So disappointed. I had heard such great things about this place. There were two teenage boys at the front when I dropped off my blouse. The one pinned the blouse. I told him multiple time I wanted it shortened but that I wanted the shirt tail shape kept. He confirmed they would keep the shape. Nope. It's cut straight across the front with a weird curve in the back. I was in a hurry when I picked it up, but I made such a point of it when dropping it off that I didn't want to have to go over it all again anyway. Luckily it was only a thrift find and not an expensive item. I won't be returning.

I have been a long time customer of gold thimble but I'll never go back. Unprofessional, rude, and highway robbery are just a few of the words I'd use to describe this business. A few months ago I brought my dress for my daughters christening here. They assured me it would be ready the night before the christening (I brought it in about 3 weeks before the event). Needless to say she didn't "finish it in time" - I was stuck with a $120 bill and no dress to wear to her christening. I tried this business again, after some time had passed, asking for straps to be tightened on a dress. When told it would take over a week to be completed, i brought this dress to Blue Ribbon cleaners in red bank, who told me my alteration request would take him a total of 15 minutes to complete, and I could come back later in the day, at a much more reasonable price.

I got burned a second time with this alteration shop. A few years ago i brought in a dress to be shortened and they turned a maxi dress to a mini dress. I gave the shop another try very recently. I thought they were reputable and maybe had legitimately made a mistake.. I brought in 2 dresses to be shortened. One had a raw hem that was perfectly even cut at the manufacturer (banana republic). I thought that since they are tailors that they would have the tools to shorten the dress. Obviously I was wrong because they took a scissor and cut the hem leaving the hem uneven and shredded. She charged me $75 to shorten this dress and another. I will never return there and I suggest alterations to be done at another tailor. My dress is now ruined. If i bring it to be fixed it will be too short.Service: Alterations

I brought in my wedding dress for alterations. I was nervous as I was on a tight schedule with a planned destination wedding but due to COVID didn't want to get too ahead of myself. They were quick and efficient and made the process a breeze.

I've been coming here intermittently for years and as long as I live in the area I'll be a lifetime customer. The ladies here go out of their way to help your clothes looking their best

I needed my bridesmaid dress hemmed roughly 1 inch. While I didn't ask for a quote (should have...) I was shocked when I picked up my dress and they said it was $95 for the work. Gold Thimble was recommended to me by the bride of the wedding I was standing up in, as she and many other members of her family were getting their dresses (and other garments) altered there. Somehow her dress only cost $150; straps needed to be adjusted and cup padding was added, so I am shocked that something as basic as a 1 inch hem could cost so much. Other garments were charged varying prices that I cannot make sense of. Had I known the price I would have just bought a taller pair of shoes. As I am planning my own wedding I know I will certainly not bring this establishment any of my business because I don't want my loved ones to get ripped off as I did.

Katarina at the Gold Thimble saved the day for my wedding 2 months ago! I had gotten dress alterations where I purchased my gown in Morristown (Elizabeth John's) and they did a terrible job. After trying to get them to fix it, I finally gave up and brought my dress home. There was one wrinkle in the neckline that was fairly noticeable but I thought it could be pressed out. When the dry cleaners said they couldn't get the wrinkle out the day before my wedding, I took the dress to Katarina at the Gold Thimble. She was kind enough to see me at the last minute and although she was unable to fix the dress completely in the time she had (less than 24 hours!) she came up with a solution to cover the wrinkle. It took her a few hours, but in that time she took a piece of lace from the back of the dress and strategically placed it over the wrinkle. It perfectly blended with the other lace on the bodice and the wrinkle was no longer noticeable. It was perfect! AND she was able to fix a few other dress issues - loose hem, cups falling out, lace not fully sewn onto bodice, etc. I was so pleased and so grateful to the Gold Thimble and Katarina for their help. I really should have done my alterations with her to begin with!!

The best seamstress and tailor shop in Monmouth County. Whenever I need an alteration, I go to Gold Thimble. They have a high standard for quality work. Last month I had a overcoat altered. I received compliments from my friends on my new overcoat!

The work that was done to my clothing was ok, the Russian lady that I did not get her name was ok, but not so friendly I had a fashion show to attend needed quick alterations, I guess considering the circumstances but I had to take elsewhere again to get the bust line altered, the padding that was sewn in came undone, sloppy. I could of done better job, I took it to the red bank tailors and they fixed my issue in 1 hour no charge meanwhile this place gold thimble charged me. My opinion never again will I recommend this place to alter any of my fashion show gowns that I model. My experience and my opinion.

Will NEVER go back. Quoted me $75 for a hen and shoulder lift on a dress. I thought that was high, but I needed it quickly, so I agreed. When I picked it up, she said, $95! I told her saw quoted me $75 and she denied it. She finally agreed, but then said since it was lined, she needed to charge more. She then claimed the original was an estimate and was $85, which it was not. Terrible service and when I told her I would not be back, she stated that she was already busy and didn't need more business anyway. Beware!!!
