How is this restaurant in business? Horrible food. Arrived at 6 pm and still had to wait an hour in the dirty loud basement for a table. Salad is iceberg lettuce with spoiled vinegar. Penne was fine. Both our steaks came out rare when I ordered medium well. They re-cooked it and was still rare. Served with "creamed corn" which was all cream and no corn. My steak eventually came out charred. Both the steaks were under-seasoned with no flavor. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

I'm baffled at how there are reviews with more than 2 stars. I was hoping for this unique experience everyone talks of and was so disappointed. The ambience is terrible; you walk into a florescent lighting mess hall, give your order, and walk into a musty basement bar with rude bartenders. The servers everywhere were frustrated with any requests. The food was disgusting! We had a table of 12 and not a single person left saying they had a good meal. Salad tastes like it has nail polish remover, scampi was freezer burnt, the steak (star entree) was mediocre at best, Pork came out entirely raw, and one of our guests has been vomiting for hours after the veal. At $150 the entire experience is completely unacceptable. There are so many places to bring your business, this is not it.

The greeting was nice, the food was poor!! We ordered a filet med well that came out rare. The other was a sirloin that was ordered medium that came served burnt on the outside and rare in the middle. The fries were so thin that they cane burnt! The broclie had no flavor at all. Desert was an apple crisp that also had no flavor at all. The wine was $14 a glass for a wine that costs $14 a bottle. Over priced and under florvored was consistent!

We have enjoyed dinner at Sammy’s over the past 40 years. At one time I believed the steaks were comparable to the Palm in NYC and Peter Luger’s in Brooklyn. However, our last meal was extremely disappointing. We ordered ribeyes. We should have returned the steaks and requested a refund but we were eating with out of town guests and I didn’t want to embarrass them. The meat was tough and gristly for everyone. Sadly, I don’t think we will be eating there again.

Everyone was rude and the food was overpriced and dry. I had the steak for two 125$, not worth 20$. Steak was dry with no flavor. Then they hid my 125$ with a head of french fries. Rude owners as well. They think they are big shots. Never going

It has to be the worst restaurant I have ever been in. Food with no flavor, very plain, raw, extremely over priced, very long wait time, bad service.Don't know how they can be in business still. Not coming back even if I were invited for free.

Excellent steak, penne with vodka sauce, spaghetti with garlic and olive oil. You order up front and then wait in the "speakeasy" and have a drink and chat with the friendly bartender, until your meal is ready. No sign out front. Exceptional place.

Great experience tonight! Greeted by the hostest (part owner) who took our steak order, then went downstairs where Woody, bartender served up drinks. Shortly after, got called up for dinner - 30oz T-bone to perfection! Service was spot on and we'll timed. A must visit to this landmark, not fancy but mouthwatering feasting spot. I'll be back with a bigger crowd next time, ty!!!

We had been going to Sammys since 1972. We would go at least once or twice a month. We even would take our entire family there on Christmas Eve March of 2022 we went for dinner and ordered the double lambchops and double lobster. We had a $ 140 bottle of wine with our meal. We received a very small plate of french fries for the two of us. When my husband asked the young (new) waitress she said very sassy "we have to charge you for them". We were extremely surprised because the table next to us had a single lobster and a single steak and had a plate of french fries more than double of ours. A few minutes later one of the owners came over to yell at my husband saying he "swore" at the waitress. This was absurd!!!! I wanted to say to Maryanne-"you withheld tips from all your staff and were sued for the damages and now you are concerned about your employees"? When Governor Christie told all the Mendham residents to boycott Sammy's we still supported them. For Maryanne to accuse my husband of being rude to her employee was absolutely ridiculous. We have not set foot in Sammy's since that night. We have had MANY friends BOYCOTT Sammy's because of their rude and arrogant behavior. We drive by Sammy's on numerous weekends and noticed no one is there. No big lines anymore or packed parking lot. So Sammy, Gina & Maryanne-You get what you give. Stop being rude and arrogant especially to clients who have been supporting you for over 50 years. AVOID SAMMY'S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came in with some close friends to celebrate my birthday. The bartender downstairs, Woody, is great! The family owned business was very fun to enjoy its history. My grandmother went there when it was a speakeasy, and my aunt grew up going there as well. So it was cool to have dinner where there was a bunch of history within those walls. The food, the food was delicious. Everything was exquisite. Thank you for a great night out!
