  I can’t say enough wonderful things about Carol at Lighten Up Salon in Budd Lake! From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like you’re in expert hands. Carol is not only incredibly talented with color, cuts, and styling—she’s also warm, attentive, and truly listens to what you want.
  
  She took the time to understand my hair goals and gave me a look that exceeded my expectations. My hair has never looked or felt better! She’s a true artist and perfectionist in the best way. On top of that, the salon has such a welcoming, relaxing vibe—it’s clear Carol cares deeply about her clients and their experience.
  
  If you’re looking for a hairstylist who is professional, creative, and genuinely kind, Carol is your girl. I feel so lucky to have found her, and I honestly can’t imagine going anywhere else!

  My (very picky) daughter had a haircut with Erin and I (with difficult curls), with Sam. Both of us left totally thrilled with our new styles. Very reasonable pricing for the Master Stylist. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the establishment was clean and had an upbeat energy. We'll be back!

  I’ve been going to Lighten Up Salon for about a year now, and it’s always been a great experience. I regularly get my hair cut by Carol—she’s truly amazing!
  
  For my recent wedding, Elvisa did both my hair and makeup, and I couldn't have been happier. She took her time, listened carefully to everything I envisioned, and made any adjustments I asked for without hesitation. Thanks to Elvisa, I felt absolutely flawless on my big day.
  
  My mom also had her hair and makeup done for the wedding by Dee, and she looked stunning. Even more importantly, she felt beautiful—and couldn’t stop talking about how kind and warm Dee was throughout the entire experience.
  
  If you're looking for hair and makeup for a wedding or special event, I highly recommend Elvisa and Dee. They’re both incredibly talented and a joy to work with!

  No one tries to do what I want, never listening, never advising before they cut into it, they always go ahead and do whatever they want, not understanding what I asked for, even with pictures. At my last haircut I was on the edge of my seat and super uncomfortable, Dee was very confident. In the end I almost had a heart attack and do not like the result at all. Dee said that's what I told her.... So its my fault. Sometimes a little more communication and reinsurance would be useful. Again: my hair is off! Can't reverse it. The whole procedure was nerve wracking and the result nauseating.

  I have been a loyal customer at Lighten Up Salon & Spa in Budd Lake for over two years and have always appreciated their services—until my recent experience with the manager, Danielle. Unfortunately, I had an appointment that ran late, and as soon as I could, I called the salon to inform them I was running behind. Danielle was rude and short on the phone, immediately citing their 48-hour policy. While I understand policies are important, her tone and lack of empathy were off-putting.
  
  When I arrived, she told me I could only receive one service due to the time left. I chose the color service, and left with my hair wet, she would not give me anyone to blow dry my hair, and at checkout, she again reminded me of the policy and said, “We are not playing any games.” I found that comment completely unnecessary and rude, especially given my long-standing relationship with the salon.
  
  Later, I called to express how her comment made me feel, but she dismissed my concerns, saying it’s her job to share the policy for future appointments. While I respect the need for professionalism and policies, the way she handled the situation left me feeling disrespected and unappreciated as a customer.
  
  This experience was incredibly disappointing and has soured what was once a trusted relationship. Sadly, I will not be returning to Lighten Up Salon & Spa.

  Unprofessional place. Had an appt today, confirmed yesterday that I’d be there, got a call today and was told my hairdresser was out sick, was unsure “what she had or when she’d be back”. Unfortunately that wasn’t the true story however not my business but what I believe should have been done especially on a Saturday, one of the hardest days to get an appt anywhere else or with a stylist you already trust in enough to do your hair, was allow the hairdresser to work out this day and at least give people a days notice for future cancellations. There was no consideration for the full day of clients scheduled and no accommodations spoke about over the phone when front desk called. Very unprofessional and disappointing. At the end of the day, these stylist are working under the name of the shop and how you handle these situations will only reflect the place as a whole and not the individual hairdresser.

  This was the first time I was at lighten up hair salon. Yesterday. I had Elvisa as my stylist. She completely transformed my color, my highlights, color, and my cut. I walked out a different person in a very good way. ? Elvisa and lighten up salon. Just learned a new client. Thank you so much!

  My concern is I used to go here for years and had a great stylist/color person and she left. I came back here after a year or two and have had three cuts with 3 different hair dressers due to them leaving(all with 4 months). The first cut was good and a clean up job. The second one I loved as well. The problem with the last one and that after I started styling my way I see that it is cut too short and has a few chops in that need smoothing out. Am going back to have it fixed by my 4th stylist....a glutton for punishment.... but may be looking for a new place. Its a shame, it was a really good place at one time.
  
  UPDATE: They saw my review and when I went in they treated me wonderful and set me with Dee. She was wonderful! Hopefully I will see her again in a few weeks :)
