Honest, Skilled, and Trustworthy Mechanic
I can’t say enough good things about Elias and the team at Oradell Auto Repair. He’s one of the few mechanics left who truly takes pride in diagnosing a problem instead of just swapping parts. He cares & keeps the customer at heart, which is truly special.
I brought in my modified Subaru WRX after a difficult-to-trace coolant leak that showed up only under extreme heat and boost. Elias spent over two hours running pressure tests, heat cycling, and methodically inspecting the system until he found the issue — a small tolerance mismatch between my aftermarket hoses and the stock radiator inlets, leading to the clamps not holding only under extreme conditions. Most shops would’ve missed that or charged me hundreds in unnecessary parts & labor.
He explained everything clearly, replaced the clamps with the proper style, flushed and refilled the coolant, and didn’t overcharge me for the time he invested. He even helped me spot a cracked power steering reservoir and showed me how to replace it myself — that kind of honesty and teaching is rare.
I’ve trusted Elias with everything from my heavily modified WRX to my 23-year-old GMC Denali, & our family vehicle, a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid. He’s consistently proven to be skilled, fair, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He also stood behind his work when a defective steering rack had to be redone, covering all the labor, fluids, and alignment at his own cost. I've sent both my brother and my mother to him for work without hesitation, and they had positive experiences also.
Oradell Auto Repair is the kind of shop you hope to find, but almost never do — honest, mechanically sharp, and committed to doing the job right the first time.

The whole shop there took care of me and my car and I couldn't be happier. This old forgotten Peugeot 505 drives true dead straight after an alignment from them. The owner is awesome and getting a true old school alignment on an old car really made this thing drive like it was made to drive.
The whole team there are a bunch of true car guys and know how to take care of a car that most people have forgotten about

Came in the morning, seemed busy but Owner/Manager was very friendly and help me diagnose the problem which was the Battery and he had me out of in less than 1 hour, very quick, fair price and I will be returning for my car needs/maintenance.

Hidden gem – Elias is the mechanic you are looking for.
I’m an engineer, and I have personally been wrenching on my BMWs and other European vehicles since I was 18 years old, I’m now in my 40s and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t have the time to work on my cars like I used to, however, I do make it my job to know each and every one of my engines inside out.
It’s extremely difficult to find this level of trust, knowledge, competence, and personality in a mechanic. Over the last few days, my wife’s BMW rapidly developed a rough idle/acceleration and eventually died a few blocks away from her corporate office. My European car specialists are a considerable drive away from where I live in River Edge, so based on the reviews I decided to take a shot with Oradell auto repair and had her tow the vehicle there for diagnosis.
The car was due for ignition coils and plugs and I initially suspected the ignition system or vacuum leak, however, after a quick diagnosis Elias found it to be a stuck fuel injector. He replaced the injector, plugs, coils, and did an oil change in short order and the vehicle is back up and running 100%.
Extremely fair labor rates, and Elias took the time to communicate with me at a professional level from mechanic to mechanic. He has a very positive energy about him, not your typical, sleazy mechanic looking to nickel and dime you for stuff you don’t need, straight to exactly what was needed, with recommendations on other proactive items for consideration. He has a perceptible passion for his trade and his business as a whole.
In addition, he has deep dive knowledge on extremely complicated European engine jobs down to engine tear down jobs, valve stem seal replacement, complex timing issues etc.
Honestly, I told my wife her entire ordeal with her car breaking down and being towed was all worth it just to find this mechanic.
TLDNR: Stop browsing for a mechanic, you found the right one.

Never crossed my mind to leave a review for a mechanic shop that I have been going for over 15 years.
The reason why today I felt like I should leave a review is because this time guys at the shop including the owner Elias. Went above and beyond on usually what they would do.
I had not one not two but 3 nails in all different tires. I guess a bad roofer in the neighborhood.
Anyhow guys were super quick on patching one but the other two were beyond saving so we got 2 new tires. And oil change all under an hour. And I still made it to work on time.

Elias is not only great mechanic, but he is amazing person as well.
He has practically re-built my car with the professionalism, which very few places could offer these days.
Add honesty and integrity of this team and you have very easy choice where to take your car for repairs.
