I hate to give a mediocre review because I generally like Hand and Stone but yesterday was like a different experience. I was so looking forward to relaxing with a massage and facial but left feeling disappointed. I won’t leave the names here in case it was just a bad day. Let’s start with the massage. I haven’t had one in almost 2 years so I know my muscles were tight. I asked for medium pressure. But when that felt like too much (very close to the beginning of the service) I asked the therapist to go lighter but it really didn’t feel like she lightened up at all, making the massage more painful than relaxing. I’ve also never had a massage where the therapist just pulled the sheet off of where they were about to massage. They’ve always kind of rubbed the area to “ warm” it up first. But maybe everyone’s technique is different. I also felt there was very little to no massage to the back of my neck which was disappointing as well. When the massage was over it just felt like it abruptly stopped. Not sure I can articulate that well but I’ve always gotten “ Ok you’re all finished” with their hands just gliding off of me. This was more matter of fact; “ ok you can get dressed now. There’s a hot towel if you need it and I’ll meet you outside.” I just didn’t feel that pampered feeling. On to the facial. I will say it was very relaxing. The face massage was fantastic and the massage while the mask was setting was great. However, at no point was I told what was being put on my face and for what reason. And I don’t know if it’s because of inflation or it’s just not done anymore but after the mask there was no toner or serum or lip moisturizer. Just the face moisturizer. But again the facial wasn’t bad, I just was a little underwhelmed by the whole experience. Perhaps I’m being too picky, maybe it was just a bad day. Who knows I’ve been to this Hand and Stone many times and this is the first time I’ve felt this way. Again I was just really looking forward to relaxing and this just didn’t live up to expectation unfortunately.
