On 8/16/25 I brought my dog in for a scheduled appointment because she wasn’t eating and had vaginal discharge, which I feared could be a serious, life-threatening infection. I was already under a lot of emotional stress, but instead of compassion, I was met with rudeness and unprofessional behavior. A vet tech came out abruptly from the back, asked if I was the owner of my dog and when I said yes, her only comment was, “ Your dog has fleas.” in a rude unprofessional manner. She then walked away, spoke briefly to receptionist , and left without offering any explanation, education, or next steps. We were placed in a room because of the fleas — which I understand may be policy — but the way it was handled was extremely inconsiderate. On top of that, I just paid $1,200 for diagnostic tests, yet received no clear communication, compassion, or support during the visit. For that cost, I expected thorough care and professional service — instead, I left feeling dismissed, stressed, and deeply disappointed.
They called me today to cancel my cat’s scheduled surgery — even though I told them I already gave her a flea treatment and an oral Capstar pill. I had to reschedule it for October 21. My cat is on a monthly wellness plan I’m paying for, yet Banfield refused to provide the services I expected. Their only “solution” was to tell me to hire an exterminator for my home. Unprofessional, dismissive, and a complete waste of money. I will never return. I pay for a wellness plan expecting consistent, quality care, but instead I got unprofessional service, no compassion, and a refusal to provide the care I’m paying for. Completely unacceptable.
If you are considering Banfield in Paramus, please think twice. Your pet deserves medical care delivered with compassion and respect, and sadly that was not my experience here.

We sadly had to put our Girl Rosetta down today, this place has been through it with us through thick and thin and always treating our pitty with such respect. Ever since our girl was diagnosed with cancer they did everything possible to make her comfortable till her last minute. The compassion they showed us was unbelievable. The staff is just amazing and compassionate. I know the wait on hold is annoying and sometimes they over book but they are worth the wait. Thank you, The Massey Family

I called x make appoinments 2 times the fist time i wait almost 7 minutes and the second one 3 minutes,never them get the phone for talk to me.bad service phone for Customer sevices to make appoinments.i gave 2 star.

I took a day off from work to bring my dog for an 8:00am Dental cleaning appointment and was told she would be ready for pick by 1:00 or 2:00pm the latest…… I did not hear anything from them all day and decided to swing by after the gym at 2:00pm which was near by, to check the status of my dog…. I was told that since I dropped off my dog at 8:00am that nothing was done because the Dr. was running behind/late …… I was supper upset because my dog who is never caged had to endure 6 long hours of being caged without food, snack or water and did not recieve any communication from their office to let us what was going on. It took them an additional 25 mins to bring my dog out after I told them I want leave, which made supper suspicious of why it was taking so long to bring my dog from the back….. I normally have decent service from them but this was a waste of day for me and they need to be more considerate of peoples time because people have to work to be able to afford all those extra add ons they try to make you pay for which are sometimes unnecessary.

I GIVE MY FIVE STARS ONLY FOR DR. SEO AND HIS ASSISTANT HEATHER!!!! I'm taking the time to write this review to highlight two amazing people I encountered today, 4/5/2025, at Banfield Pet Hospital in Paramus. DR. SEO and his assistant HEATHER were SIMPLY WONDERFUL! I've been bringing my Labrador, Bruno to Banfield for many years, and never have my pet and I had such a wonderful experience. Dr. Seo was incredibly thorough and genuine, and he had so much patience answering all my concerns. My pet was so much happier than any other time I've brought him to Banfield for regular visits. I encourage you to keep such stellar staff. Banfield needs more people like Dr. Seo and Heather. Heather was so friendly and warm, and you can tell from her personality that she truly cares. We, the parents of our Labrador Bruno, are so happy today with the service provided by these amazing individuals like Dr. Seo and Heather. Dr. Seo and Heather, if you are reading this, please know that we hope to see you again

This staff is very unorganized and incompetent. The veterinarian is very rude and inconsiderate. I made an appointment a month ago and drove 25 minutes to drop my kitten off and they told me I had to wait an hour and didn’t give an explanation. If you needed me to wait an hour why didn’t you call to reschedule? This is a HUGE waste of time and if I could give zero stars I would. I do not recommend this garbage.

Dr.O and the staff that assists her are wonderful. They took amazing care of my pup during his surgery and throughout his recovery. Very thankful!!

There was traffic and heavy rain and i was 15 minutes late, they made me reschedule my w appointment which i left work early for. I am very disappointed.

Run away. Absolute worst service imaginable. Imagine being called 3 DAYS after you call and leave a vm about your dog in an emergency situation during open hours (yes, we obviously took her somewhere else).

Stay away from this place! Everyone there is extremely incompetent and unprofessional. First, we took our dog there to get an annual checkup. They found a broken tooth and said it needed to be extracted. We told them that our dog has severe anxiety and can't stay there all day long. They told us to bring him in first thing in the morning and they would get him in and out. We did that. They kept him in a cage crying for hours while calling my phone repeatedly leaving voicemails to sell me extra dental insurance while my dog whimpered in the background. You can audibly hear this on the voicemail which I saved. All of this should have been addressed beforehand. He was there over 4 hours most of which was spent in a cage.
We recently learned that during his exam they forgot to give him his heart worm vaccination. He was 6 months past due. The Nanuet location gave us a heart worm test free of charge. Thank God it was negative. I tried reaching out to corporate, but they don't respond. The receptionist tells you to go online and fill out a form or email and someone will get back to you. Nobody got back to me. I emailed the practice manger, Caity Martin, who did not get back to me and is conveniently busy when you call.
This place is cruel to animals and could have killed my dog. The office staff are so incompetent it takes 3 people to check you out at the end of your visit. The whole place should be shut down. I've heard from other Banfield locations that the Paramus location has been "problematic for some time now." Go somewhere else if you care about your pet and you don't want to lose your mind dealing with stupid and careless people.
