Terrible, Ive been trying for months to get an annuity surrendered to me. They continually ignore my request, don’t contact me when there is a problem. It has literally been months of me trying to get my money.

If only I could give no star. Consistently poor customer service. I have spent many hours on the phone. Getting hardly anywhere. Over quite a period of time. No follow through. Hardly ever a kept promise, no matter how clear and simple I state the issues. Want an annuity? Run away, unless you enjoy frustration. Ridiculous to deal with this company.

I've been contacting them for nearly 3 months trying to collect on an insurance policy my mother's parents bought over 80 years ago. I've completed forms and called many times. They keep telling me they've sent me an form to complete and the mail is slow. Really? Today I called, put all the details into the automated system and then was told they were closed and was cut off. I've managed to close my mother's ira and settle other things in this time. Even with the slow mail. They are clearly trying to wear me down so they can hang on to the money. Rotten customer service at the very least.

I'm trying to reach Brighthouse Financial by phone number given on the back of my yearly statement, which by the way have not received one for the current year 2023 should have received in March 2023. I got on the phone to find out what was going on? No answer at all. I purchased my life insurance policy in 2006 from Met Life they switched it over to Brighthouse Financial. I started reading the reviews on Brighthouse and now believe you me I'm worried that something is terribly wrong. I make my payments monthly by way of direct payment from my checking account, and every month they do deduct my payment. I cannot believe that there is not one person you can contact to get information on your life insurance policy. Met Life handled everything so well in the past. I sure do have my doubts and concerns now with Brighthouse. Hoping someone out there can shed some light on this problem with Brighthouse.

This is the worst company to deal with and I would not recommend to anyone. Unfortunately when I enrolled in life insurance with my mom it was with a different company and was switched to them. They are VERY unhelpful and have terrible customer service.

Upon the death of my mother and dealing with many financial institutions and various probate red tape-- Brighthouse was the absolute worst. Every answer from customer service is different. The paperwork is confusing (even the lawyers office did it wrong). What they sent and what they say for instructions contradict each other. They are horrible. I have sent paperwork in 4 times and had a lawyer finally do it and it is still wrong. This is unnecessary as I have dealt with so many other companies at the same time that our so helpful and make things easy. I would avoid them if you ever want to get your money out.

Only use if you NEVER plan to leave money to your family. They simply will NOT release the funds. Multiple phone calls, for an hour each time, signing edocuments, only to have the request denied EVERY time. Now contacting a lawyer, which costs me money, to get the funds my father left for my sister and I. DO NOT USE THEM.

This company is as crooked as they come! Impossible to reach and they will just steal your hard earned money and make up excuses and pass the buck. After 25 years of being a client they just took my money and of course no one can help. I began having issues with them and getting the run around, I seen the writing on the wall and requested they close my account and pay me the balance in my account. I had one of their employees verify the amount that I would receive etc. A few weeks later I got a letter in the mail that stated there was no money on a 25 year old account because it was all absorbed in fees. CROOKS. I hope it's worth your soul for every employee that works for this shady company that is just stmeals from people. My advice loo somewhere else if you really need life insurance.

I have three annuities from Brighthouse totaling over $300,000.00One would think you would receive decent customer support. Customer support, however, is atrocious. When I called I was answered by a call center in Manila, Phillipines. I had concerns about an annuity that had come to maturity. The representative had poor English and gave me incorrect information when I asked about the policy. I asked to speak with her supervisor who was equally inept at English and also gave me incorrect information after trying to communicate with him for over 25 minutes. I ended the exchange without my questions answered and with erroneous information being given I discovered later.I later called another Brighthouse 800 number and this time got a rep in the U.S. whose English was OK. After speaking with her for ten minutes she put me on hold and said she had to get some additional information. After being lefton hold for over 25 minutes I gave up and hanged up.Customer Service is infuriating and worthless. My savings are tied up with this company to a large degree and I am very nervous about it as they clearly care little about their policy holders or annuitants.

Apparently there have been changes with customer support at Brighthouse Financial Services. The number provided on the website goes to the wrong division of the company. The number given when calling the old number works up until you are "connected" to a representative then it disconnects. Trying to reach a local agent assigned to the policy is futile as well as there is only a voicemail.DO NOT PURCHASE FROM BRIGHTHOUSE

Called customer service to get information on a LTC policy that a family member has been paying premiums on for 20+ years and now needs to access. After a multi-step phone tree, I reached a human "policy information rep" who could not answer basic coverage questions without putting me on hold for five minutes for each question. Furthermore, I requested a copy of the policy (I had policy number, ID info and the policy-holder all there). They need 7-10 business days to process the request plus an additional 24 hours after the approval to email a copy of the policy That the family member has been paying 5K/year in premiums for years. This is not an insurance company that is prepared to be transparent or helpful with policyholders.

These people are the cheapest company I have ever dealt with. My 97 year old father passed away on August 19, 2022. He had been receiving a very small $113.57/mo. pension that was administered by Brighthouse Financial. A few days after his passing I alerted Brighthouse to the death to let them know to stop his pension payments. His pension was paid the first day of every month and he received that payment for August on 8/1/22. A few days after alerting them to his death they sent me a letter asking for refunding of the August pension( all $113.57). This annoyed me so much that i sent back a prorated check for $43.96 which was the prorated amount for the 12 days he was not alive in August. Well a week or so later I received a letter back with my returned check as it was not for the proper amount. Then a day or so later they went into his checking account a clawed back the $113.57. I will never recommend anyone use this company as this in my opinion is so immature. Even the Social Security Administration only takes back a prorated amount for the month where there is a death of someone on Social security.

Disastrous customer service at best. I spent 6 weeks trying to cash out an old 401k from 35 years ago. Incompetence abounds at Brighthouse. STAY VERY FAR AWAY.

I have been a policyholder for the past twenty years, when I retired this January, I withdrew my money. After I received my check, I found out they deducted an early withdrawal fee. I have been dealing with this since March and I still haven't received my money. What terrible business practice, I am beyond disgusted with this company and would not them to anyone. LaVerne

If you are employers, please don’t use their services. Your employees should be treated better. If you have choice, don’t contribute your 401k with them. They screw up your things a lot, including contribution amounts. they correct it slow, and they don’t care.Every year, I can find some my contributions not hit my account. You told them to fix, it takes them weeks even months to correct their errors. Then the investment allocation is still incorrect. The back and forth follow up emails and phone calls can really waste your time, and ruin your peace of mind. Not worth. If you are employers, don’t use them. Your employees deserve better services.
