Lucy the Elephant was named America's BEST Roadside Attraction for 2024 & 2025 by USA Today's 10Best. This 6-story elephant-shaped building was built in 1881 and is recognized as the Oldest Surviving Roadside Attraction in America, having been declared a National Historic Landmark. Guided Tours through the elephant structure occur every 45 minutes during business hours, and visitors can browse the Gift Shop for one-of-a-kind Lucy the Elephant souvenirs and other elephant-themed items. Reviewers describe Lucy the Elephant as an "iconic" and "unique" landmark that is "worth the trip" for those in the area. The building's interesting history and the opportunity to climb to the rooftop are highlights. One reviewer praised the tour guide, Cayden, for being "patient, informative and a great role model." Though the interior may not be "very special," the preservation of this piece of history is appreciated, especially since it is an "inexpensive" way for visitors to help maintain the attraction. Overall, Lucy the Elephant is a fun and educational roadside stop that captures the imagination of both locals and tourists alike.
Super cool attraction and very cool fun facts during the tour. They also have a penny press in the gift shop :)

Didn't take the Lucy tour but viewed from outside. Larger than I thought it would be. They've done a tremendous job with the restoration. Gift shop was temporarily located across the street when we visited

Iconic. Great that this piece of history is kept alive and in good condition. Visiting is inexpensive and you help them with maintaining the place open. It’s not very special inside (one room plus the rooftop) but still worth it.
