So happily shocked to find a mid-size SUV for same-day rental til next morning, for under $57 -total-, unlimited mileage! For me, this quickly & easily solved an unexpected problem. No surprise fees, nothing added on at the end, and great service. I will be back. Thank you!!One star deducted only for:- *Be aware (I don't think online reservation stated) you can't leave your own car there* while you're using the rental; so you'll need to get a ride there. Overnight parking is the only further amenity I could wish for.§ (I wonder - could they not rent or purchase, & pave to connect, the small parking lot section directly behind the Avis - part of, but farthest from, the very vacant former-Kmart, next door at 857 17-South - & as an amenity, would that generate enough in overnight or weekly parking fees to cover the cost? My 2¢.)- Also, vehicle indicated needing oil change at pickup; but no issues.

The staff was very nice.-- but I don't understand why I was given a receipt showing I paid 90.25 and then got an email saying I paid 120!!!%*@Also I would prefer being given car with full tank so there's no guess work as to how much refill I need to do.Also a cheat sheet for how to operate the various features would be helpful as the 'owner's manual' was disabled.

Overall customer experience could have been much better. This was my first time renting from Avis at the Paramus location. I went to pick up the car. There was a customer in front of me. That person left and the man behind the counter was still typing away on the computer. After waiting for about 30-40 seconds as he was still typing away, I started looking at my phone. I was on my phone about 1-2 minutes. Then I looked up to see if he was done typing, but he was already looking at me at that point. I was expecting, “Hi, how can I help you”? I didn’t get that. Instead I had to initiate the interaction by saying to him, I have a reservation. There was no greetings from this man. I’m there to do business with Avis, but he made me feel like I was a burden. I expected better customer service. I get treated better from a stranger on the street.

The owner refused to give us a car because the name wasn’t displayed on the credit card even though the manager on the phone told me that was alright. When asked him to speak to the manager he simply said “I don’t care” and walked away. My friend tried to pay for me with his credit card and display me as “additional driver” which is acceptable with Avis, once again owner refused to do it because “it’s his place and he doesn’t care what corporate says”. Rented a car in Newark airport, no questions asked, easy process.

Avis on route 17S in Paramus is the best location to rent a vehicle. Customer service is outstanding and vehicles are always spotless! A note to a fellow costumer…when you call the 1-800 number you are not speaking to the location directly, the information your are receiving about inventory that can not possibly be 100% accurate. Call the location directly! I always experience the best customer service!! Thank you Avis Route 17S ?

This place is terrible. I was told one thing by avis over the phone and when i got there i was told another. I was left stuck without a rental all because they lied to me about being able to use a debit card for the vehicle. Staff did nothing to help solve the situation. Terrible customer service.

Last June 10, I was supposed to drive out with a Ford Escape from Avis Paramus but drove off with a Mazda vehicle. After reaching my first stop, I could not lock the car doors since the car key was not working. Also the car didn't start anymore.I called Avis Paramus and told the guy our problem. He insisted that the car works and that we just probably didn’t know how to toggle the car keys. I reiterated that I knew well enough that the car key was broken. He said that we could very well continue on traveling without need to lock the doors. Who actually does that? That is definitely very irresponsible response from an Avis personnel. How does one leave a car full of personal belongings without locking the car? Is this a common advice from Avis? Avis Paramus, do you even bother checking the condition of your cars before having it rented out? The car didn't start either so I couldn't even continue my trip.After having come to their senses, they ask for my location and have someone assist me. I end up having to wait patiently before the supposed manager comes to assist as they insisted that the car works. He finally arrives and REALIZES that the car key does not work and asks me to go back to Avis Paramus to have the car changed. Avis Paramus, what kind of customer service is this? You should compensate me for the gasoline spent in having to bring back the car for your incompetence! You should compensate me for my TIME (waisted at least 2 hours or more) and the inconvenience and the stress that you have caused me and the appointment that I have missed.After having gone back to Avis Paramus, I get greeted by the woman handling the counter who has no sympathy nor empathy and merely said go pick up this other car right at the back. NO APOLOGY for the kind of service and stress they have caused."Avis takes great pride in their fleet of mechanically sound, well-maintained vehicles". Well this was definitely not my experience and after contacting their customer service I keep getting the same sentence: "Avis takes great pride in their fleet of mechanically sound, well-maintained vehicles". I guess NOT. Truly dissapointed.

It’s a great car rental place. Be careful even if you get your car 3/4 of a tank you still need to give it back at full.

Paramus Avis gave us a Ford Explorer that had smelled of cigarette smoke. They then told us we were mistaken of the smell but later we found disgusting food, sticky messes, and cigarette ashes in the 3rd row seating. We had actually reserved a Mini Van, they confirmed the Mini Van rental 48 hrs prior, and then the day before called to say they did not have a Mini Van for us. You’d think they would try to accommodate by either finding us a Mini Van or at least cleaning out the 3rd row of the Ford Explorer that they could have assumed we needed since we originally reserved a Mini Van!They were pushy in communication and it was uncomfortable interacting with the manager. I called again 3 days into my rental to request a new vehicle, a discounted rate, and a corrected receipt. The original receipt they gave me had a different vehicle listed on it. This was never sent. I dropped the vehicle off at the DCA and they were wonderful.

I rent cars frequently when I travel out of the country and need to drive out of state. I have never encountered an issue using my business credit card in order to rent a vehicle. This is the first location I've heard of not allowing this. Let's not leave out the fact that I am the owner of the business and MY name is on the card as well.
