I am all for shopping locally but urge u NOT to give this owner ur money. U can read the reviews of her - not friendly, not helpful. I surmise she cares only for the few elite or regular customers with no concern for others. It's amazing she has stayed in business so long. While I do occasionally shop there I guess I don't qualify for the nice" treatment she offers to some clients. I had an incident there recently in which she refused to extend me credit for merchandise i bought. I would have even accepted store credit which would have been to the owner's benefit as i would have bought more clothes in excess of the credit. Certainly this would have been good PR and gone a long way in making me feel good about shopping there. Laura just doesn't care. I like to give my money to kind nice helpful stores where everyone is welcome and made to feel their purchases and business are appreciated. Isn't that what small shops and community are all about? I guess Laura doesn't feel that way.

My daughter had the most horrible experience here. She was treated very rudely by the owner. Strongly advise people to shop elsewhere.

My experience at Dot Reeder was very frustrating. I came to the store as a student involved in a town sponsorship for the store and was treated with passive aggressive and pushy behavior. The owner made snarky remarks at me when I didn't think the clothes that I tried on fit me or were my style. She also proceeded to kick me out of the dressing room I was using so that a "real customer" could try on clothing, and refused to let me change back into my own clothes or get my phone and wallet out of the changing room. She then insisted that I help her fold and put away the clothing I was working with (all the while I was still wearing the Dot Reeder clothing that she didn't let me take off), while I waited for the other "priority" customer to finish trying on outfits. The attitude and disrespect was shocking. None of the other customers shopping in the store at the time were treated with such aggression. I would not recommend shopping here.

This review has been a long-time coming. The clothes and jewelry they sell are perfectly fine. But the prices are offensive. Beyond offensive. It's almost as if the owner is angry at her customers. Which is not a left field theory because I've heard multiple stories about her behavior, including chasing a customer down the street because she came into the store and didn't buy anything and the owner was apparently deeply offended. If you like being mistreated and overpaying, this is the store for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

My all time favorite store in Montclair hands down. Laura has an amazing eye and it shows in all of her merchandise.

Wish dot reader was a more welcoming shop with a more varied collection and prices that wouldn't drive away many of the locals. Friendliness should be par for the course, even if you're just there to browse.

So this is 'old school', high touch customer service being served at Dot Reeder. Rarely do you get such friendly, insightful and hands on help from a team of stylists. Laura, the owner, is simply fabulous and lovely to work with. She has keen eye for style, fashion, trends.....you name it. She will take the the time to insure you get exactly what you need. She is the best. KeiAuntie is an amazing stylist, as well, so lovely and helpful. Each time I'm in DR I find myself wanting to hang out with them as it's just like being with your bestie, fun chit chat, playing with beautiful clothing and accessories. You get the drift!! Please stop in and check out this wonderful jewel and support this lovely small business. It's an awesome experience!!

ZERO Stars!!!ZERO!!!So sorry I walked in here with my camera innocent vlogger/ potential customer, simply browsing. Never experienced paranoia like this when bringing a camera man Me and my daughter should have RAN. NEVER again. A simple "WE don't allow cameras or ask me to leave would have been fine...instead I got Condescending Interragation.Owner Also said stinky stores like NORDSTROM and MICHAEL Kors allow cameras!!! Totally the audacity to want to see what was on my camera???What in the WHITE PRIVELEDGE power trip GTFOH!??Horrible IGNORANT, ARROGANT Condescending business owner, big mistake walking into this store with my camera NEVER again!!Will be more careful BTW I didn't see a sign...Definitely could have been RACIST...what a MESS, TOTALLY UNECESSARY... attempting to HUMILIATE a potent ion guest over a camera by talking down on them is NOT a the way you handle something like that....WILD!!!

I shop almost exclusively at Dot Reeder. The owner just knows what will look fantastic on you- she'll be your own personal shopper if you want. I've shopped here for all 13 years they've been open. High quality clothes, great accessories, and fun gifts. I highly recommend supporting this fierce small business!

I have been shopping at Dot Reeder for over 10 years, even after moving out of Montclair back to NYC. Laura has a KEEN eye for style, as well as she's thoughtful, helpful and the reason why I've continued to support her business for so many years. If you're looking for a place to pick up items that are ON POINT, check her out!

It was such a bummer , I was in town and my sister was so excited to come to your boutique... we love all the brands and the customer service was horrible . The ladies stayed behind the counter . I even found my own fitting room w an item . We had to ask for help. When two people where there and a third came w there lunch. Such a bummer cause we love Mother band and the clog brand number 6. Doesn't make your customer wanna come back ... and shop if your not friendly or helpful or attentive to customers .

I absolutely love this store. After moving from NYC to NJ I really have been missing the small hip clothing stores I used to shop at. Then I stumbled on to this shop. Not only are the staff so amazingly sweet (they spent over an hour dressing me up in fun things) but the store owner has a real eye for well made, fashionable and cool clothing and accessories. She curates the store so well. I highly recommend checking this store out. You will not be sorry!
