“Update: changing this to a five star review because the establishment did reach out to apologize and that speaks volumes to me. I will definitely be willing to give it another try. I’m choosing not to give this establishment one star out of courtesy, as I come from the hospitality industry myself and understand the challenges that come with running a busy business. There are certainly things this place does well. The outdoor seating is in a beautiful setting, and the wine selection is impressive. That said, the service was where they fell short. I came in looking for champagne and was immediately told, “We don’t carry any mainstream champagne.” I don’t like to throw around titles or credentials, but I do have a fairly strong knowledge of wine. Regardless, I believe a wine-focused establishment should make guests of all levels of wine knowledge feel comfortable, welcomed, and respected. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Even the interactions and looks I received while walking around the space felt noticeably unwelcoming. With such a beautiful setting and an excellent wine selection, I really wanted to enjoy this place. I just hope the service and overall hospitality can become more inclusive and inviting, because the atmosphere and wine program have the potential to make this a truly great destination.”

“Lovely local spot. We once came in looking for vermouth and they didn't have any. The next week we came in and the owner recognized us and showed us he'd ordered several bottles. Very small but a nice little neighborhood joint.”

“Perfect for what it is, a small neighborhood liquor store. Not competing with bottle king for selection or price, but great place to grab a bottle or wine (or two). They also have a good selection of beer (microbrews too) and liquor. The guy who runs the place (or at least the only one I've seen work there) is super friendly. Love having this place around the corner.”

“I attempt Dry January every year, so this only applies to a few folks, but the non-alcoholic beer and wine selection here gets more diverse every year. I love the 00 Cabernet and Heineken, and my dad and I are excited to try the Corona and Guinness. I don't miss getting drunk nearly as much as tasting the different drinks, and it's nice to keep the beer-after-work mood going even during the winter. 5/5 to one of the best small, independent drink vendors in Montclair.”

“This place is a godsend, a mirage in the desert on a Saturday night. Open a little later than most and staffed by the friendliest chill people on the planet, what more can anyone say? It’s a liquor store with a great selection, no hassle, and I love the place with all my heart. Extra points for being dog friendly.”

“Gets the job done and convenient to several restaurants we frequent in Watchung Plaza. Not the best beer selection so we mostly use it for the bottle of wine or sake needed for dinner nearby. You can enter from the front on Watchung, or from the parking lot in the back. Always quick and on market with prices.”
