Sold my loan to another company and didn’t let me know. No goodbye letter or notice. Found out by having to call due to no payment access on website.

This is the worst mortgage company I've ever encountered. My mortgage broker said it was the first, and LAST time she'd use them. I took so much time off work to run around and get the documents they were requesting, it was unreal. They then wanted to know why my paychecks were short hours. I got the majority of the docs the same day they asked (had to wait for 2 to come in the mail). Then they LOST THE PAPERWORK. I can't even tell you how many times I had to send in the same documents over and over again because they couldn't find them.\\nIt took them over 7 months to close. We will be refinancing with a new company ASAP.

Most of AFR's business is with mortgage brokers like myself. They have a lot of specialized mortgage products that only a handful of lenders offer due to their complexity. Much of the negative experiance that I'm reading in these reviews has to do with mortgage brokers being educated/experienced in these programs. This results in the broker being reactive instead of proactive. I work with the FHA and VA Construction to Perm programs. It takes a lot of research and experience to set the right expectations and close timely on these loans.Having said that, yes AFR needs to work on communication internally and with it's brokers.

As I read through these negative reviews I would like to clarify some issues. I’m an AFR approved mortgage broker. The majority of my business is construction lending. I did my first VA Construction Loan with AFR over 7 years ago. AFR is one of very few mortgage lenders that offers this program, and they are an industry leader in construction lending. They also offer Conventional and FHA Construction Loans. These are complex loans and take longer to process than a purchase loan or a simple refinance. Most of your experience as a borrower will be shaped by the individual that is taking your application and their knowledge of the process, not AFR. An experienced construction loan officer will take about 60 days to process your construction loan. That assumes you and your builder are submitting documents as they are requested. If you are working with an inexperienced loan officer, or do not respond in a timely manner to document requests, your application will take much longer to process, or never close. Choose wisely who you work with and respond promptly to document requests. AFR is not a perfect company. I agree that they need to work on their communication with clients and brokers. Sometimes, during volatile interest rate markets, many construction loans will not be available. This is more of an issue with the market than AFR. AFR has recently made some changes to their program that should make it more unlikely that this will happen in the future.

This is a horrible company to work with. Chris from investors mortgage LLC, which I assume is under this company lies to your clients. He does not communicate. This has been the most frustrating experience ever!!! My team lead said she’s never experienced this in the 20 years that she’s been selling real estate. Please try your best to avoid using them. If you can’t prepare your client for a 60 day closing. Hopefully….. ??

I wish there is something less than a one star. AFR had my loan in their pipeline for 3 full months only for them to tell the broker that the product was dicontinued when it was time to close without reason. This company (AFR) DOES NOT have the funds to do business, please RUN! they will frustrate you from the minute you start working with them. Oh did i mention the lack of communication? Terrible! Just Terrible!! Please save yourself the headache and disappointment.

Hot garbage pile of stupid and horrible experience for both loan officers and clients. Never seen more incompetence or pure stupidity from a lender. The lack of communication, going completely outside of normal guidelines without explanation, and the lack of any care about whether a loan gets done or not ..... Appalling. You are better going anywhere else. Literally anywhere.

This company is an absolute joke. They couldn't care less about their clients. I was considered a very low risk borrower. They wanted the same documents over and over, kicked back documents for not being in the correct format, took 3 months to close and worst of all, we've finally closed and they still haven't payed the seller after three days. They have ZERO sense of urgency. Avoid this company at all costs.

This company is the worst, most unprofessional people I've ever dealt with. I closed on March 11th made my first payment May 1st. Then they sold my mortgage after 1st payment. Know there sending me letters saying I don't have insurance. How could I get a mortgage with out insurance. Dum azzs. Then today July 14th I get a voucher for 199 dollar's for insurance. Beware of the company. I all ways read reviews on business before I decide which one to use. I went through my bank not knowing that they use other companies. DONT USE AMERICAN FINANCIAL RESOURCES.

Having someone call me and ask me multiple questions about my home and then just hang up abruptly has got to be the rudest thing I've ever experienced from someone. If your paying people to interrupt me during the day to try and refi my home over the phone you need to restructure your training/hiring process.

Never done business with American Financial Resources ("AFR"). Got a letter that someone accessed our personal sensitive data file from their computer systems. First Where and How did they get our personal data and why didn't they protect it. Letter says their data breach happened back in December and they sent the letter about the breach in March. They took this long to notify?
