Friendly, informative reps at the store i rented it from in Newport news VA. Also, reps on the phone calls I made responding to couple texts from uhaul office also great customer service. Great added offers. I felt much better talking to all I spoke to regarding the rental. I was nervous about truck breaking down or such on the one way from Newport News VA to Plainfield NJ, they all made me feel better and not worry. I was so relieved that the one way 10' rental was a newer model and low mileage. Truck was enough for what I needed to move. Thanks so much

Excellent place to get a moving truck outside the store you may find a few guys you can hire to help you move. To be clear the guys that are willing to help you move near the business it’s not affiliated with U-Haul . Thanks for the great employees at the Plainfield NJ made moving and getting a truck so easy..

We recently moved from Georgia to New Jersey and to say it was a rough trip is an understatement. This was NOT because of wrongdoing on U-hauls part. When we arrived in New Jersey (at the E. 2nd St., Plainfield U-Haul location) to return the truck and auto transport, Johanna, the manager, was quick to come up to us, greet us and offer assistance. Joanna could tell right from our initial meeting that we were stressed, anxious, and exhausted. She went above and beyond to help which told me she genuinely cares for people and their issues. From the time I spent there, she was nothing but helpful and kind and did anything she could to make things easier and was quick to offer solutions to problems we encountered. She listened and understood our problems and explained everything we needed to know. It was very refreshing to deal with a manager that actually manages and is a problem solver. These days, it is very rare to find outstanding customer service…it’s rare to even find good customer service. Joanna and her staff provided outstanding customer service, which made all the difference on this nightmare of a move. Everyone in the store was always up to assist and offer advice when needed. They were helpful, pleasant to deal with and were constantly there to answer a question or help out with whatever obstacles we had to figure out. My experience here was excellent and I will definitely recommend to anyone who needs to rent a truck or use their storage facility. I can’t thank them enough for providing compassion, understanding and advice at a time we needed it most. Joanna and her staff are the best example of customer service we have come across in a long time!

Too much business utilizing mobile phones to conduct business… we had to bring out our own rental truck just to drive off the lot…

Very easy to rent from here, but be careful!!!! Take photos of the vehicle! Where the gas needle is, and don’t include the “safe trip” which includes up to 3 gallons on gas because they are going to charge you anyway. Saying something to them doesn’t matter either. I had photos and proved they overcharged me, was told I would receive a refund and didn’t.

I rented a 15' on Sunday 4/23 and rushed to return it by 5pm. When I got to the office shortly before 5pm, the office was closed and door locked. I tried to download the app and online return. The cell signal in the office area was poor and multiple attempts failed. It was a frustrating experience.
Also, I accidentally removed the zip tie of the dolly but didn't use it. I was charged $7 for cutting the zip tie!
