I received a blowout for my birthday, and while the hairstyle looked great, I encountered an issue when I washed my hair to return it to its natural state (which is type 4c). It didn't revert back at all; it remained straight. I thought it might have just been me, so I washed it again, but it stayed the same.
Now that a few months have passed since my birthday, I can share my experience. For the first month, my hair resembled type 1a. Then, I wore braids, and now my hair looks more like type 3b, and it has stayed that way for a while.
The extreme high heat and chemicals in the products have permanently straightened my hair and changed my curl pattern.
Additionally, my hair smelled burnt for two months after my visit.

They put relaxer in the products. After going there ONE TIME, my curl pattern has completely changed.
Black women - do not go here!

If I could give this place zero starts I would. If you are BLACK WOMAN WITH NATURAL HAIR DO NOT COME HERE BEWARE! I did not read the reviews because my sister referred this places to me and it was the worst decision! She got a doobie and curls and I went the best day for the same thing and both of our hair was destroyed! Extreme high heat and chemicals in the products have left our hair permanently straightened and our curl pattern is gone!!!

I called trying to get a price, she says āno price by phoneā and hangs the phone up in my face. Why would I waste my gas to go somewhere without a set price ? You can easily consult me on the phone and ask my the length and thickness of my hair. Do better .. and make set prices ..

If you have natural hair please DONT come to this place. I received a blowout and when I kept telling the lady to add heat protectant and that the blow dryer was too hot she said ok and kept putting the dryer in the same spot. My natural hair fell out by the handfuls and is now recovering after a year. Please spend your money somewhere else. They are unskilled and unprofessional. They talk about their customers in Spanish and roll their eyes and suck their teeth if you tell them how to deal with your hair. They are only concerned with money and donāt know how to care for 4a/4b or 4c hair.

Iāve gotten just one blow out at this salon and these women kept raising the price of my blow out because my hair is natural and thick and long. The Dominican woman was growing frustrated with my healthy 4c hair so she kept apply unnecessary heat to it. I told her to stop adding too much heat to my hair and she says āMami, Iāve been doing this for 10 yearsā. As a result of this blow out, when I washed my hair: it did not revert back to its original state. I had to cut inches of hair off. If you want your natural hair to be permanently bone straight (damaged) then you will love this salon.

Iāve been going to Doriās for years. They have never disappointed me until recently. I am natural. I havenāt gotten a perm or used any harsh chemicals in my hair since 2016. My hair grew so well after me keeping it up for so long. I get doobies every couple of months just to check my growth. After this doobie however my hair is a mess. I had a beautiful curl pattern, it is gone. While washing my hair, I smelled the smell of a fresh perm so bad, but I didnāt think anything of it, that smell is common in a beauty salon. Once I got blown out and pressed I knew there was a problem. My hair was so flat and dry looking, which was odd because I just got a trim and the ends looked like a broom stick. A couple days later my hair still reeks of a perm. Everyone can smell on it me when I walk in the room or sit in the car. I washed my hair and blew it myself, still the same smell. Itās coming out at the root, and the curl pattern is gone.
I want to seek legal action because they are damaging peoples hair.

I'm not one to write reviews but I have to write it, I've been going to this salon for many months, to be honest I love how the women blow the blower but the owner is very lively I'm sorry to say , I had already seen that here in the reviews they had said that she He starts charging 25 and then he raises you to 30 and 35, well I said let me check this, well I have to say that it is true, the first time I went she told me 35 okay everything is fine, well it turns out that suddenly she tells me after so much they are $40 and I told her it's not 35 that you charge me? She stays silent, she can't find what to say to me and I tell her, you want to raise the price at once, my hair is not the length of a $40 dollar price, so she answers me not.... life is that you increase it and I stay silent and I say wow and I say bye. I'm sorry to say that they are very good at doing hair but the owner doesn't help, she wants to be very tiguera, that's just why it was my last time in that salon.

Hey just wanted to inform that Doris didn't feel like doing my Natural hair she stated or motioned with her arms it was to much work. She also had a sign posted that said 25 dollars but on my ticket she wrote 35 dollars without ever seeing the length of my hair due to me not frequenting there often. I felt that was poor service on her part. Caution when you go there they price gouge. I did inform her I would report this to the Mayor of Newark. We spend our coins with non Americans and this is the treatment we receive... More natural hair salons are needed. This location is on Springfield ave and 20th street itās called Doris. They do natural but if itās really thick itās to much work . ? isnāt that what your in business for ??āāļø

My friend came to this salon for a deep condition and they added a Keritan treatment with out her consent. Her hair has completely been damaged to the point that she now has to start over. Yes she has a complete brush cut now. Her hair was chest length when she went and lost all her healthy long hair. Pictures provided.
I wouldn't recommend. Very dangerous to add things to people hair without their consent.
