Our First Stay at Harris House
This was our very first time at Harris House (Sept. 30 thru Oct. 3, 2025).
Our room was extremely clean. Even the ceiling fan/vent in the bathroom (which is often overlooked) was very clean as well. Each staff member was friendly, helpful and courteous, both on the phone and in person. The entire facility was very well kept even into the off-season. The pool was open and several guests sat at the umbrella tables reading and snacking. There was ample parking with one-way in and out. HH is in a great location with less than a half block walk to the boardwalk/beach. My sister and I stayed in a queen double which had lots of storage. Bedding was very comfortable and the room was beautifully decorated. The inclusion of a round table with two chairs was a nice convenience. The property was well-lit in the evening hours. If we could make one recommendation it would be that the traditional bathtub would be fitted with safety grab bars or better yet, a walk-in shower. All in all, we were very pleased with Harris House and we hope to return next season, Lord willing.

This has been our favorite September beach go to place. Secure a mini-week early spring so when fall comes around all you need to do is show up. We love the cleanliness of the rooms, location directly behind the boardwalk at 12th street. Your checkout day gives you the flexibility of still using the pool and facilities before you head for home. That's a great perk so you don't have to drive home sandy. The only issue that they are currently working on is bicycle storage during your stay. A very small bike rack is the preferred storage but securing them to the railing by the office presents a possible hazard for cars entering and exiting. Work in progress. Not enough to keep us away. Looking forward to 2026.

Harris House has been one of our favorite places for more than 10 years now. Probably, one of the best things about it is the staff. The same people come back to work there year after year (or possibly work there year round). They are all very polite and professional. There has never been an issue with our stay that wasn't immediately corrected. It's at a great location in the middle of the boardwalk. ine of the nicest things is how everything is painted (upkeep) and all of the items in the rooms work (outlets, faucets, a/c, etc). Harris House is a great value for the money and is kept quite clean. The pool is even warm towards the end of the season so I'm going to assume it might be heated. The pool area is great for eating lunch or dinner and for playing poker!

Staff were wonderful all the way around. Great location on 12th st and the boardwalk. Set back from the boards so not loud at night. Beach tags and one car parking included in the room rate. An older style motel with no elevator to the second floor. Otherwise just perfect. Swinming pool was warm and large enough to exercise in. Good cleaning service and well supplied. We will definitely be back here next time we come to Ocean City NJ!

Harris house parking is a joke. If you like your vehicle don’t park at Harris house. Not much room for cars or trucks. Just the way it is.

The staff was very communicative prior to our stay and were friendly and accommodating during our stay there. Although there isn't an elevator, there are luggage carts provided at each level which are so helpful getting luggage to the steps and then from the steps to a second floor room. Rooms are very clean, and the housekeeping staff is very thorough. The beds are quite comfortable, and the curtains in the room successfully block out daylight. There were also plenty of outlets in the room. The outdoor pool (85 degrees) is open from dawn to dark, and there are umbrellas, tables, and loungers surrounding it. The free coffee and tea every morning was a thoughtful amenity. Thank you, Harris House, for a delightful stay!
Walkability: Located within 1/2 block of boardwalk and only two blocks from Asbury Avenue and the downtown area

Convenient location for beach and boardwalk access. The woman who checked us in was friendly. However this hotel is old, noisy, and damp. We came here for a quick 1 night trip and got absolutely no sleep because our room faced the street and this hotel has never bothered to invest in any soundproof or noise-reducing windows and doors. My family was woken up 4 times throughout the night due to the noise from the street.
The rooms are also very damp - the carpet literally feels wet. Being close to the ocean isn’t an excuse for that.
I would never recommend this hotel.
Rooms: Old and damp
Noteworthy details: Very loud, street-facing rooms. Not a restful stay.

Can't beat this place for accessibility to the beach and boardwalk. Rooms are spacious and well kept and the service is impeccable. Highly recommend especially if you have kids. The pool is always clean and beautiful.

Clean room, friendly staff. Stayed away from pool because it was crowded with rowdy kids. Only complaint was the disrespect of other guests early in the morning, balcony seemed to be the place to dress and do hair of their extremely loud little ones.

We found our new shore spot! We like to do half days at the beach then finish up the day at the pool. We lost our old spot and tried Harris House for the first time. It was perfect! Location is literally next to the boardwalk, there is parking, a pool and the rooms were very clean. The staff is wonderful and helpful. I accidentally cancelled my reservation through Expedia and the deposit wasn’t refundable. I called Harris House and they were just going to call me to see if I meant to cancel. They were able to get my reservation back and saved my deposit. I love that they will give beach tags the day of arrival prior to check in and after check out. All around great stay! We’ll be back next year!

PROS: location, by the beach, just behind the boardwalk, very convenient and surprisingly quiet;
well kept and clean; very friendly staff; somewhat comfy beds; parking included.
CONS: small rooms, tiny bathrooms, dated, old TV with regular channels only, inconsistent internet.
