I called yesterday afternoon to ask if they would fully charge their 2015 Chevrolet Volt and allow me to test drive it to battery depletion to see how many miles I got on battery. I've been looking for a Volt for a while and found that to be the only way to be sure of the battery's health. Some of them can pass all codes yet deliver less than a mile of actual battery range.The guy told me enthusiastically that they had just gotten the Volt back from detail, and said yes I could do that battery range test, and that they'd have it fully charged up for me. The next day we drove the 28 miles to the dealership to find that in fact it was not charged up, and the reason for this was that they did not even have a charger for it! They had my cell phone number but had not bothered to inform me of this until I was there.I also noticed a lot of paint chipping, with a lot if it at the driver door edge. That's odd because dealership detailing normally includes paint touch-up. Normally you don't see any paint chips at a dealership on a car that has gone through detail. I've done enough auto paint touch-up myself to know that door edges are easy, and do a LOT to improve the car's appearance, and are usually well-chipped after many thousands of miles, so they're basically the low-hanging fruit of touch-up paint; no reason to not do it.He suggested that they might be able to find a charger and charge it up while I waited. I explaned that the Volt takes 10-11 hours to charge on 120 or 4 hours on 240, and cannot charge faster than that like a Tesla can.My wife and I decided that it would make sense to go ahead and do a normal test drive anyway, so as to rule it out if there were any non-battery dealbreakers.So we got into the driver's seat, and I immediately noticed a lot of mold on the seatbelt. Now, I've had mold on seatbelts years ago on a car which had child restraint seats in place all the time for years. Juice and whatever got spilled, didn't have enough ventilation to dry out, and molded. On that car, I first wiped the mold off, then used color-safe bleach to get rid of it.On this Volt's seatbelts, the mold was thicker than it had been on our old car. Obviously not even wiped down.My wife looked at her seatbelt on the passenger side and annouced that it was disgusting, and got out and went to look for the bathroom to wash her hands. I told the salesperson, "I think we're done here", and got out. I went inside to wait for my wife.When she got out, there was something dark all over her right cheek, which I hadn't seen until then. It was mold from the seatbelt. She went back in to wash it off; she had been so focused on cleaning the mold off of her hands that she hadn't looked at her face in the mirror.The only other person there, who seemed to be the manager, came over and said that the Volt had just gotten back from detail.When she came out, she said that she had to wash her face with soap to get the mold off; water alone wasn't enough.So...do you think that car went through detail? Because if it did, they should fire their detailers. Or is it more likely that it did not go through detail at all, and they just say that to make their cars seem more desirable?Anyway, this dealership is permanently crossed off of our list. If you go there, watch out for those seatbelts!

Terrible mistake buying a car from them. They will low ball your trade, they will charge thousands in extra fees, and when you have a problem you're on your own. Wish I'd never set foot on that lot. Beware!
