Excellent cheese selection + fresh pastas. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. My husband and I always stop in to browse and taste, and end up leaving with a wonderful selection of items.

I wish there was an option to give 10 stars! I've been to the store itself several times, attended one beer/cheese public class, and recently held a private event for a Mozzarella making class. Customer service was wonderful! Tables were beautifully decorated, food was delicious, and the ambiance was intimate and charming! A great time was had by all, largely due to their hospitality and delicious selection. We are currently considering our next event! Great for groups, families, and dates . Recommend many times over.

This is a review for the cheese class alone. I gave this class as a Christmas gift to my girlfriend, thinking that it would be fun to learn more about cheese considering how often we found ourselves trying different kinds of cheese to pair with our wines. Let's start with the pros: - selection of cheeses was good - accoutrements were plentiful (nuts, dried fruit, bread, jams) - cheap wine served its purpose Now the cons: - Instructor left a lot to be desired. Lack of presentation skills, inability to explain simple concepts clearly, not answering questions and instead substituting in stories that were neither helpful nor funny/interesting (no one cares if a certain cheese is your favorite, and even if it is, no need to repeat it so many times) - we learned very little. Over the course of 90 minutes we were hoping to learn about different varieties of cheese, some history, some process, maybe learn about some cheese makers and a little about their journey and what makes them unique. Let's just say i learned more after reading a few sites for 10-15 minutes on the internet. - not enough structure. Like another review below stated, the class was more of a "try the next cheese. What do you like about it? What didn't you like? Ok That's fair." (These lines were repeated over and over again. Felt like a really bad home ec class)

Sub-par cheese class My wife and I took the Cheese 101 class at Murray's and were not particularly impressed. The $80, allegedly 90 minute class only lasted about 45 minutes. The cheese, wine, and nuts were all enjoyable, but the class mostly consisted of, "Taste the next cheese...what do you think? What do you taste?" We were hoping for more depth in terms of what cheeses go best with certain wines or certain foods, or a bit more background into the cheese making process. The instructor basically asked the students if we liked the cheese and what notes we tasted, and then we moved on. It all felt a bit rushed, uninformative, and frankly, overpriced. We definitely won't be taking another class.

Murray's Cheese opened in Greenwich Village back in 1940, and is the oldest cheese shop in NYC. Murray's sells cheeses from all around the world, but they also make their own artisanal cheeses in their "caves" in Long Island City. Their selection is wide and you will definitely find a cheese to fit your palate, but if you're not sure what you want, ask the clerks--they're usually very helpful. As a tourist, it's worth a visit for both its historical and culinary significance.

It all makes sense now... I attended a cheese and wine tasting course and learned the hard way that they literally mean "TASTING." All six of my wine glasses were taken by waitstaff and poured out. Even though I was seated, in my seat, they didn't bother to ask if I was finished. Had I known that Murray's Cheese is now owned by KROGER, I would have gone somewhere with manners.

We were walking down Bleecker Street and happened to find Murray's. It's an awesome cheese and deli place. I ordered a sandwich for my plane ride home and it was worth the stop. I ordered the Smoky Speck (fig spread with prosciutto, smoked Gouda with arugula on a baguette). It was the boom.

Such a great speciality store! They have so many types of cheese, preserves, and chocolate! I could spend forever just looking at everything. The melt bar takes some time to get your order, but it's worth the wait. The Gramercy Tavern special sandwich was so good! Hopefully they do another collab soon. They also have so many flavors or chocolate covered almonds and malt balls! Pumpkin spice ones are the perfect stocking stuffers!!

I've you're looking for a great selection of meats and cheeses, look no further than Murray's. This is a one stop shop for all of your charcuterie needs. Perfect for entertaining or for hostess gifts. The cheeses are top quality and they offer a wide variety. All of the meats are also really delicious.

Lots and lots of cheese at this place. You might even say its cheeeeesy. Ordered the Murrays Melt, the bread was grilled to a golden crisp and cheese was spreading beautifully when splitting the melt. Two bar tables are located by columns with limited bar stools.
