Brought my vehicle in for the transmission , after being told by service mechanics that the transmission cannot be fixed . Was referred by someone to contact Matthew at transmission and car care center . He was honest and upfront , contacted me within a reasonable time frame and provided options including a warranty . He even referred a tow company to pick up my vehicle . Thank you again .

Fives stars. Don’t believe any negative reviews.Let me break it down the best way I can. My transmission on an Altima went bad and the car was slipping and could not go over 20 mph. Other shops said “get a new transmission” or a new car. I got the codes from AutoZone just to be sure. I called the owner for a quote. After limping into his shop with the car he helped me get home from the shop and told me the correct issues. He found the cheapest way to repair the transmission and gave me a warranty. Did the repair on a quick timeline so I could get to and from work without blowing money on Ubers. 8000 miles later the car is still driving with no issues. The owner is trustworthy and a big help. Bring your car here for transmission issues!Service: Transmission repair

I was worried i would have to replace my car when the dealership told me I needed to replace my transmission. Matt reassured me that his team would be able to fix my trans. He walked me through the different issues I had and how to resolve those issues. He was also quick to respond to any questions I had and kept me in the loop. Now my car drives smoother than ever?Service: Transmission repair

I was having a problem with my transmission. My husband stopped by this repair shop. He spoke to Matt and explained the problem I was having with the car. Matt assured him that he would be able to repair the car, by rebuilding the transmission. My husband had the car towed there, he was told by Matt that he keep him updated about the repair. After more than a week went by (we were in no rush to get the car back) my husband contacted him, he didn't have an update. After not hearing from him for another week or so, my husband contacted him again. He said he needed a $1000 deposit to start the repair. My husband took him the deposit and was given a receipt. About a month later when he claimed he had finished the repair, my husband went to pickup the car and pay the balance ($2000 more) he claimed my husband never gave him the $1000 deposit. He had to come back home to get the receipt to prove he had already paid $1000. He also then told my husband that the car is still unable to be driven, because the computer needed to be reset by the dealer. Something he didn't tell my husband when he said he could repair it. My husband took the car to the dealership to be repaired, they refused to look at it because they didn't do the transmission repair. The dealership referred us to another mechanic. When that mechanic looked at the car, he said it needed to go back to Matt for additional work. Matt allowed my husband to bring the car back. The car was there for about a month before called my husband to say the car was ready. When we went to pick it up, one of the mechanics said the car had never been touched. We left it there and my husband contacted Matt, he claimed the mechanic didn't know what he was talking about. He also stated that he just had to out some oil in it and he would call when it's ready. After another week went by, my husband called him; again he said the car is ready. He went to pick it up with the tow truck driver, the car couldn't go in drive. He asked Matt why the car couldn't go in drive, he said he didn't put any oil in it and he would have to pay an additional $400 if he wanted him to put it in. He had towed back to the other mechanic, he said the car wasn't repaired. He asked my husband to call Matt, so that he could speak with him to explain the problem with the car. My husband contacted Matt again about the car, he said he is not repairing the car although he provided a warranty. He told my husband to take him to court. PLEASE, DO NOT take your car to this guy. We just wasted $3000.

I was referred here by a coworker after my car started making weird noises. I had been to 2 other places previously and both told me my transmission was bad. I was desperate for one more opinion and my coworker referred me to Matt. Matt was amazing! He diagnosed the issue free of charge and found it to be only an electrical issue in the transmission. Needless to say I was thrilled with this news as well as the price I was quoted to do the repair. My car is running great no more crazy noises!! Great place, great people who know what they’re doing.Service: Transmission repair

I had my transmission rebuilt TWICE from this establishment and it's still left me stranded today. Turns out it was just a front seal that needed to be replaced because the fluid kept leaking out. You don't even know how robbed I feel of my hard earned money and most importantly my time! All the times I was stranded on highways since these halfway done rebuild jobs this company did that had me on the brinks of death. Unbelievable ??♂️Service: Transmission repair

Man where do I begin with this prolonged tragedy? To make this long story short, Matt took in my jeep and quoted me for total transmission rebuild. After its first rebuild, I continued to experience similar issues that brought me in the first place with transmission stalling and gear shift skips. Then, it completely locks up on me while on the road. Take it back, said it was due to trans fluid completely leaked out. They "fix" the leak. 1 month later, the trans locks up on me again! Matt offers to use its warranty and rebuild for a second time. Then what happens the following month? Another break down on the highway on my way to work This pattern continues to happen for a total of FIVE times. You're probably wondering, why didn't you just ask for a refund and go somewhere else? Well, unfortunately they wouldn't give it to me. What's the current status? My jeep has been parked on a lot for over 2 months because it cannot even reverse now. $2,500 down the drain, a lot of precious time WASTED, anxiety and now a disabled vehicle!

MCDARBY MOTORS TRANSMISSION AND CAR CARE 111 SAINT GEORGE AVENUE ROSELLE, NJ. 07203 I wanted to make sure that everyone was clear about where this business is located and not confuse it with all the other honest, hardworking mechanics out there. On September 14th, I spoke to the owner Matt McDarby about the problem with the car. On September 17th, I dropped the car off using AAA services. He told me he was not going to be there but his employees will take care of it. At first we discussed that it was a transmission problem, and we agreed that he would examine the car further to see what was going on. From Sept. 17th to the 24th, I texted and called him numerous times and was told by him that he would call me back. But he never did. On the 24th, I called him and he told me that there was something else wrong with the transmission, but he needed some money to purchase the part. On that same day, I went to the shop and gave him $500. I asked for a receipt but instead of giving me a written receipt, he gave me a text stating that I gave him $500, with no description of services rendered or to be rendered. On Sept. 30th I spoke to him and texted him and asked him about the car. Again, he said he would call me back and was on the line or busy. That day, I decided I had enough and I wanted my car back to take it to a competent mechanic who would fix my car and not hold it for 2 weeks. Once I told him I wanted the car back, I received a text with prices. His charges were as follows: $3,500 for a used transmission with a 3 month warranty, minus $500 $3,800 for a new transmission with new parts, with a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty Once I told him my intentions, on Sept. 30th, he kept questioning my reasons. I did not like how he conducted business and he wanted to discuss why I wanted my car back. He insisted that I call him but I texted him telling him that this was not going to work out and I wanted my car back and a refund. He insisted that we talk about this on the phone. So, he called me and became very belligerent and told me that he was going to get his attorneys and I needed to sign a document in order for him to release my car. Then he said that MY TRANSMISSION WOULD BE INSIDE A BOX IN THE TRUNK OF MY CAR. I never texted him back or called him after that. I went to McDarby Motors Transmission and Car Care on Oct. 2nd after going to the Roselle police precinct. I asked for a police escort in case the situation got volatile. The officers were very civil and fair. The officers were intermediaries between me and Matt McDarby. I went into an office with them and him and signed a paper which said that I HAD A CREDIT OF $500, therefore in fact, he was keeping the money. The document that I signed had the wrong license Plate number on it, with a "proposed completed date" of October 2nd, the day I picked the car up. I was charged $275 for solenoids and another $225 to replace them. The car was pushed out to the street and parked about 2 ft. Away from the curb. Officers climbed into the trunk to open it and McDarby's employees placed a plastic bin, about 3 feet long with parts of my transmission in it. He also gave me a box with bolts and screws. Since then I've had the car looked at by other mechanics to get it fixed. They have said that there were parts of the transmission that did not need to be disassembled. I have taken photographs of all parts and documents. McDarby Transmissions and Car Care promotes itself as being accredited with the Better Business Bureau which is not true, and has a C+ rating because of complaints made against them by other customers. BEWARE AND DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION!!!!

The best of the best transmission shops in Jersey! Matt and his mechanics made sure to replace my transmission perfectly. He also went above and beyond to take care of other issues with my car like pc valve, engine mount, coil pack/spark plugs, power steering rack & pinion. I was very happy to hear that he took that initiative to handle these things. I found out I had a weak battery and Matt gave me a brand new battery as a courtesy which made me even more happy! I am beyond pleased with Matt and his mechanics service. They make you feel like family and are always very understanding. He’s a very honest mechanic which is very hard to come by. If you’re reluctant to bring your car here, don’t be, Matt will take care of all your car issues for a very reasonable price! A++++Services: Steering/Suspension
