If you love your pet, please DO NOT TAKE HIM HERE. My dog was misdiagnosed two years ago. They treated my dog for a skin condition. Their philosophy is let's prescribe meds and see what happens. I've heard this for the past three months. Took my boy to Marsh Vet Hospital in Verona. One look at him and the doctor said "your dog had Canine Parvovirus". He gave my boy a thorough examination and said his immune system is compromised. If caught earlier he could have been saved. My boy suffered badly for the past three months. Now he's DEAD. If you LOVE your pet, please find another vet.

Staff is nice and good and all but these prices are getting out of control. Had to switch Vets and found one with reasonably solid prices. For instances VCA wanted to charge me 1300-1400 for a neuter and the other place was $800 with extra sedatives when my dog gets home.

I’ve been taking my dog here for several years. Staff is very friendly. I brought my dog for a checkup visit today that included a Bordetella vaccine and heartwarm/tick disease test. We did the same exact visit one year ago on 11/8/22 and the cost has increased by 38%! Last year the total was $265 and this year it was $365. That’s quite a big jump in one year. Here’s the breakdown from 2022 to 2023:Exam: 107.50 to 129.00 — 20% increaseBordetella: 41.80 to 61.20 — 48% increaseHW/Tick Test: 129.95 to 216.00 — 66% increaseI understand businesses are also impacted by inflation, but these increases are out of line. Is it really necessary to fleece pet owners like this? Seems excessive and greedy. I feel bad for people that have more than one animal. Costs are going to really add up. What a shame.

What a shame.Update: I sent an email to them as suggested, but no one has called me yet. Seems like everyone gets the same canned reply.Update 2: 12/6/23 - waited almost a month and still no one called. Went in to visit the office again to speak with a manager and got an assistant supervisor. I expressed my concerns and the reply I got was that I am lucky because the office only had 2 price increases this year, while one of their other offices had three. Essentially, the explanation I received was that it's due to inflation. Two price hikes in 1 year? Totally out of line. How does the cost of a common vaccine go up 48% in one year? Absurd! Time to look for another vet.

When I made an appointment for a rabies shot and nail trim they wanted a deposit a month in advance....and when I took my cat in for a rabbies shot, nail trim and ear cleaning I got a bill for almost $300 dollars...and my friend who brought her cat for a swollen leg had exrays on its leg and it cost over $1,000...I mean the Doctor and assistants are good but do you could leave me a little money for food...not everyone makes $1,300 an hour.

Rutherford hospital has become a joke since being taken over by VCA. They no longer keep animals overnight for treatment, so the cat I brought in which had a broke leg, and needed to be fix, left largely untreated. Avoid any hospital managed by VCA its just corrporate greed. VCA clearly does not care if an animal is in pain or can be treated for a management problem such as a broken leg. any vet working for them should be ashamed

Dr. Hoskin is amazing! I took my senior dog to her for some health concerns and she was extremely thorough. Dr. Hoskin has a genuine passion for animals. She took the time to explain everything to me in detail, and made sure that I understood all of my options before making any decisions. I can say I know my dog is in good hands with Dr. Hoskin.

I use to take my fur baby here and had to stop after one occasion where he was seriously ill and we were turned down because they couldn’t handle him since he was “too aggressive” I have a literal 14 pound maltipoo not a beast. How can you be an animal hospital and can’t even handle a dog!! It’s your JOB. If he was too aggressive why not then medicate him, but he never posed any risk to anyone so how are you going to turn down a sick animal. Besides that they were so judgemental.

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE I've been to with my pet. Very tactful staff. I am very pleased with the service and the fact that my animal was helped not for all the money in the world! And it's cool. Dr. Beber and his assistant were great.

I normally do not put reviews, but if you love your pet and you don't want him close to dying and getting charged overprice, stay away from this place. My dog has been healthy all his 13 years, took him for an exam / consultation (120.60) a rabies shot (59.50), they suggested the DA2P-Pv Vaccine (77.65), which I foolishly agreed since we are planning to travel overseas, was there for over an hour, I work from home so had limited time and needed to get back home after my hour break. My dog seemed fine, he pooped normal at the vet office, but then he threw up a yellow liquid and that's when the doctor said that he should stay "to keep an eye on him" and that the vaccine may had giving him a bad reaction.I again foolishly agreed. Left him there at 2:45PM, I then get a phone call at 3PM at my home office from the vet stating that my dog is in bad shape and that they needed to administer IV Catheter Peripheral (68.00) and Anesthesia (82.00) and lastly another charge for Pre/Post Vaccine Reaction 29.10 (what a crock)Long story short ended up paying 437.65, I honestly do not see anything wrong with my dog, he is running, eating, playing like he always does, there is no proof that they administered anesthesia and all the other things they added in my bill.I know we are going through a financial crisis, (Thanks Joe Biden)But that doesn't give you the right to rip people off, I am too affected by this terrible economy, but whatever, it is what it is.Folks stay away from this place! If your dog/pet needs a rabies shot check your hometown website some towns provide free rabies shots for local residents.

I decided to go here when I had to put my sweet girl to sleep this weekend because it was closer to us then our regular vet and I didn’t want to stress my cat anymore then she already was. Anyone who has had to put a pet to sleep knows how unbelievably heart wrenching this is. Dr. Hosin and the vet tech (sorry I didn’t catch her name) were so incredibly kind, patient, and went above and beyond for us. They treated us and our baby Squeak like they had known us for years, and the entire process was handled with such grace. I’ve been a cat owner for over 15 years and I’ve been to my fair share of horrible vet clinics with no bedside manner whatsoever. Rutherford VCA is not a place where you have to worry about your pets being in great care.I can’t thank Dr. Hosin and her staff enough for their knowledge, comforting words, and for making my sweet girl feel so comfortable in her time of need.Highly recommended, and I look forward to bringing my other pets here in the future. Thank you again.

brought in a feral stray cat that was obviously hit by a car and was suffering...the receptionist went in back to advise Dr the cat was in a recycling bin and I was requesting the cat be pts for the condition of it Dr never came out but told the receptionist " we can't help" I advised them that although this was not my cat I would be willing to pay to help this poor cat be out of misery...they refused and did nothing horrible heartless place....think twice before you use them
