STAY AWAY. Yes, it's an ER hospital and yes, you WILL be overcharged. I expected that.
The surprise is the total INCOMPETENCE of the Veterinarians. Is this a Vet-in-training operation? Or are these full fledged Vets that never learned any critical thinking?? What kind of mill did they get educated in??
You know what? If your pet is sick or injured, just go to Starbucks, instead. Order a coffee and ask the barista what she thinks is wrong with your furbaby. Or use google. You'll get a much more accurate answer and save yourself tons of money!!
But really-- find an all service family vet practice who will methodically think through what you say happened and what they are seeing with their own eyes, and steer clear of these big money grabbing corporations. Someone else mentioned nearby Oradell Hospital. Also, overly expensive but at least they have training and won't pad the bill like this horrible place.
My story, if you're inclined-
I brought in my furbaby who could not keep their balance (read: leg injury) and $600 in charges later, the Vet tells me I need a urine culture because she thinks they have a bladder infection. NOPE, lady, it's a leg injury. I left with some bullshit bladder meds and pain meds. Waaaay overpriced, of course, that did nothing!
I went back a few days later (I know, ITAH) because my furbaby had gotten worse (they could barely walk now) because, I thought- at least they did a sonogram I won't have to pay for again if I go elsewhere- and my pet was mis-diagnosed AGAIN. This time the Vet tried to tell me he has a spinal injury, or tumor, or crushed spine, or herniated disc. Wtf? These types of injuries happen when there's a huge impact, like the animal was hit by a car. I told them he'd gotten injured just doing regular playing.
Girl- this is a leg injury! I need you to tell me what's wrong with his LEG and treat it! If she'd simply suggested an Xray (their rate $375), I would have paid for that- but instead she packaged it into a $1800 bundle with loads of bullshit my furbaby did not need. I left, but they still overcharged me for another $600 of services my baby DID NOT need.
Oh- and they take your baby away from you to 'examine' in private. So how do I know if either one of these so-called Vets even examined him, or found the things I SAW in my home, when I'm not there to say- yes they're limping and doing this weird walk, lifting their leg this way.
I left there wondering if they just sat around a table and made shit up with my poor baby curled up in the corner. They definitely did not prioritize my furbaby!
Next day, I found a very good family practice (Red Roof in Ft Lee) and finally my baby is on the road to recovery. I will never forgive these other Vets- Carney men!- for misleading, and prioritizing money grabbing over good care!

This should be your first stop for emergencies. I had been to Blue Pearl before and had a good experience. This time was no exception-we were taken almost immediately, kept updated on what was happening and left with a better outcome than we had had at our own vet.

If I could give a zero star I would. We have been to Blue Pearl when we had an emergency previously and that visit was fine from diagnosis to the bill which was reasonable. This visit on 10/21/24 was beyond terrible. Our Golden Retriever had an infection on his paw, nothing life threatening we just knew we wanted to have him looked at. We were unable to to Get an appointment at our wonderful Midland Park Vet . Based on our schedules and that once we had a good experience at Blue Pearl we went. Well that prior experience was an entirely different experience. This visit was a rude staff, and a 20 minute appointment for a nothing but a sore on our dogs paw and that turned into $581.00. One of the meds was $184.00, a pill. Never once talked to us about that and there were two other meds prescribed. And a cone which he doesn’t need at all. Then my husband was so taken back by the $581.00 bill that he left the meds on the counter at Blue Pearl. They never even called us to tell us we left the meds on their counter. When my husband went back, realizing he must have left them there, and it’s not an easy commute back to Blue Pearl, they lied and said they called me… which never happened, I have no missed calls from Blue Pearl. Stay away from Pearl Blue, they used to be great and now they all corporate. They don’t care about your pet, just $$. Try to get an appointment with your own vet, if it’s an emergency go to Oradell Animal Hospital.

This place has a very aloof atmosphere, and it feels very corporate. While this may work for some businesses, when you go to an emergency room with your pet you don't want see that atmosphere. We also found that they're extremely overpriced. We had a test done where they were not able to get a result and they still charged $1,000 with the exam We went to Oradell Animal Hospital down the road and because they were not able to get a result they did not charge us anything.
So, I would say save your money and go to Oradell Animal Hospital instead. They're much nicer there, friendlier, and they will work with you.

We ran there Wednesday night after our 5 year old pit/lab mix was yelping and trembling with terrible pain. The nurse Sarah was so caring, Dr. Munoz was thorough and amazing. They truly cared about our boy and he is now on the mend. Extremely grateful for their care in a scary moment.

My dog I was pretty sure was having anxiety colitis as we were going on vacation - we were bringing her with us but she developed pretty severe diarrhea and i noticed a few drops of blood -everyone from Heidi the receptionist to Dr Annunziata was professional, caring and compassionate towards both my dog Anna and my husband and I - could not thank them enough - called all of my friends to tell them as well. BTW bill was very reasonable unlike another animal hospital in the vacinity.

My hubby and I were on our honeymoon and unfortunately, we had to have friends drop our dog Onyx off for some issues he was having while we were away. BluePearl kept us in the loop and followed up less than 24 hours later to check in on him. They made our boy happy and feel safe while we couldn’t be there. He is recovering very well and we couldn’t be more thankful for the support from BluePearl

I highly recommend Blue Pearl for any pet emergency. They were quick to treat Princess and very professional, caring, and dedicated. They showed the compassion we needed at that time. Unfortunately after many efforts to treat and get our dog Princess to a full recovery, her age (just turning 15) worked against her. We together made the difficult decision to euthanize her to release her from her pain. My family and I are grateful for all their efforts. She is sorely missed as she was with our family for 15 years.

This hospital was fantastic, they were able to see my kitten right away and did a thorough exam and tests on him. My kitten was unable to tolerate any food , he was vomiting every time he ate and was losing weight and was very weak and tired. They did every necessary test and put him on several medications and now he can tolerate food without any issues. It was expensive but totally worth it! Dr.DeWitte was wonderful and now my kitten is doing so much better! He has gained weight and is acting like a normal kitten!! I needed refills on medications they responded right away and had medication ready for me when I arrived . Thank you so much!! Would definitely recommend this place!!

Disappointed after I arrived there
there is no longer an internist dr and mo ultra sounds done here. So basically paid 248 to walk in plus $$$ For blood work n hydration all they did was hydrate my sick dog and said he needed an ultra sound. I had to go elsewhere for treatment

The staff at Blue Pearl was phenomenal! We are very picky when it comes to who cares for our dogs and needed a vet in an emergency, on a Sunday after 5pm… we were not disappointed. They were friendly on the phone and in person, addressed all of our concerns and crazy questions and opinions lol. We were in and out quickly. The facility was clean, modern and smelled good. Most importantly they made our dog, Baby, comfortable and diagnosed her issue quickly and helped us get her out of pain. I will certainly use them again in an emergency and have already told other ppl, including my own vet, how great our experience was.
