“Metuchen store in the middle of downtown with a pretty decent array of wines and liquors.We were pleasantly surprised to find a Josh reserve . Could tell many locals shop here due to the person working greeted every one who entered and struck up a conversation as they purchased items. The store was well organized and super clean. Plenty of street parking on a Saturday night and close to plenty of themed restaurants. Return: Absolutely”

Parking can be awful at the wrong time - even the paid public lot gets full, and this is before the new apartment complex even breaks ground. My suggestion is to shop on a Sunday night since no one knows they're open until 9pm.”

They have a great selection, fair prices, and the store is always clean, organized, and easy to shop. The staff gives you space to browse, which I appreciate, but they are also helpful and knowledgeable when you need assistance.

“Neil is simply the best ! The store also has such a wide variety of spirits, wines and beers - really unmatched. Couple that with a guy like Neil who has a wealth and world of experience and is always ready to share, advise and guide but never in an intrusive way. We also recently had a graduation party and got all our liquor needs through HWL and Neil which included a keg. Everything went super smooth. With Neil’s guidance and the stores infrastructure we didn’t miss a beat. Including running out of ice and having them rush over faster than a first responder ! Highly recommend. (As an aside: ask him about Bob Dylan - there’s a story there 🙂).”

“Been coming here for a couple years now. Joe and Tony are always super friendly and helpful no matter if you’re looking to try something new or searching for a gift. The place has a huge selection and even has different international drinks also. The store has a dedicated parking lot too which makes it easy to just go in and out quickly when needed. Great local business and people.”
“Been shopping here for years. The Owner is extremely knowledgeable in both brewing and equipment. Novice or Expert they have what you need, but what made me post a review after 5+ years?
I was there today with my infant son and I told the owner i would have to come back for the mash kits as I couldn't carry my son and the kits at the same time. Unprompted the owner grabbed the kits and walked them to my car. Now there is an owner that loves their customers”

“Unbelievable selection of Bourbons, Scotches, Brandies, Rum, etc. Excellent selection of highly allocated items like Clase Azul Tequila, Champagne, Cognacs, and Specialty Bourbons (some very hard to get). Amazing selection of Cigars, and most importantly they take great care of their humidor. What makes this store unique is their customer oriented focused. They do go the extra mile for anyone. Very knowledgeable of the business, and the brands. Plenty of parking, plenty of stock, in store tastings, fast service. Outstanding customer service.”

The guy with the baseball hat is very knowledgeable about wine varietals and there are generally 3 options of anything you are looking for. Prices are not outrageous, pretty reasonable but not like joe canal type deals. JFW is my LQ of choice, especially when looking for something new to try.”
