I was really nervous. But I felt very welcome and I really liked my cut. Everybody was very polite and the hair washing was one of the best parts. I hope to do my hair again there soon next time maybe some color and definitely another cut.

I came in for a blow out. The salon is very warm, clean and inviting. My stylist was Melodie. She was great! My hair came out really good and I came out feeling like a million bucks, and got multiple comments from my friends complimenting my hair! I highly recommend this hidden gem in upper montclair

I got a semi-permanent color treatment to cover my gray. Great experience - everyone was genuinely friendly, not a lot of fuss and no pushyness. They offered tea, coffee, and water, which I appreciated first thing on a Saturday. I felt very comfortable, the color looks natural just like I hoped for, and I'll definitely be back! Thank you!

Gabby was my hair professional and she came highly recommended for a reason! She took a lot of time looking at my hair (first time client) and asked me what I wanted my hair to look like! We discussed my hair goals at length and what I could do in between haircuts to keep my hair looking it's best. I made my next appointment before I left the salon!

Melodie was a delight. She listened to my concerns and gave her opinions on what would look good on me. I haven't had a major cut in a really long time and she knew I was a little nervous to do that cut. She was attentive, and explained what works good on my hair, how to blow dry it to look fuller. Overall very satisfied.

Such warm, welcoming and friendly staff! Really lovely energy at this salon. Had a blowout with curls done by Melodie and she did an excellent job, couldn’t be happier. Portray will definitely be my salon of choice whenever I’m in town.

Patty, you were amazing with my daughter, Ava! Ava doesn't like getting her hair cut, she has a few bad experiences & even left places crying. This time was totally different! I booked my appointment for 3:30 and arrived at 3:25. I was immediately seated and taken care of by Melodie. She took her time and did a wonderful job with the cut. I’ve had my hair cut by many people of all ages and she is easily in my top 3 best hair cuts. Go there, get her. You will walk out a brand new woman. Lol

I don’t recommend this salon if you have straight, fine hair. I wanted to make sure it was properly done and hired AnnMarie (the salon owner) to cut my hair. This was the 2nd time and it was a grand failure.
I asked for a short French blunt haircut and provided a photo of Taylor Swift 1989 era. And I was given a mushroom hair cut, adding 30 years to my face. The sides of my face was overcut, leaving a massive gap that doesn’t properly flow from the bangs. Also the cut was done too short just at the ears and is unflattering. My hair was shoulder length prior to the cut.
It would’ve been better if she said she can’t do it. I decided it is not worth trying to get them to fix it, especially when I left she said it was cute. I felt insulted as she couldn’t own it was poorly executed. I will go somewhere else to fix it as I can’t trust them with the remaining hair I have left.

I recently collaborated with Portray Salon and all of their fun hairstylists in a photoshoot for their marketing visuals & content.
I was able to witness just how positive, energetic, & authentic their salon environment is. The salon is clean, bright, & so inviting! While, they have excellent talent in hair care, styling, and coloring - they are most importantly great souls!!!
I look forward to working with them again!
