Below is the e-mail I shared with Petroleum 19 (the gas station sharing the property with Cliff Auto Repair). I would NEVER do business with Cliff. : I just had a rather frightening experience at your station in Middlesex, NJ (302 Lincoln Boulevard). It was not with your attendant (your staff is always friendly and polite...I consider them to be friends). The problem was with the mechanic in the garage. While I suspect the garage and petroleum station are 2 different operations, I bring this to your attention out of concern for the safety of your customers. I was filling up with gasoline this afternoon. As I was waiting, Cliff (I am assuming that is the name of the proprietor of the service station) was pulling a car into the service bay and he starts yelling at me. So I got out of my car to speak with him and asked "excuse me, have I done something wrong?" He replies (very unfriendly) "THIS ISN'T A PARKING LOT, YOU SHOULD ONLY BE THERE TO GET GAS!" I told him "I'm filling up right now." He replied "YOU'RE BLOCKING THE DRIVEWAY!" (I was 18 inches from the pump, gas cap even with the pump hose...exactly where a car would be while filling up) I said "I'm parked right next to the pump while it is being filled with gas...where should I be?" He barked "I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAS STATION...I DON'T CARE IF IT BURNS." (from my perspective, this sounded like a veiled threat) I asked again what I was doing wrong and he stopped talking. I repeatedly asked him to explain to me what I should do to prevent causing trouble in the future and he wouldn't say anything. I am not easily offended or threatened by people in a poor mood, but this interaction struck me differently. Quite honestly, I am concerned for my personal safety in returning to your business at this location (and have been stopping there exclusively for years). I bring this to your attention out of concern for your customers and the reputation of your business.

Cliff is an honest mechanic. Yes, such a thing exists. He is matter of fact and can explain compex issues with a car in quite simple terms. I've been using Cliff for over ten years and he always gives me options when they're available. He will let me know what must be fixed and what can wait to be fixed or if there are alternatives. He never pushes for the most expensive option. Most importantly, he stands by his work.
