Took a thrift shop Denon cassette desk in for repair, took a little time and not inexpensive, but I was very happy with the results. Based on this I brought in my 32 year old Pioneer deck for refurbishment, again happy with the results.

This is based on a phone conversation... they told me upfront what it would cost for a diagnostic and even went so far as to explain that the diagnostic may be disproportionate to the personal value of the item to me personally. He also knew what he was talking about in regard to repairs. That is good business practice.
