I have dealt with these national chains for years and places that send out the lenses to be done. ! He does them in house !
Mike is a true skilled artisan . He felt I should have an opportunity to try my prescription from the ophthalmologist before doing it permanently . I have several vision issues ! He made me a lens to try first , &’then adjusted the prescription based on my feedback ! He is super knowledgeable and explained everything very well !
The results are amazing & the price was much better the usual chains !!
I highly recommend this guy ! He will guarantee that you will be happy with the results and will give you a fair price !!!
Very refreshing dealing with an honest , caring , knowledgeable person. !

Mr. Bergelt is one of those guys you want to go to for glasses. He is just nice, respectful, and a master at his craft. It does pay to go to a local established business for great customer service.

Mr. Bergelt is THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST! You cannot find a better Optician for all your needs and on top of that, he is the kindest, nicest man. You will have fun while choosing your glasses! He is the best around and while I hope he can enjoy retirement at some point in the future, I dread the day I can no longer have my eyeglasses serviced by Mr. Bergelt - I know I will never find another as good as he is!

Wow! My wife suffered with her new glasses from another vendor. Paid top dollar to get quality lenses and features like anti reflective coating, scratch protection and progressive bifocals. However, every time she put them on, she felt they were not right. She felt dizzy and basically, never wore them. Research found this small shop and she took a chance to see if the owner could help. Mr Bergelt looked at the prescription, tested her glasses and confirmed that they were incorrectly made! This despite several revisits to the original shop that made them... they said, she had to get used to them!!! She had Bergelt make a new pair of glasses for her and, as if by magic, her vision was back to perfect. Wow indeed! We were promised perfection or no charge and that really impressed us. She smiled when she put them on and hasn't taken them off since. (Ok, she doesn't sleep or shower with them on. ) There are quality crafts people who come to work to do a great job for their clients. These people need to be celebrated and patronized. Bergelt is such a place. The owner is right out of central casting.. like a character in a movie set in a Frank Capra home town movie. Honest, friendly, professional, and really good at his job. I have been wearing glasses since I was 13. This shop is possibly the best around. Period. Highly, highly, recommended.

I found this owner operated optician in Morris Plains by chance. His knowledge and experience were very helpful in making my decisions. Most importantly, the timely service and quality of the work was great. I had a subsequent emergency need while I was out of state were and Michael went above and beyond to save the day. I live a good 20 miles away and his fair pricing and tremendous service make the drive well worth the time!

Bergelt Opticians is one of a kind.I brought a pair of glasses in for repair that between lens,frames and progressive lens cost $300 at a local shop.I brought them back and was told they could not be fixed.After 15 minutes in the shop Mike said he can fix it but to expedite he'll send it out and finish it up in his shop.less than a week later I received a call that they will be ready the following day . This is the first optician that makes his own glasses and even know I have insurance I'd much rather pay out of pocket for a real professional job.Bergelt has the most updated lens ,Frames and machinery. Give it a try you will be happily surprised. The last of the Mom and Pop stores that you can depend on.

Mike Bergelt is the most technically advanced and proficient optician I have worked with in 55 years of wearing glasses. His father was an optician as well. He uses special equipment, like polishing the edges of lenses so they are clear on the edges and performs other extra steps to make the lenses and frames perfect. He's also a wonderful person with deep roots in the community and a passion for helping people. His prices are very very reasonable. I have moved to California from New Jersey and still go to mike!
