The Bayshore Center at Bivalve is the perfect place to spend a day. I learned so many new and interesting things from visiting the center, meeting new people, and enjoying a sail on the AJ Meerwald tall ship schooner, which was built on the Maurice River and used for oystering on the Bay back in the day. Delicious food on site as well. Lots of neat spots and roads nearby!

What a great experience we had at the Bayshore Center!!! Museum staff member was friendly and helpful. We attended the Sip and Sails, 2.5 hour sail, beer from the Glasstown Brewery, cheese plate, education about the history of the A J Meerwald, and the opportunity to assist in raising her sails! I love their mission of educating children about the history of the Oyster industry and this beautiful schooner, sailing, and environment. They are a non-profit, doing great work, and we are looking forward to heading back soon!

First off they are not closed. Very interesting history of the Oyster industry that was there. Very well done museum and all the staff were great. The ride on the boat turned out to be more fun than just a ride. They were short on crew ,so us passengers helped hoist the sails. Also there is protected marsh lands nearby that are worth looking at.

Had a pleasant visit. Nick was our knowledgeable host as we toured New Jersey's tall ship. Nick does it all from boat tours, museum host, teacher, and gift shop associate. Hoping a captain us found so we can set sail on the schooner.?

Staff members closed the museum 40 min before its posted closing time and kicked me out, so I didn’t finish reading the boards.I understand many places and short staffed and are heavily relied on volunteers. That’s totally fine and actually volunteers are very much appreciated. They allow many museums to open when they are otherwise closed if only relied on paid employees. But, good communication should be the bare minimum requirement of the volunteer. On my visit, the staff just packed up his bag, locked all the other sections, and told me “I’m ready to leave” at 4.20PM when the museum should close at 5. This is not a free museum. It says “suggested donation” $7, but they will make sure you pay. So this is a textbook example of giving short weight.

The boat wasn't available to be seen. We were a little out of season 4 actually seeing the boat. It was a nice drive over there
