Don’t rent cars from AVIS at EWR. The staffing was horrible. There was at least 6 to 7 groups ahead of me…. There was only 1 AVIS rep to help the clients. They didn’t make any effort to bring more people to help. They don’t seem to give a s—t. Also, Hertz allows the client to pick their own vehicle. With Avis, it’s a Russian roulette.

The staff was so unorganized and not professional. I was charged for an ez-pass and the vehicle did not have one. Will avoid renting from them in the future.

Great experience, didn’t have the car I booked at pick up, but another one was quickly assigned at no extra charge(larger vehicle). Drop off very smooth indeed, took a few seconds!

I use Avis rental almost every day across the US. On average, I would rate the service as 4 out of 5 stars based on my experiences. However, this time I am giving this location a 1-star rating. While the car and convenience were very good, there was one major issue: the receipt (# 667624484) I received after returning the car on time showed a charge that was twice as much as indicated in the confirmation letter (#41201637US1). It seems they provided a more expensive car and then charged me accordingly. Be aware of this discrepancy.Thanks, but no thanks, Avis.When I decide to spend more money, I will do it by myself, I don't need an assistant.

The car rental pickup and drop off at Newark Airport was extremely efficient. I received a car that was clean and met all of my needs. The price was quite reasonable. Car pickup and drop off is adjacent to the terminal, always a plus.

Customer service was top tier picking up and dropping off!!!! However only thing I didn't like is when I booked online I chose American muscle dodge challenger rt v8 5.7 liter hemi but I ended up with Mustang v6 which was a beautiful car.

Honestly, it was not the best experience, although the person who assisted us was friendly and even though my husband did not travel with me (the reservation was in his name), she gave me the car without any problem.The car they gave us, first of all for the price we paid for less than 1 day (we picked it up at 7am and delivered it at 11:30pm) was expecting a newer car and at least with Apple Car Play but for us Surprise, they gave us an old model GMC, it rained on our way back to Newark and the windshield wipers didn't work, we couldn't see well on the road, one of the tires had 52 psi, CRAZY and dangerous, they don't bother to do a service on it. I check the cars so that they are suitable for any condition that may arise for the renter.I will NEVER use this company again, first and last time.

I will never rent from AVIS again. At one point in time, AVIS had a legendary ad campaign (“We are no. 2, We try harder.”). I have had the most disappointing and frustrating service experiences with AVIS. Here is how it transpired, because of which I have now rented from HERTZ (and always will, from now on) -1. I rented a small SUV from AVIS through the United airlines App, from Newark airport, to be dropped off at Tampa airport, a week later.2. On the second day, for two flat tires on I-95 South near Baltimore BWI airport. Many other cars in front of us were affected too.3. I called AVIS roadside assistance, and they arranged for a tow truck which came after 2 hours! We were 4 miles from BWI airport, and it was 7 pm on a weekday. Yet, it took them 2 hours to arrive. They dropped us at the BWI airport rental car center, where no one knew anything about where that car should be dropped off and what happens next.3. After an hour (yes, an hour), we were given a massive minivan and were told that’s the only car available (at an airport rental center!). We were then told to exchange the minivan for an SUV the next morning, as “cars were being cleaned, and there will be dozens of cars available in the morning, including SUVs.” We therefore decided not to drive any further south as we had planned to, but got hotel rooms near the BWI airport for the night so that we could exchange this massive, gas guzzling minivan for a small SUV the next morning.4. When we returned the next morning, we were told (by a very rude associate and their supervisor) that there were only “pick-up trucks” available. We told them about what happened last night and that we stayed back in the area only because we were assured of the original vehicle we booked (SUV).5. Despite patiently explaining everything to the both of them, they were rude and yelled at us. We asked to cancel the contract and they charged us extra for dropping it here instead of Tampa! So we ended up not receiving any service and got charged extra! WeAfter this horror, went to Hertz and rented at the next counter! They were courteous, professional, and had a choice of vehicles in every class. Thank God for Hertz!My question to United - why did you switch partnering with Hertz? Why AVIS? I will never rent AVIS again and never use the United app to make these car rental bookings! Lesson learned.

The car provided was not the type reserved; and as I drove to my destination I discovered it had something called a "death wobble". Road assistance stated it could take up to 6 hours to get to me and suggested I "drive slowly".
