I wanted to leave this positive review for Alexa a very skilled, creative, and kind instructor at KSOF. She has been incredible helping me create my project and teaching me new techniques. She is amazing with the children and they all love her (and so does everyone else). She has a passion for fashion and design and it really truly shows when she takes the extra time to make sure everything is perfect and enjoyable for the students. Thank you Alexa!

My daughter has been a KSOF student in classes and camps for years from when she attended kids sessions through attending the teen/adult sessions. She has learned so much and has had such an enjoyable time in the class rooms and with the projects she worked on. What an experience it was to see some of her clothing creations on the runway at the annual fashion shows! And even more exciting for her were the clothes she made that she could wear. Karen has such a passion to help students get the most out of the classes.

I love Karen's school Best school i've ever attended and if you are a beginning she will help! But don't expect to make a wedding dress your first try, because you have to work your way up the chain. I over all recommend Karen School of Fashion!

My daughter has attended KSOF since grammar school (now a senior in high school). Karen is a wonderful person. Your child will not only learn and create fashion apparel but will also receive support, encouragement and mentoring from Karen throughout the process. I could never thank KSOF enough for giving my child the skills and confidence that helped unlock her fullest potential. My daughter will be attending FIT for Fashion Design this fall.

I attended KSOF in NYC, for a few weeks earlier this year, personally I need explanation more than demonstration, Karen juggles too much at the same time lacking sufficient attention and help to new comers. A lot of her students are young kids, as an adult I work very hard for my money and am looking for an environment where it is respected and considered which it wasn't here. Not to mention, I gently asked if down the road I may reach out for small pointers not free classes and she had no interest unless it was paid. I don't recommend for adults and people who need organization as well have whimsical ideas as often time she tried changing my ideas simply because she "didn't like them" which isn't what I was paying for.

My daughter has been going to KSOF in Marlboro for over a year now and absolutely loves it. I can’t say enough about how amazing Karen and her staff are. She is not only teaching them to sew in a friendly environment but she inspires them to be creative. The whole experience continues to be wonderful for my daughter, thanks Karen!!!

I am self-taught at sewing, pattern-making, and draping. I've been making outfits for myself for almost 9 years!Upon my mother seeing the ad for Karen's School of Fashion in the local newspaper, she urged me to attend classes.I already knew how to do the basics, I was sure with time I'd become more proficient and as long as it looked good from the outside, the messed up cutting and sewing would be fine.Sewing classes would either be boring, for children, or below my assumed level. Besides, I wasn't too serious about it.However! Attending KSOF was a huge change for me.I didn't realize how little I knew about fashion and sewing.I went from being the most involved in my high-school fashion class, to relearning everything in a clean and professional manner.I used to make sewing patterns with newspaper, leave unraveling raw edges, and even make lop-sided outfits.Everything was utilitarian for me before I started taking KSOF classes. Now, if I had taken classes before, I wouldn't have wasted so much time, money, and fabric getting everything right. Even now, I'm making better, efficient choices when it comes to sewing, pattern-making, draping, and fashion. Now, when I speak to friends who have been in costuming contests, we can speak with the same vocabulary. I didn't know anything about interfacing or even sewing machine tension. The main teacher, Karen, is a wonderful person as well. She is always attentive to detail. She takes the time and care to help every single student with any questions, and even gathers the class around her demonstrations. While having the class watch her explain mistakes and teaching how to mend them can seem frightening, it is actually a great experience that makes myself and other students proud in our work and wish to do our best.In Karen's, and the other teachers', classes, every "mistake" is a positive opportunity to learn more. With my 9 years of sewing of very slowly learned proficiency, I eventually learned upon attending KSOF that it is best to work "smart" and not "hard".9 years of trial and error were not necessarily wasted, but I worked hard. I worked hard figuring out a few things on my own.Yet, to work "smart" is to be efficient and resourceful. Why push a boulder up a mountain when you can take a lift up the mountain? The goals are the same, the destinations are the same, the end results are the same. There is no reason to make things harder.KSOF is a great lift. I learned much more in 4 years of classes than all of my time spending effort instead of truly utilizing my resources. While some may take pride in being "self-taught", I take more pride in building a wonderful relationship with not only Karen and her teachers, but with creating art.Karen is a true professional with the best credentials in an independent sewing school within the tri-state area.I'm also an adult, and the mix of skill levels in classes is refreshing to touch upon fashion techniques that are forgotten or never picked up.I've been encouraged and taught to love crafting. One day, I want to make graphic art on fabric and cut and sew them into shirts. Of course, with KSOF's help!

My 10 year-old really enjoyed her experience here over several weeks during Summer 2016. It appeared to be a lot of fun and very, very creative. There was a capstone fashion show at the end of the session (I think it went week-to-week), where the kids "modeled" on a runway the fashions they designed. My only complaint is that the camps began at 10AM, and the building typically wasn't open for an early drop off before that. Starting any summer programming mid-morning is very inconvenient for working parents, particularly given the location of KSOF, which for us was way removed from our daily routines.

KSOF has been the best part of my daughter's life for over the past 5 years. She has learned so much and enjoys every minute of learning with Karen. Karen is an exemplary teacher. She builds on each students strengths and really encourages them to learn and grow. My daughter is always inspired and excited each week for class. Fashion has become a huge part of her life and Karen has too.

While shopping for an adequate machine for quilting, Karen answered all my questions and concerns and was so patient. Since she was such a wealth of information, I ordered a Juki 2010Q through Karen and 3 days later it arrived! Although Karen could have pushed me into a more expensive machine with lots of unneeded bells and whistles, she recommended what was best for my specific needs. In addition, she provided a private lesson on the machine, which I left feeling confident and extremely informed. Her personal service is above and beyond and so rare anymore. I could not have asked for a better experience, could not receive better service or found a friendlier face! Thank you Karen!!
