GAF failed to respond TO THE MANY PROBLEMS caused by a roofing company fraudulently using certification by GAF to sell me a blow and go roof..... Because of your horrible customer service I discovered better shingles by Malarkey along with Grace brand "ice and water protection" under the shingles elevates any tar shingle roof from 30 years to above 50+ years for less than an additional $3,000 for most roofs. ...GAF.... I hope millions of people check these facts out. If they do it will cost you hundreds of millions if not billions of $$$$. I hope people see this complaint and use it wisely.

It is the worst company you can choose. A year and a half ago I had a new roof done on my house in Hoboken with ARCO, it was the worst choice because from that day on we constantly had a leak. An inspector from GAF came, but they are so incompetent that they did absolutely nothing, they don't care the people who trust them and make an effort to pay the roof. Neither ARCO nor GAF, which is the "insurance" company, did anything more than make excuses on their clients.

We noted significant color variation, submitted a warranty claim in late March and received a denial in early June, stating "Based on our laboratory technician’s analysis of the samples submitted, the product meets our manufacturing specifications. The color variation that you are experiencing is a result of mixing product from two different manufacturing plants (Baltimore and Ennis). The products are not compatible and should not be used on the same roof." Duh... So who was at fault? We were. The roofer was. The distributor was. GAF, no. We homeowners were elated to know that GAF (Texas) Charcoal is very different from (Maryland) Charcoal and Charcoal is incompatible with Charcoal. GAF's advice? Talk to your roofer. Owens-Corning doesn't warranty against color variations either. Still, that product will be our choice in the future.

If you're considering a GAF roof because of the warranty, think twice. We made the mistake of choosing GAF for a roof and discovered too late that their warranty support is a joke. When our GAF roof failed, and water started leaking into our bedroom we called GAF... and called and called and called. Weeks passed with no action. The damage to our home increased with each passing week. We were given one excuse after another for the delays. First they said it was because a person left the company, then they told us the new person went on vacation, and so on and so on. Even the local roofing contractor assigned to us by GAF said they couldn't reach GAF to even discuss the claim. Now, finally the roof has been repaired, but we have thousands of dollars worth of damage that could have been avoided if GAF took their warranty seriously. We hoped they would recognize their failure and help us repair the damage caused by their endless delays, but instead they just read us the text of their warranty (which omits any promise to act in a timely manner), and told us to file a claim with our homeowners insurance for the repairs. So know this, if you buy a GAF roof and it fails, they won't act until it's too late. They're a shamefully unethical company.

Believe the reviews about the warranty. I opened a claim due to improper installation by one of their “President’s Club” contractor. The supervisor came out, acknowledged my concerns and the technical errors of the installation but then went ahead and deactivated the warranty because my semi-attached house is considered a “partial roof installation” and is not eligible for warranty. The roofer didn’t take responsibility for falsely selling me the warranty and GAF didn’t take any action against the roofer (still listed as their top tier President’s Club roofer). It seems like GAF is beholden to the roofers instead of the other way around.

Two pieces of GAF of my roof that was done by home depot were not good product , so they detached . GAF garanties new ones. But you must pay for a pro to take them off the roof with a specialist and pay to send them to GAF , they need to check them and give you back the pieces that you pay a specialist to install on your roof . What sort of garanty is it ? It's way less cheaper to repair yourself. Don't buy GAF. Very bad experience.

Installed new roof recently with ridge roof vents which later I found out it made ny house accessible to animals critters wasps..etc it is poorly designed and I consider it defective since it allow access to my house.I had to install vents guard to stop mice from entering the house and GAF denied the claim although their warranty doesn't mention anything about animal intrusions

Poor quality materials. Roof leaked into my baby’s play area after only a few years. Too bad the warranty didn’t transfer over because they require a certified letter within 60-days of change of ownership otherwise they’ll wash their hands of it. Sleazy.

I have put on many GAF roofs as a contractor and by far they look the best and out perform any other shingle I have seen. I just feel good companies need to be praised when they do the proper things for customers. Well done GAF!
