DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station is a convenient and comfortable hotel ideal for travelers visiting the Newark and New York City area. Its location across from Newark Penn Station provides easy access to Manhattan, just two stops and 19 minutes away, making it a popular choice for those wanting to stay close to NYC. The hotel offers clean, modern rooms with comfortable beds, and some guests appreciate the spaciousness and good TV quality. The staff is generally friendly and accommodating, often providing small extras like goodie bags or late checkouts for Hilton Honors members. The hotel features an indoor walkway connecting directly to the train station, enhancing walkability during the day, though some guests note safety concerns about walking around the area at night due to panhandlers and perceived safety issues outside the hotel. Guests enjoy the made-to-order breakfast at reasonable prices and the signature Hilton chocolate chip cookies at check-in. The hotelās proximity to Prudential Center and other Newark attractions is a plus, especially for those attending events. On the downside, some reviewers mention that the bathroom can be small and awkward to navigate, with issues like high sinks and short hot water duration. The hotel appears a bit dated in parts, with some stains on curtains or floors, and the vending area has questionable pricing. Parking, while more affordable than city rates, can be tricky to find and somewhat cramped. Overall, the hotel is seen as a good, safe base for Newark visits, especially for those traveling to or from NYC, with friendly staff and decent amenities.
Waited forever for shuttle. Not even a bottle of drinking water in the room. Beds were terrible. This joint needs a serious revamp. Breafast downstairs was good at least.

Amazing staff and customer service. Amenities and stores are plentifulš. The breakfast thou paid for was absolutely amazing. The location is the sweet spot. Jump on the NJ transit to NY for less than $6pp and get there in little to no time. NJ and NY is at your pleasure when staying here at this hotel.

When traveling to this one for over several years the Five Boro Bike Tour I don't know what changed after covid but the staff's attitude is out of control, if you don't like your job please don't work there. I love it for its location, One Stop away from New York!
