Really nice store! It's huge! It's a little overwhelming, but in a good way. One of the workers said, "You either have to come with something in mind or have some time to spare." I had some time to spare and spent an hour just walking around. They have used books as well as new books. The vinyl section was really cool. Records from well-known artists as well as some lesser known artists. It's just a really cool place. I ended up buying a vinyl and a book! I'll be back!

I discovered this gem of this wonderful bookstore through Instagram, thanks to themontclairgirl, and I was thrilled to find books that perfectly matched my interests, particularly The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson. The search was incredibly satisfying, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of books available. You never know what treasures you'll uncover here, and you're sure to leave with something wonderful in hand.

I accept that it was my mistake to not check the website before coming in to sell the books BUT there are better ways to tell about your policy to a customer rather than being rude about it. Disappointed that the communication was so harsh for no reason.

It's a neat place to visit. It's a bit labyrinthine, so it's easy to get overwhelmed.Unfortunately, I grabbed one of their blind buy books that looked interesting and it ended up being book 2 of a duology?! Why?

this place is a fun and cute spot to look around! whenever i go to montclair with one of my friends, we stop by to browse. this is also where i bought a corduroy tote bag that has since become a major part of my persona + gets me a lot of compliments.

There are good books here. However, a high percentage of the stock is rather dated, and in just fair condition. The store would benefit from a culling of the herd.EDIT: Calling a book that is foxed and/or in barely acceptable condition "vintage" or "classic" doesn't suddenly make it worth buying.

Nice record selection! Lots of books too. Be sure to check the sleeve/ case before you purchase music. I made the mistake and purchased albums with no CD and completely different CDs inside but they were gracious enough and processed a refund!

I love the culture of independent shops in Montclair’s downtown and Montclair Book Center is one of my favorites. The smell of the wooden bookshelves and the paper books combine into something I wish I could bottle into a candle. I’ve bought many books through them, both off the self and custom-ordered. The process is always painless and seamless and I have easily spent hours just browsing their labyrinth of shelves. These guys know their customer base and the store is perfectly set up to cater to their needs, whether they’re there to just enjoy the magic of an independently owned book business or grab a companion to enjoy one of Montclair’s many food spots.

Agreeing with the other 1-star reviews.To the owner -- stop harassing me via responses and emails.I once again ask you kindly.You are not a nice person. My 1 star review is legit - they do not treat their customers right.Go bother someone else.Again, I have no interest in coming back to your store.

Montclair is a very diverse and eccentric town. One of the places that adds to the charm is the Montclair Book Center. Since the new ownership took place (a little over a year ago), a majority of improvements have been made to enhance the bookreader and customer experience. The MBC transcends the imagination of an antique bookstore. Readers of all genres and ages are welcome. The collection of new books follows current trends, and the vinyl collection is something to be seen! The staff is more than knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!
