We bought chicken today and when we got home to make dinner realized it said sell by May 19th and it’s a few days old. Chicken is not cheap and it’s not like we picked up a reduced price item and yeah we probably should have checked the dates and will be moving forward. Please double check your dates.

I have great appreciation for this store and do not wish to leave a negative review, as it is a wonderful place. However, I had an unfortunate experience today. While in the fried chicken section, one of the employees incorrectly claimed that the chicken was halal, seemingly because my wife was wearing a hijab. I had only inquired about the price and any available offers, and I am fully aware that the store does not sell halal food. I choose to buy from this store as well as others, and the matter of whether I eat halal or not is a very personal and private issue.
I was speaking with his colleague, a professional and respectful young woman, when the employee intervened without cause, perhaps trying to appear humorous in front of his coworkers. However, mocking customers, particularly in relation to personal or religious matters, is neither appropriate nor respectful. His actions were not only inappropriate but also troubling and unsettling.
It seemed he assumed we did not speak English, but his actions were nonetheless troubling. Afterward, I spoke with the store manager, a polite young woman, who sincerely apologized for the situation. The other staff members also expressed their regret, even though they were not at fault.
While this experience does not define the store, I believe that respect for customers and cultural sensitivity should always be prioritized.
