We have been going to 2040 Tax Service for the past 11 years. Rich is professional personal and one of the best accountants we know. I would refer anyone to him because he's just too nice. He always makes the time to answer any questions you may have whether via phone or email.

I have used 1040 tax service for the last three or four years, and to be fair, I was happy with service in years past. This year, however, service was borderline inept. I dropped my documents off in April and had to call in July to see if anything had been submitted. Answer: “I can see your envelope in the pile.” Two weeks later, I called again, at which time my envelope was on the “top of the pile.” Rich called me back and said he was submitting my return and gave me the information. I called again, two weeks later, to ask about the status of my return, only to find that nothing had been submitted, as I hadn’t paid. At no time did anyone ask for payment, nor did anyone explain that it hadn’t been submitted. Upon hearing this, I paid immediately over the phone, and I was unhappy to hear that filing my taxes cost me $100 more than it did last year.
Long story short: I paid more money for less service, and I’m not sure if I would have even received service if I hadn’t called them five times over the four months it took them to submit my tax return.

I chose to seek help with taxes from 1040 tax service in Newton because they have a sign that advertises 99 dollar tax service. I have never gotten my taxes done at 1040 tax service and I never will. They quoted me 300 dollars for tax services. The receptionist is rude. This place is a total scam. If I could give zero stars I would. Stay clear and far from 1040 Tax Service of Newton. They are total scam artists.

While the support staff is lovely, the Accountant, Richard Lance, is completely incompetent, unreliable and refuses to even hear about the mistakes he has made and the damage he has caused.**I went to him in 2018 and am STILL waiting for $$ and the IRS to figure out what the heck he did wrong.AND TRUST ME.. DON'T BELIEVE HIS WHOLE SONG AND DANCE ABOUT HAVING COVID, BEING HOSPITALIZED, ON A VENT.. BLAH BLAH BLAH... HE SCREWED ME OVER LOOOOONG BEFORE COVID, SO ITS JUST ANOTHER EXCUSE ON HIS PART.. I've had COVID 5 times.. so apples to apples.. his little vacation at the hospital was a stunt, no doubt.. that's what people like this do... Lie. Cheat. Steal.

THE worst mistake I've ever made was going to this so called accountant.. what a joke this guy is.. still waiting for mistakes he made in 2016 to be corrected.. I have lost SO MUCH MONEY because of this jerk.He doesn't 'do callbacks' so forget about any sort of Integrity on his end.. there isn't any.Hey Rich.. I've called your office dozens and dozens and dozens of times.. I want every single penny I paid you returned to me.. you did Nothing but create disaster. You Did Not provide the Service you were paid for.. you have done NOTHING to even attempt Cleaning up your mess.. I want my money back.Taking my money on your self statement of being a professional is a LIE and I want my money returned to me! To not return it would be an act of theft on your part as you provided Nothing as promised.. only headaches and numerous examples that prove your ineptness.RETURN MY MONEY

Save yourself a World of trouble, time, frustration and money... THIS is not the 'type' of "accountant" that Wise people who care about their finances go to! Good God, do yourself a favor.. Be in better hands and find some kid that just passed the in house H&R Block test. There's not a doubt in my mind that it would all be handled better that way than what Richard Lance could EVER do for you!
