Hi I normally don’t write reviews but my visit to Blue Mercury in Princeton definitely warranted one. A couple of weeks ago I was walking around Palmer square, it was a day that I was in need of some shopping therapy. I was quickly approaching a milestone birthday needing a pick me up. I walked into Blue Mercury never thinking an encounter with a salesperson would change my whole outlook on how I would feel about myself. The salesman Joey approached me, asking me if he can help me, I said boy I could use a lot of help, if you know what I mean. He said , I really don’t know what you mean because you are beautiful, but I have products that may help you see that for yourself. He’s sincerity was so genuine, and as we looked and tried products he actually was trying to get to know me and me knowing my worth. I left there looking forward to my birthday approaching and meeting not just the sweetest salesman but an amazing human being that I now have the honor of knowing. My products he helped me pick are a part of my daily routine and I think of Joey and his kind and gentle nature. I will be heading back there for more products next week and can’t wait to introduce him to some of my friends when I do. They also want some of this glow I have from these products that Joey was so spot on!

If you’re thinking of going, I 100% recommend asking for Kasey💕. I’ve truly never been helped so well in a makeup store. I’m not very experienced with makeup, and every time I try to shop, I end up feeling unsure—about colors, what’s essential, or what suits me. I’m also a bit shy, so it’s not easy to ask for help.
But Kasey was amazing. She was kind, patient, and really knew how to guide me. She picked out products that were perfect for me, and I left genuinely happy. For the first time, I felt confident and understood.
The store has a great variety, with really good brands—not just one label—which makes the experience even better 🤗

Visited for the first time and they have a decent collection of cosmetics but the workers give mean girl vibes. Just chatting away amongst themselves and were eyeing me the entire time while I was scrolling through the store, made my shopping experience uncomfortable. Won’t be returning.

I walked in looking for skin products for birthday presents. The store was not busy. I was completely ignored by everyone working there. I left feeling not important enough for anyone's effort.

Worst shopping experience I’ve ever had. The sales person was giving me way too much attitude for someone who decided not to wear deodorant that morning. When she pulled products off the shelf for me, she would literally yank them away when I tried to hold them to look at their ingredients, price, etc. She also insisted on taking every item I looked at to the register and trying to force me to buy them. When I specified which product I wanted she hassled me and said “you only want this?? This isn’t even nice” (Bluemercury, why are you selling a $37 blush if it isn’t ‘nice’?) it’s a product I’ve used for years and love! So I bought it but I’m gonna return it today because I would rather give any other store my business.

The salespeople in this store today were TERRIBlLE. I visit Princeton often to see family, was wearing makeup and nice clothing, and just stopped in to buy two products - Bobbi Brown foundation and moisturizer. It should have been the easiest, quickest “sale” ever! Instead, no fewer than five employees completely ignored me, even when I waited patiently at the checkout counter and no other customers were standing there. They seemed to prefer chatting to each other or testing the products on themselves. They were distracted, self-absorbed, and incredibly rude. I felt like I was at Kendall Roy’s birthday party — it was that terrible. There are lovely products in the store, but there’s no one there who might sell them to you.

Went to BlueMercury for 1st time and I am sold! Products I’ve seen nowhere else and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I will be back for sure especially because they have Sisley which I have been looking for ?????

Absolutely every last annoying thing I want to avoid when I shop is epitomized here. First of all, yes this place is pricey. I get it, and I'm not looking for the same experience, as at a Sephora, or even an Ulta, but when you see items that you can then find on Gilt Groupe for 1/2 off (like Nest, etc), it just emphasizes how overpriced this shop is. Second, it's beyond annoying and mind-boggling how many employees there are working in this tiny store, and how each one of them only deals with their own section. If you want a certain type of eyeliner (like liquid) , but they don't carry that in "their" line, whelp, they will try to push what they have in their line on you, even if you don't want it. Please don't tell me how to use a brush to apply eye pencil. If I wanted that I would buy it ffs. Third, the snooty attitude is so boring. Employee ladies: please have more chill, and also stop hovering! Gosh it is so unpleasant here. The store is minuscule - keep 10 feet from me so I can browse. Please stop suggesting things to me, so we can just enjoy looking and touching the packaging and if I have a question, will certainly ask. This store reminds me of why I shop online. I want my fancy eyeliner, and my Tom Ford perfume, but not at the expense of dealing with these type of people at Blue Mercury. Btw, parking near this location is a hellscape between almost no metered spots, and those aren't cheap, to the nearby structure that only gives 30 minutes free. TL/dr: stay away, shop online instead.
