Excellent Stay at Sonesta Morris Plains
My stay at Sonesta Simply Suites was fantastic! Christopher C. at the front desk was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and professional—truly a standout in customer service. The room was spotless, well-organized, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax. Great location, great staff—I’ll definitely be back!

From the moment I walked into the hotel lobby, I was greeted with the warmest smile by the receptionist, whose kindness truly set the tone for my entire stay.
His name was Christopher, and he is an absolute gem — friendly, patient, and incredibly attentive.
He took the time to explain everything I needed to know about the hotel, gave excellent local recommendations, and even followed up with me to see how the recommendations panned out. It wasn’t just professionalism — it was genuine care and warmth, which made me feel right at home.
In a world where hospitality can sometimes feel rushed or routine, it was so refreshing to be welcomed by someone who clearly loves what he does. I must say that every encounter I have had with staff at this hotel has been exceptional. I appreciate all that Donna has done to take care of me as a medical traveler, she has also been wonderful! I am currently here on a work contract and will continue to stay here until my contract comes to an end. If I return to this city, I’ll definitely stay here again — not just for the comfort of the hotel, but because of the exceptional service I received at the front desk..everytime!

My husband and I had an unfortunate situation and had to be out of our home for an extended period of time. I found this hotel and picked it mainly because they allowed dogs and had kitchen areas in the rooms. From the moment we checked in, we were met with the most friendly and helpful staff - the front desk staff, breakfast attendant, house keepers, maintenance staff were all lovely. Any question I had they were always there to help and any maintenance requests for our room were handled promptly.
One front desk employee, Christopher C, was especially wonderful. We were going through an incredibly difficult time being displaced from our home and he made sure to always check on me when walking into the lobby and really made me feel like a friend/family.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and provided a safe place for me, my husband and my dog when we needed it most. I will forever be grateful for this property and their staff for helping us through a difficult time - for the 72 nights we were there they provided more than just a place to stay but also went out of their way with kindness and compassion. I will recommend to any friends and family in the area.

There was a nasty smell in our room of humidity and we had to ask to be moved. Even the front desk person said the smell was horrible. The new room wasnt any better, toilet was rusted , towels werent great at all.

Christopher C was an absolute sweetheart. He helped me with anything I needed my entire stay and I stayed for 27 nights as I was working a rotation up there for my medical career. He made going down the the lobby such an enjoyable experience and he was so helpful to everyone else as well.

Quite honestly this location is nothing more than a rebranded Residence Inn by Marriott and if the property manager is names or has any last name to a specific ethnicity you're a free breakfast what can prize of packaged muffins stale cereal overcooked hot sausage that they don't warn you of slimy sloppy eggs bruised an old fruit basically bottom of the barrel relative to the price you pay for your room per night I would not say good nor bad it is preference however considering the extent of travel that I have been through over the last 4 years it is a clear understanding who owns what property if you took a moment to just realize that you're not where you think you are you'll understand

I had to cancel my reservation and Sonesta refused to give me back my $ even after reaching out to the 3rd party. Horrible customer service and they don't even need the $$. GREED!! I will NOT ever book with this company again.

The rooms are great and the staff are absolutely amazing especially Bee and Chris. Any situation i had during my long stay was quickly solved by them. To me this place truly does feel like a home away from home.

My wife and I were here last weekend for my birthday and as soon as we entered we were greeted with a negative attitude. As soon as I tried to see if we can get an early check in, the Hispanic woman in the front was combative. I didn’t even get a hello or good morning, just negativity. Aside from a bad start they had a loud party on the floor above us that kept us awake. To top it all off when I tried to wash clothes they didn’t have any quarters for the laundry machines, instead the person at the front desk told me to go elsewhere to get quarters. All in all my experience here was bad and from the looks of the reviews, I’m far from the only one that feels this way.

Room was really cute! Breakfast was good. My only complaint is the hot tub is down and we weren't told ahead of time and I was so looking forward to getting in

The experience here wasn’t anything as expected. We arrived early asking if it was okay to check in early, we weren’t greeted but given an attitude by the receptionist, saying there were no room available for early check in. This was Friday morning (May 17th). My husband sensed the attitude and got into a back and forth with the lady. Then, when we came back to check in, the room wasn’t available so we were changed to a different room where the bed was full size for both my husband and I to sleep in. We are used to king size beds but were at least expecting the queen which we booked for. Being that we were on the second floor, the 3rd floor had a party and as a result everything was trembling at 10pm Sunday night. They have a 2 slot electric stove for the room we didn’t book ever worse that the pots and pans are for gas stoves because they weren’t flat on the bottom for the electric stove to heat it up evenly. Went to sleep late cooking 5 days worth of food in a smaller stove than expected. I called the front desk and spoke to a gentleman Sunday night and no one brought other options for me to cook with. I had to shift the pans around the edges to make sure our food was cooked thoroughly which we needed to take on the road for us since my husband is a truck driver.
