While visiting a family member at Jersey Shore Hospital, we were told by Nurse Eun Sun to go away, patient is sleeping. We were taken off guard by this person's rudeness. We had not even entered into our relative's room when she said this to us. It's all in the delivery of the message. She could've just suggested to give her more time of rest before visiting (that would've been totally reasonable). Part of a hospital's reputation comes from their amazing care for their patients as well as their respectful communication to their loved ones.

Currently sitting in a hallway that is considered an emergency room. First time here and a little shocked at the way this operates. Homeless men are using the ER to come in and sleep. One has been snoring for hours so people with real issues can’t rest. Patients placed so close together in the hallway we’re going to end up with a sickness. Dr and nurses have been good but the environment is terrible

I was brought in by ambulance on a Sunday afternoon I didn’t want to go but being that I was in a Accident and was unconscious for a few minutes The great people in the ambulance said I had to go there. The ambulance people were wonderful when I was brought into this hospital. It was terrible treatment because it was a Sunday afternoon and it was getting close to the change of their shifts I believe. I was treated really bad made to feel bad, a nurse started yelling there isn’t a scratch on you. I had a concussion just terrible treatment. I was shook up and really confused they kept asking if I had mental issues or if I drink or do drugs. The doing the body scan, would not even answer me when I was speaking at the end when I kept saying I was so thirsty the nurse brought me Ginger ale. I asked if I could have water instead, she stormed out got water, slammed it down, took the straw from the ginger ale, still dripping into the water and stuck it in there. That’s how I had a drink it, what a brutal bunch

I would give this hospital 5 stars because overall this hospital is amazing, and has amazing nurses, and doctors, but today my fiancé, and I had a bad experience at the nicu. I recently just had twin boys, and they were admitted to the nicu, and one of them recently just got out a week ago, and our other son is still there. My fiancé, and I brought our son that just got out of the nicu to the hospital to go sit in the Michaels feat room that’s private only for the nicu families, and we had to feed him, and we got told we couldn’t bring him in the room because he was “exposed” to the outside world which makes no sense because so are us people who are allowed to go into the nicu. The security guard didn’t even scan us in, or check our bands, or even tell us we can’t bring our baby into the nicu. We got told by the head nurse of the nicu only 12 and up are allowed in the hospital, but the security stayed letting us in. The nicu head nurse basically made us feel like bad parents for bringing our baby into the hospital because of germs, and said if it was her kid she wouldn’t have brought him to the hospital, and if he gets sick he has to wait 18+ hours in the hospital waiting for a bed which was very uncalled for but we have twins, and just wanted to show up for our other son. Very sad. These nicu workers, and security guards need to be on the same page with their rules, because what they did today was very wrong, and unprofessional.

Don't go here unless you've been shot. My child came in after a 17 minute plus seizure (never had one before). Was stuck on a gurney in PEDS ER and the young nurses were pissed, rude, overworked and uncaring. Drs clustered in corners bitching about how JSMC isn't paying them or being covid safe. I watched a teenager get absolutely badgered by two inappropriate horrendous Social Worker/Therapists. The boy was in a chair in public like we were. HIPAA violations galore. Dr was hostile, sat behind nurses station scrolling on his phone, legs and knees spread wide, scrolling PC but not working. He orders ONLY a 15 second EKG and does TWO labs on one blood sample and then only after an hour of 'what the hell is happening?' He tells me to take her home and get her therapy and tosses his clipboard on her lap. I contacted Mike Seeley, Dir of The ER at JS and RVMC and he never responded. I complained about the cokehead ER attending who threw a clipboard on a 14 year olds lap after she was utterly traumatized by seizure. ZERO tests. Referred me to myself to do all the planning to get her tested. I got an appt with JSMC's Peds Neurologist. Young cheaper by the dozen doctor AGAIN. I tell her whole story and she says, "I'm not going to order any scans." I was furious and she knew I'd be. Go home, less than a week later multiple seizures starting at home. Go to Mon Medical. They don't put us through this. Attending says, "Not gonna waste your time, you had a real seizure, not a 'tonic clonic'" WHich is what JSMC and EMS said. (men treating us like we were exaggerating, all of them, except for the peds neurologist at JSMC) . She says there's something on her brain. They transport to RWJH because no one in Monmouth County is safe to go near your brain. They care for her and diagnose her but they booted us out and again, I had to find a neurosurgeon, all were out of network. It was a total nightmare. Oh, and NEVER EVER go to JS Behavioral Health> Especially stay away from Jennifer Levine, ANP. She will call 988 PESS on you, she has no verifiable license when you type her number into state databases. She never states where all of her 'decades of Masters work was done ANYWHERE' and that didn't show up in a state database either! Frauds 4 U!

This is my second experience with HMHJSUMC. Neither has been particularly glowing. The first time in, the ER doctor near sent my relative home, because in his words, "She's an older woman. If this were my mother, I'd tell her she was fine and send her home." Thank goodness my relative and I demanded further testing (as her primary care physician recommended- he sent her to the ER based on lab results), or her pulmonary emboli (yes, plural) would have been missed due to one doctor's "perceived" misogyny and ageism. This time, my relative was brought to the ER with a fracture. She was left in the ER for 26 hours NPO because she needed surgery. After she sat for 26 hours in the ER without eating or drinking, the hospital realized there were no ORs available, and she was allowed to have a meal before being NPO at midnight. Her surgery was finally scheduled at 6 pm- 46 hours after she was initially admitted. 46 hours; 40 of which she was not allowed to eat or drink. I witnessed staff members with little, if any, understanding of body mechanics move her around (if you can call being ripped from the gurney to the bed "moving"), thus causing her even more extreme pain at the location of her fracture. The nurses in the ER were caring and compassionate.

My father has cancer and is currently a patient. Horrible treatment. His table will have his pee bottle and other garbage on it for hours before someone throws it out. Not once has he been properly washed and it took about a week before they even started to clean him in bed. His doctors want him in a room alone so he doesn’t catch anything. Last week they tried moving him in with someone else, but did not succeed. Now he will be leaving for rehabilitation tomorrow and he just told me they are moving him to another room with someone. Come on, leave the poor man alone. No sympathy over there.

I have been coming to this hospital and outpatient for years. The last couple years with more outpatient services the parking is absolutely a nightmare. You have expanded your services but forgot about parking. Took me 35mins to find parking. As a disabled person having to walk as far as I did is unacceptable. Not enough handicap spots, valet can not control the amount of cars coming in and parking them, and the parking garage to far to walk to my outpatient appts two building over. People double parking causing more issues and an accident waiting to happen in parking lot. I understand the construction in parts but this still is no excuse. Do better for your patients and their safety in the parking lot. Get parking across the way and offer rides to the buildings, less valet parking spots that are always not used.

My son recently had emergency surgery at Jersey Shore Medical Hospital. From the minute we walked into the Emergency Department until post-surgery discharge, our family experienced exemplary care. From the Residents in the Emergency Department, to Administration, along with the Nurses on call, the Anesthologist and Anesthetist staff, to the gifted hands of the Surgeon, my son and my entire family were treated with kindness, and compassion. This made the emergent situation less stressful for our family and for our son, who came through his surgery like a champ. We never have experienced such a high a level of care from people who seem to truly love what they do, which is helping people! Jersey Shore will be the ONLY hospital in New Jersey that I or my family will ever use going forward. Thank you, Jersey Shore Medical Center!

I was in the hospital for a total of 10 days. I received excellent treatment during 3 days in the ICU by the staff. Unfortunately the equipment didn't work properly half the time. The rest of my stay I was in 2 different areas of the hospital. In both cases, the nurses are understaffed and overwhelmed and overworked. Their aids need to be better trained. If I had a choice to pick a hospital , it would NOT be this hospital
