I visited the Ulta in Rockaway, NJ for the first time, and unfortunately it was a very poor experience. Two associates followed me around the store as if I was going to steal something. When I asked to sample two perfumes, I was met with unnecessary attitude.
As someone visiting from out of town, I expected a welcoming environment, but instead I felt anxious due to the unprofessional and uninviting atmosphere.
Even more concerning, after making a purchase of over $80 (and receiving my receipt), I received multiple alerts that the store was attempting to charge my card again for the same amount between 9pm and 4am. I had to lock my card to stop it. This is unacceptable and should be investigated immediately.
It’s clear from other customer reviews that this is not an isolated incident. I urge management to take accountability, improve staff training, and set higher standards for professionalism and presentation.

I had an uncomfortable and confusing experience with an employee named Michelle. From the start, she gave conflicting directions — telling me to move my bag to one side of the counter, then directing me to use the card machine on the opposite side. When I tried to follow, she’d shift again, leaning back where she originally said not to be, making the entire process feel chaotic and awkward. Instead of assisting, she stood with her hands pulled in toward her chest, silently waiting for me to unload my items without offering any real help. Her tone and body language came off as dismissive and passive-aggressive, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
What should have been a quick, simple transaction felt unnecessarily difficult and unpleasant — and her last-minute “have a good one” felt more like a formality than anything sincere.

The floor staff/cashiers are always very friendly and helpful. I’ve been going to Ulta for a very long time and my experiences are always great! Thanks you Ashley for my hair and thank you Tyler for your kind and professional help!

Ulta is my go-to place for skincare and cosmetics. They have an excellent selection of products to choose from in all price ranges. I've been a customer of theirs for so long, maybe 20 years. Besides buying almost every skincare and body care product from them, I also go to their salon for haircare. I'm always happy with the outcome. I've been through several stylists, and so far, there's not one that has disappointed me. Definitely recommended them.

Abigail is everything you want & more. An incredible human, social but not TOO social (aka you won’t have someone making small talk with you for hours on end, if you know you know!) & a perfectionist which is actually what’s needed when it comes to something as important as your hair. Can’t thank her enough for the effort, communication & care she puts in.

I have an appointment today at 1 o’clock and when I make an appointment over the phone.The lady that I spoke didn’t mention to me about partial highlights. I told them I want highlights and if I can do the haircut as well and she was telling me when you come in to the salon just mention what you need & they will tell you how much is the price. When I came in today, the lady I think her name is V told me that they booked me as a partial highlights. I was upset because they’re not able to do full highlights and also haircut They want me to come back at 5 PM to do everything. I don’t wanna come back at 5 PM and I explain to them I took a day off for my work. The manager From Ulta beauty Salon seems she doesn’t care about it. TheUnfortunately, she was not able to accommodate my request so I had to call another salon Who can do my highlights and haircuts & I left. I was so upset to them. I will never come back to the freaking Ulta beauty anymore. I hate this place the way they treated me. They Took my information Incorrectly for my appointment over the phone I even show them the text that I have a confirmation appointment, which is today. Employees are not friendly. They’re horrible people. I would never recommend to anyone or even my friends to come in the freaking Ulta beauty in Rockaway Nj

the girl was really nice and all but my bangs were butchered. Cut very very very short like 1-2 inches in some spots. I felt bad because she was so nice but seriously don’t come here.

Christina did a great haircut! Her consult was excellent, she asked questions and checked in while cutting. The blow dry was rough, with my face being scratched by the brush a few times. Would recommend to a friend, and return myself.
