“Holsten’s, famous for its delicious homemade ice cream and being in The Sopranos, has been serving the community since 1939.My cheeseburger deluxe was perfectly cooked to order with a great flame broiled flavor. Equally as good were the slightly crunchy krinkle fries. A typical luncheonette style menu offering a nice variety of sandwiches and burgers. The homemade mint chip ice cream was creamy and minty. Homemade whipped cream topped it off.On this first time visit to this iconic luncheonette, I sat at the counter and had one of the best service experiences one can have. Julia was attentive, engaging, pleasant, sweet and polite. It was a true service with a smile type visit. She provided an outstanding service experience.When you cross the threshold of Holsten’s Ice Cream Parlor, you might feel as though you stumbled upon a time machine that whisked you back to the 1950s. Old wooden and Glass candy display cases, cozy red vinyl booths, and ice cream counter complete with old-fashioned barstools, Holsten’s magically transports you to the quaint and convivial atmosphere of an era long forgotten. “I am always skeptical of really beautiful desserts and just assume they will taste mediocre because so much thought is put into the way they look. As a pastry chef I’m super picky about the quality of chocolate and while I thought these trendy chocolates would make a great gift because the appearance and packaging is stunning, I did not have high hopes for flavor. Boy was I wrong!!! I was literally blown away by the explosion of flavor and texture you can only achieve when using super high quality ingredients. Little spheres of heaven!!!”

It was an email sent right before the Labor Day weekend. A lovely lady named Kim replied promptly and had my order ready within a few short hours. Couldn't have been more grateful! I am a big supporter of local small businesses and I always want to spend my hard earned dollars at places where my business is appreciated. Thanks so much to Kim for taking care of my order!! Even with a long line it didn’t take too long for it to get moving! The girls said it would be a wait for the berries and it take way less time than anticipated. “I have been to a few of these stores but this one is the best that I have been in. It's a kids paradise!!! But for us older guys it's fun as well. It takes you down memory lane. There are candies that I haven't seen or had in 40 but years or more. It's two floors of fun.Let's not forget the great staff here.
