Terrible showroom customer service. We have done a lot of remodels in our house and our contractors always purchased material through Kuiken. This morning I had to go to showroom myself to take a look at decking materials with most expensive in mind (why I stress most expensive is because I was planning to drop a sum of money in this place). I showed up at 9am and was the only customer in the entire place with 4 sales people sitting around in the showroom doodling on the internet. When the registration girl asked the sales people who could help me out with pricing material for my deck, none the sales people even flinched and continued to stare at their screens. She then proceeded to ask a specific guy for help to which he responded "nah" and that he was too busy, until finally one of the other saleman took it upon himself to briefly help me out. To make long story short, I think the showroom needs to train their staff better in customer service as none of them would appreciate being treated this way when they go to the malls, doctors, restaurants, etc. I will also try and avoid having my contractors purchase materials through them in the future for my house projects or recommend them to anyone as I do not want my hard earned money spent on such nasty people.

The contractor we hired recommended Kuiken as we are from out of town and had no idea where to go in Jersey! So we ventured out to the factory/showroom early Saturday morning (be mindful of their half day Saturday schedule) and were very pleased with our visit! The showroom has everything you would want, from upclose samples to detailed installation examples. Everything you would need to see to get a real idea of what you were working with. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they are quick to respond to calls and emails. We parked just around the driveway where the storage was and got to see the back of house which is always exciting! They keep everything very well organized and clean which is a huge plus in my book. Even the guys in the back were nice. We received our molding at the end of last week and they were in constant contact with us and delivery was on time and a smooth process (which is a serious blessing for anyone who knows how this can go). Im a fan of Kuiken! Already told a few friends who are also renovating in Jersey to look them up!

Terrible customer service. Stood in the store for 15 minutes waiting for assistance. Had to finally ask someone for help to which she replied- I don't know if there's anyone that can help you. Seriously? A store that had no one that can help a customer? This company will not be getting our business. Home Depot here we come.

I try to take on the majority of my home repair (if it doesn't involve electricity or water) and Kuiken is where I buy 90% of my supplies. I think its important to support the local business over the big box retailers and dont mind spending and extra 5% if thats what it takes. Usually they are very competitive and the product quality is superior. Their lumber is straight, not bowed and they have a good selection of stock moldings. Their service is what sets them apart. I just finished re-building my bannister and they helped me every step of the way and gave me great advice on what type of product to use (molding types, fasteners, finishes, etc.). I'll be seeing them again soon when I take on the wife's walk-in.

In an age of mass market "Home Depot-type" building supply stores, Kuikens is the real deal. Super knowledgable staff and first-rate supplies. This is where the pros go.
