Whether it is for our senior dogs, or our puppy, Pompton Lakes Animal Hospital is who we trust wholeheartedly. Their care and compassion is beyond what we assumed would be typical care. For instance, yesterday, the doctor left the exam room to retrieve a soft towel for our pup to sit on for comfort, a truly nice touch!

They were able to get me in quickly to help out my dog. Office staff is wonderful, and the vet and vet technician I saw were great as well-knowledgeable and very helpful.

I was treated with kindness and professionalism by everyone, and felt complete peace of mind that my Tigger received the best care. I am grateful for this practice and will definitely recommend it to others in the future.

Awful experience, there are too many great vets in the area to risk your pet's health by going here. In summary of my below story: awful customer service, long wait times, expensive prices, negligent care...please don't take your pet here and go elsewhere. My cat was not eating enough so we took her in to see if we could adjust meds for her underlying condition. From the very start, the experience was terrible...We waited at least 25 min to be checked in at the front desk as they were only focused on filling medications for customers in real time (which is a slow process) even though all exam rooms were empty and no other appts were checked in. The vet tech would not touch my cat so I had to take her out of the cage myself even though she is not aggressive. The vet seemed kind but then insisted on a lot of expensive diagnostics that we have done in the past already before they would actually treat her except to prescribe a new medication at what we later learned was an extremely high dose usually given to 65lb dogs instead of 5 lb cats. The medication was also very hard to dose and all other vets I spoke to said it should have been compounded, which was never discussed with us. (a couple days later, we ended up almost having to rush her to an emergency vet after she had a severe reaction to the medication and when we called Pompton Lakes, they just wanted us to bring her in and do even more diagnostics.)We then waited over 45 min while my cat was in the back until my husband finally asked where our cat was. Again, we were the only appt there besides one other person at that time that had come in and gone into an exam room. They realized they had left her in the back and just forgot her there. We then waited another 25 min to check out all while paying at least double for the care than we had paid at other vets before. Their prices were outrageous. We went home without anything done to actually help our cat in the meantime.I waited a few days for bloodwork and called to check on them until they were finally back 5 days later, way longer than it should have been. But, they wouldn't review them with me because the vet was out. Same story the next day. I finally asked if another vet could review the results and they had someone else in the office review only to say my cat had an infection and needed antibiotics. The front desk staff then had the audacity to guilt me into feeling like I needed to pay them double what the medication cost rather than order from chewy (which I'd receive in 24 hours, chewy is great!) even though they were the ones that took almost over a WEEK to even tell me the results of the tests. I asked for a copy of the results to review myself, as I was sure they were not telling me everything that was on there based on my cat's history. They wouldn't release them until the other vet reviewed, which took another 2 days. I finally got a call with that vet verifying that yes, there was a lot of other concerns on there that they hadn't told me. At this point, it had taken almost 2 weeks to just get my results back and my cat was still sick and the only thing they offered was to continue to repeat bloodwork and do more expensive diagnostics. We went to another vet and that vet said the diagnostics were unnecessary, adjusted her medications and care on the spot, and within 24 hours, my cat was doing so much better. Pompton Lakes did nothing for my cat but take a ton of my money and waste a few weeks where my cat's health was at risk when it shouldn't have been.

Brought my cat here because she was not eating and drinking! Took X-rays and said dehydrated and constipated! They put the water under her skin called sub q. We took her home and 10 hours later rushed to emergency hospital in Fairfield because she was having trouble breathing! The Dr said she had an enlarged heart and a lot of fluid around her heart now !! She was shocked that pompton lakes hospital vet owner did not hear her heart and come up with a different diagnosis!! She died 5 minutes later!! The water they put under her skin all went to her heart!!! The owner dr kittatinny not sure of spelling would not even talk to my husband or myself! I sent the report and he surely knows he was so wrong!!!!

The whole staff at Pompton Lakes Animal Hospital have been so wonderful! Both times we were in and out with only a few minutes wait. Dr Cattiny was amazing with our snake. He was wonderful in showing us how we have to medicate hiim at home which sounded scary but He made it look easy ? We gave him his injections and oral medicine and brought him back today for a follow up and Dr Cattiny said, He looks like a new snake! He knew exactly what our snake needed. He was very knowledgeable and informative, compassionate, kind and friendly. Thank you Dr Cittany and staff!! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WONDERFUL!!!

my pet was a patient here for only a month but we experienced so many red flags from this place during that time. to trickle it down, the greatest issue was communication. a few examples (that get progressively worse):1. I brought my pet in for a medical emergency to the Westwood clinic. This was the first vet I experienced where we weren’t allowed in the examination room with the pet. The vet tech, vet, and front desk person came up to me separate times to chat about her condition and I was surprised how many times I had to repeat my story. Why weren’t they talking?2. A few days later, when my pet got her test results back - I talked to the vet who said my pet needed another blood test in three weeks to see how she’s reacting to the treatment & if the disease could be affecting her other organs. I made the appointment asking for the blood test, brought her in, and then a few days later, got the results & asked about how her other organs are reacting. The vet tech only took blood for a specific blood test not full work. Why didn’t the vet communicate that she needed a full panel? How was I (not a vet or medically trained person) to know that I should be specifying exactly what panel my pet needs? Why wasn’t that on her file?3. I brought my pet back a few days later to get the full blood panel. Even though the miscommunication was their mistake, I was surprised they didn’t offer to take the initial blood test off our bill.4. My pet started having a severe allergic reaction to her medication. I called their pompton lakes location and Westwood location multiple times, it took the vet 30+ hours to respond to the emergency and advise me on what to do next.5. My pet and I ended up moving across the country. It took 6 voicemails, and 2 phone conversations, and 1 in real life conversation to have them send me my pet’s records with them (keep in mind.. she was a patient for a MONTH and had an actual medical diagnosis that needs ongoing treatment with them).6. After we moved, it took me once again multiple phone calls and voicemails until my pet’s prescription on Chewy was approved by the vet (she prescribed it).Overall, I was so incredibly appalled with the treatment here. I’ve experienced great vets, mediocre vets, but this practice set a new low for the most awful vets. I hope they’re able to make improvements to their establishment soon! If you don’t have a medical emergency and are able to work with other vets in the area, I highly recommend it. This whole experience was incredibly disappointing.

I know the importance of a review ….One of the hardest things as a “fur baby “ parent is to make that decision when it is time to let them go.Our family has become so close to everyone at Pompton Lakes animal hospital.I want everyone to understand we have three :chocolate labs -two of which have medical issues. The care, compassion ,the way they go over and above to take our fur babies is exceptional. We made that decision last night to let our sweet crazy Nellie girl cross over the bridge. I want to say thank you to everyone for the professionalism and compassion our family received. The staff is like my family and Dr Mc Connell- I can’t say enough on how you put our Nellie first and our hearts at ease. We thank you from the bottom of our heart .

My 5 1/2 month old kittens got spayed and neutered a few days ago. They seem to be doing really well. Dr. Giammanco did their surgeries. The sutures we're beautifully done. Nothing looks irritated or inflamed. The kittens bounced back right away. Dr. Giammanco is great. He answers any questions I have and doesn't rush me. He takes the time to listen. I was a nervous wreck and scared about my kittens surgeries because I've only been going to Pompton Lakes Animal Hospital for the past 5 months. Prior, I was with the same vet for 20+ years who just retired the end of April 2022. So, I was very diligent in finding the right vet for my babies. Dr. Cattiny and Dr. Giammanco we're highly recommended by my best friend, her husband and both of their families. They all have brough their animals to Pompton Lakes Animal Hospital and still currently do. The office staff are super nice. Every visit, they make me feel comfortable and are very friendly. I received a follow up phone call from Mike, one of the office staff, two days after the kittens surgery to check up on them. I thought that was so nice. I don't recall ever having a vet that did that. My babies are back to their crazy selves and don't appear to be in any residual pain from surgery. Thank you so much Dr. Giammanco for being great and thank you to the staff for always being awesome.
