My family stayed here and it was a horrible experience. Firstly, I spoke to a lady and she refused to let my family check in as I was listed as a guest but they were also listed as a guest and I had to call hilton customer service and confirm that they will be able to check in as they will arrive first. This lady refused no matter what to check in and then she contacted someone and finally let my family member check in who was also on the reservation.
This lady at the front desk is so rude and made our experience unpleasant.
As of the rooms, there were cockroaches and spiders and was not expected as I never had this experience at hilton. Not only the service is bad but the rooms are old outdated and filthy with little creatures. This is unacceptable and then they have the nerve to give customers attitude and rude behavior. Unprofessional. I think the manager Besmona Young needs to do better here and treat customers with respect and needs to take action on these filthy outdated rooms and bugs in the room is unacceptable.
My uncle also left something and they said they dont have it and im sure someone either took it or threw it away.
Stay away from this place. And save your money for something better.

I’ve never been so disappointed with Double Tree, it is not only outdated, overpriced, the manager clearly doesn’t care about the rights for people staying at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel to find out there is an event going on at their event room. We thought maybe the music would stop around 10pm, however, the excessive, prolonged loud music that trembles the floor continued after 12am midnight. We called the front desk earlier and got an answer saying the party would end at 11:20pm. We later on tried to call the front desk but no one answers. The hotel manager clearly has no regard for their guests staying overnight as long as someone else pays them more money.

Friendly staff but the hotel itself is in dire need of an upgrade. It served its purpose but, next time we’ll pick another spot.

Pretty bummed about this hotel. I've stayed at 2 other DoubleTree's in the past year and those were great. This was extremely sub-par and I chose it based on how great the other 2 had been. Tired, dated, extremely in need of a facelift/repairs. The stairwell exit door to the parking lot does not lock. Check in staff, not friendly. No hello, no thanks, no have a good night, nothing. Bed was comfortable and clean.

This hotel is begging for a remodel. Don't be fooled by the pictures they post. The elevator was down for the week.

My boyfriend and I were staying here for a week on a work visit, and I didn’t have any issues with my stay.
There’s a big parking lot, they’re actively doing renovations to make things better, and I got a cookie when I walked in!
The stairwell was accessible, and even though there were elevator issues (elevators everywhere break down pretty often so I’m not shocked by it) I didn’t mind taking the stairs. The floors aren’t hard to navigate and since there are two elevators, when one stopped working we just hopped on the other one.
I loved the small gym area. It was quiet and just enough for my workout routine. There are tvs and it’s kept air conditioned for when you break a sweat. Towel stand was perfect and I wiped down my surfaces with the disinfectant wipes provided.
The room was spacious enough for two people and so was the bed. The bathroom was the perfect size and the shower looked newly installed. The tv is a nice size at the end of the bed and you get blackout curtains for privacy. Desk and the comfy corner chair are a plus for daytime tasks. Bed was massive but the pillows made it hard to fall asleep— that’s just a personal issue. My boyfriend had no problems at all. Maybe bring your own pillow if you absolutely wanted to.
Plenty of space for belongings and in the closet, bedside tables had charging outlets for our chargers, mini fridge kept our waters cold, ac kept us cool at night, and housekeeping does a great job. Not sure if we had neighbors, and if we did, I couldn’t hear them.
Need food recs? Go to Booyah! downstairs for a small breakfast selection and great coffee in the morning, along with their lunch/dinner selection. Didn’t have to go far for a good time and good food!
Thank you for a lovely week! I would definitely stay here for a trip to Mahwah again.

The hotel is old. The room was very dated. The bathroom wasn't working in the first room we got. The staff was nice to change the room. The elevator wasn't working during our stay.

I had a terrible experience here.
They oversold rooms, and stealthly changed our kingbed+junior suite (which we need for two kids) to kingbed only.
The frontdesk first denied the difference and tried to confuse us. With agents' help, they acknowledged the mistakes, and only offer two options: (1) 40$ discount, (2) cancellation at 10pm. The staff keeps saying you can cancel to get full refund. However, It was 10pm, where are we supposed to go? The front desk is really disappointing, it is not about money and it is about kids' experience. also she is such a coward who cannot face and address their mistakes.

Terrible service, worst experience ever. I booked the junior suite room via Chase Travel. I checked on the website and made sure it included a king bed and a sofa bed, since we are taking 2 young kids. What we got was a king room, not a suite at all. I talked to the front desk staff, who was a old lady, she at first tried to convince me that what I got was a suite, like I didn’t even know what suite was, and then she was trying to convince me that I booked a king room, because what on the reservation has no “sofabed” mentioned, let alone there was clearly “suite” displayed. She offered me “cancel” the reservation, as if we have some where to go at 9pm. I had chase to call them, after long conversation they finally admitted that they sold out, so they gave me a most similar room, which was a king room. I don’t know how I can book a sold out room a month ahead. Clearly they gave the room to other guest booked later, because there will be a wedding the next day. And they offered me refund of the difference of the room types, but based on the cheapest rate, not the memorial price we booked. Terrible terrible service, tried to lie to people like they were fools, and racist maybe since we are Asian and being treated as we never lived in a hotel before.

Problems. Problems. Problem.
We had 2 kids and all of the following were problems in this hotel/our room.
⁃ bathroom door was not lockable
⁃ Bathroom has absolutely no ventilation
⁃ Sticky carpet
⁃ Chipped paint in bathroom ceiling
⁃ Not enough air for whole room with the ac
⁃ Elevator in the building was not working. We had to go to 3 floors with 2 kids and luggage and everytime we wanted to go out.
⁃ Parking lot had lots of potholes
⁃ Far away from being a 4 star as they rate it on site.
⁃ Outside main light non functional - can’t see at night

This has to be the worst Hilton property I've ever stayed in. Furniture was in horrible condition, the halls and room had a strange musty smell. I actually removed and washed the air conditioner filter as they were caked with dirt. That didn't remove the smell, but the air circulation was improved.
The elevator floor was filthy. There was what looked to be chewed chicken on the floor.
The location was good, but there are better hotels on Route 17 within a mile of this place.
