE THE CHECKS VERIFIED. I ASKED FOR THE PRINTOUT OF THE POLICY BARABRA TOLD ME ITS PRIVATE. THEN I MENTION THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN THE CONTRACT KNOWING COUNTY OFFICES ARE CLOSED ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS. THEN I SAID ANOTHER COWORKER WAS JUST HERE AND I KNEW SHE CASHED A CREDIT UNION CHECK. WHEN I SAID THE WORKERS NAME NOW BARBARA WANTS TO CASH MY CHECK. I REFUSED AND TOLD HER NO, I THEN MADE HER LISTEN TO MY AUTOMATIC CREDIT UNION STATUS WITH ME KEYING IN MY NUMBERS TO HER THAT I WAS ISSUED A CHECK WITHDRAWAL ON AUGUST 8TH FOR $550. NOW BARBARA WANT TO CASH MY CHECK IT WILL ONLY TAKES SECONDS SHE TELLS ME. I TOLD HER NO YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND I WILL NOTIFY MY COWORKERS OVER 400 THAT THEY CANT COME HERE ON A SATURDAY TO CASH THEIR CHECKS. TODAY IS MONDAY I CALLED MY CREDIT UNION. AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BANK REACHED OUT AND GOT TO SOMEONE WHO WAS ON VACATION IN FLORIDA AND HE WAS ASKED DID THE CEMPLOYEE HAVE CREDITIALS THAT MATCHED THE CHECK THEN PAY HER. NEEDLESS TO SAY BARBARA NEVER TOLD ME THAT AND THE CREDIT UNION STATED THEY DONT HAVE A POLICY IN PLACE THAT EACH CHECK HAS TO BE VERIFIED. THATS IS THAT BANKS POLICY. YET I CAN GO TO THE NORTHFIELD ON MORRIS AVE UNION NJ AND GET MY CREDIT UNION CHECKS CASHED WITH NO PROBLEM. SO WAS I RACIALLY PROFILED.MONDAY 8/14/23I JUST MET WITH THE REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT AND SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF GOVERNMENT BANKING AT THE WOOD AVE BRANCH. THEY WERE EXCEPTIONALLY CORDIAL AND I TRULY FEEL TOTALLY EMBARRASSED ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE ON SATURDAY. THEY EXPLAINED IT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, AND THINGS THAT WERE SAID TO ME WERE NOT EXACTLY CORRECT. I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE BEEN SEEN AND HEARD. I always have a good experience at the bank I've been with for 54 years, but I miss their 7 day week, when they were open also Sundays.
