I have been bringing my 2 French Bulldogs here since they were tiny puppies and Harlingen has been wonderful ever since the first visit. Gaston & Petra get SOOO excited to see their very first doctor, Dr. Smetts and the entire team. Dr. Oakley who is their surgeon is fantastic and was even able to treat my chicken when she hurt her foot! The entire staff here are very kind and patient and make you feel right at home. I used a different vet in the past with my cats and honestly felt like they were always trying to push prescriptions and product that I didn't feel were necessary for them, so when I adopted my puppies I did my research to make sure I took them to a vet that had a good reputation for integrity. I never feel like anyone at Harlingen would ever suggest any medicine that is not necessary which is very comforting. I highly recommend Harlingen for your furry and feathery family members.

Dr. Nicolas Oakley is simply awesome. He is patient with our puppy and happy to explain all of our questions, even some basic questions by our kids. The clinic itself is very understanding and made us feel comfortable from our first visit when our new puppy peed nervously in the waiting area.

Nice staff and Dr's. They take extra care of the pets. Our cat had an accident in the crate, even though we lined in with a pad, it was a mess. They cleaned the cat and the crate.

Harlingen has been our Vets since 2004. Great expertise, clean facility, friendly and most caring personnel. The grounds surrounding the clinic have a beautiful and serene path with benches, to walk your dog or seat outside if you need to wait, weather permitting. All in all the best in town.

Lovely and knowledgeable staff. They really care about all the animals they care for. They have a great area outside to walk your dog or wait if your pet can't be around others. I also love the office cat Mabel. She's the waiting room greeter.... even though she's always sleeping when I come in with my dog ?

Best vet clinic in NJ! The staff is extremely understanding and accommodating of my dog who can be very anxious when being examined. They have gone out of their way to make him comfortable while also getting the treatment he needs, including adapting procedures when necessary. I feel confident that my dog is in great hands here. Special thanks to vet tech Nicole, who has worked beautifully with my dog!

"Money hunger" says it all. Rush exam, if complicated issues, firstly exam & charge and then refer out. There are many vets out there around this area (Rt. 206), need to find someone compassionate and has patience. We decided to leave the office after so many years.

A sky full of stars but it only lets me put 5!The facility and staff are exceptional. We visited with Dusty, a challenging rescue that we've homed and loved for eight years after his first four homes gave up on him. Other veterinary practices refused to treat him as he aged because he's fear reactive and has become increasingly more anxious over time.Dr. Newman agreed to see him and she was nothing short of remarkable with our troubled pup. She is skilled, pleasant, professional and helpful. I can't express enough positivity about her! I know Dusty's tough but she made the entire experience for him (and for my husband and myself) magical. She is clearly a vererinarian who excells in her field. The staff are genuinely sweet and professional. From the first phone call all interactions were well above standard. We interacted with Nicole, Jessica and Stephanie, each of them bringing a professional and pleasurable experience to us. Prompt, courteous, fun - what a great group and a great place!I am very impressed and am eager to move my two year old Westie here as well.Looks like we found our forever vet! ❤️Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device

Our cat Lady is terrified of going for her check-ups and these vets make her visit incredible! They are kind, compassionate and patient and do their very best to make sure your babies are well taken care of. I would give them ten thousand stars if I could! Samantha, Dr. Smett and everyone else there are just incredible!

Our dog Teddy had a terrible cough and we were concerned. Dr. Newman was able to examine him and ease our worries saying it was a mild case of kennel cough (local dog park) and he would be ok in a few days. She was right!

Great, friendly veterinarian clinic. They emphasize appointments, not walk-ins. Very competent care for dogs and cats. I trust Dr. Oakley implicitly!

Very money focused after being bought out. Admittedly I have young skittish cats and needed to reschedule my visits because the premed didn’t work. However we brought our pets there for 25 years. When I recoiled about needing to pay for rescheduling my discussion with the office manager was bad. She ended up hanging up on me!!! I wasn’t disrespectful at all. I am almost 70 and no one ever treated me this way!!! Still in shock over the treatment of a good patient who needed to cancel. With my last three cats we never had to do this. One lived to 23 a Siamese due to good care from them.Love the vets but it also now takes 5-8 days to get medical questions answered since they were bought out.Would appreciate a response from them.

After 14 yrs we had to say goodbye to our beloved yellow lab. We were devastated and Dr Smett and assistant Nicole were so wonderful. They made the experience for us and our dog about as good as it could possibly get given the circumstances. Highly recommend them and so appreciative. Thank you so much.

I had a dog I loved so much who had to be euthanized in 10/19. He had been a long-time patient at HVC. When he couldn't go on any longer, the doctors and staff at HVC provided incredible emotional support and sensitivity, in addition to top-notch medical care. I want to give special kudos to Dr. Zydiak and Dr. Oakley, even though the entire staff is exemplary…except maybe for one person. (More on that later.) I recently adopted another dog and I knew I wanted to take her to HVC because of the good experience I had with the doctors and staff. I made an appointment but the day before we were scheduled to go, the office called me and said I had a balance of several hundred dollars that remained from the care of my first dog. Now, it's been over 2.5 years since my dog passed, and I have never gotten an email, a letter in the mail, a phone call or a voice mail that I had a balance. The person on the phone told me I had to pay it or I couldn't take my new dog in. I was shocked, by the news that I owed something after 2.5 years and by her attitude. I told her I was never notified; she said I was "multiple" times. She said a certified letter was sent to my home. We figured out it was sent to my previous address. But wouldn't a certified letter be returned to sender if the person is not at that address? Wouldn't HVC know I never received the letter? Besides that, I was never notified in any other way about my balance. I told the person I was going to have to cancel the appointment. I needed to check my records. She hung up on me. Within 10 minutes I called back because I wanted to pay the bill. I'm not a liar or a cheat, which was implied by the woman on the phone. I pay my bills. I spoke to the office manager and gave her my cc #. So my bill was paid off. She said since that was taken care of, I could bring my dog in. I said ok. But I didn't feel right about it. I was hurt and very sad that my memories of a supportive staff were ruined by the attitude of the first person and the fact that the office manager still didn't apologize for the fact that they never billed me. I called that night and left a message I wasn't going in. I am writing this here to let others know about my problem, but also to make the owner Dr. Newman aware of what has gone on (there's no way to contact her directly via email), that a client who left positive reviews online for HVC before and never once had previously skipped a bill could be treated this way. If your pet is in the hands of the doctors, they're in good hands. But the customer service I experienced 2.5 years ago is not the same.

What a great experience. This is my first dog and we had our very first vet visit. The office was clean, calm and well-run and all of the staff were great. The vet, Dr. Smetts, gave us a lot of time to discuss behavioral and health concerns. She was very informative and took the time to get our dog to be comfortable and calm. The entire staff were friendly, polite and efficient. I really appreciate the time we were given and how easy they made it for me and my nervous dog.
