The reviews saying this restaurant is anything less then an impressive, wonderful experience from beginning to end are confusing.I have been dining here for the past 5 years and it has never ceased to be anything but exceptional. From the moment you are greeted at the door, everyone from the hostess, to the management , the servers , bartenders, and bussers all show profound care for their patrons, expertise, and a depth of service that is felt every visit.A seasonal ever changing menu keeps things fresh and interesting and the utilization of the areas freshest meat, seafood, and produce puts this restaurant above the rest.An eclectic spread of carefully crafted flavor combinations , it is impossible to go wrong. Some personal favorites of mine include the kale Caesar salad, duck poutine over house made fries,(which is only on the tavern menu but can be ordered in the dining room as well) burrata, Campanella pasta tossed with roasted sweet potato, spinach, sage brown butter sauce, and a fresh dollop of goat cheese .Duck cassoulet, the butchers daily cut with locally foraged mushrooms, sautéed kale, potato terrine, and au jus. A generous portion of pan seared scallops with apple relish and a lemon brown butter sauce. I could keep going , but the bottom line is everything is fantastic here so see for yourself! If you save room for dessert share a chocolate peanut butter trifle, its the best!

Every room of Sergeantsville provides a different experience. The Tavern has awesome attentive bartenders & tasty bar foods . I would to recommend the honey bbq popcorn & fried pickles to everyone. The library is always my favorite for brunch . Of course , get the biscuits & gravy . For dinner, make a reservation for the dining room! My recommendation for dinner would be to save room for desert & espresso martini! The maple glazed salmon or the scallops are both tied for first in my ratings & if you can’t finish the chocolate peanut butter desert, take . It . Homeeee.

This was once a great restaurant. This time the food was unacceptable, a rip off. Drinks were meagre. The kale salad was a heap without dressing. The waitress told us that that they were out of their locally-sourced "butcher's slice" of beef, served instead chewy overdone roast beef at full price. The salmon and chicken main courses were mediocre and the deserts we selected from their meagre menu were in inedible. The young waitress was nice but apparently totally inexperienced, useless in guiding us through the choices that had changed significantly. Never again unless there are new reputable owners.

The worst experience at this restaurant ever. we had dinned there for many years. We were looking forward to a good experience with the new owners. We were so wrong and so disappointed. My dinner of smoked salmon was a real joke. A one inch tick slice of black bread and few tiny slices of good smoked salmon, unfortunately covered with a strange mixture, my pasta dinner looked more and tasted more like a soup, and I am very kind on my choice of words !! All in a total fiasco.Don’t waste your money.G.CNew Hope, pa

This was our first time back since the new owners took over. The young female hostess was friendly, welcoming and seated us quickly in the main dining room. It appears extra tables had been added to the room, making it feel cramped. We ordered the mushroom Arancini, which were tasty and came out hot. We also ordered the Heritage wheat bread and the soup of the day, which was vegetable barley. The soup and bread took a very long time to come out and the soup was luke warm and tasteless. The bread was chewy and seemed to be reheated, making the texture unappealing. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi and my husband ordered the braised pork pappardelle. Both dishes were extremely disappointing. The gnocchi were unlike any Italian gnocchi I ever had. They were heavy, had no flavor and came out luke warm. The pappardelle dish was a huge clump of doughy, floury pasta and the pork lacked flavor. I ate the mushrooms and left the gnocchi. The table had no salt or pepper shaker, leaving our meals bland. This mediocre meal cost over $110 and included 2 draft beers. We won’t be back to our former once a week favorite restaurant based on today’s disappointing meal. What a sad day in Sergeantsville!!!

We used to dine @ Sergeantsville at least 3 - 4 times a month and werebgenuinely pleased with the restaurant (design, decor, unique atmosphere, menu & wine list ). Then one winter evening our dinner party experienced a problem with an entree and immediately notified the management to alert the chef. Nothing was done about the problem by the management ( who told our table that the chef found nothing wrong with the entree period.). We then immediately paid the bill ( no credit for an uneaten entree ) and left the restaurant with one of our party sickened from consuming just a few bites and the rest queasy from the entree's rancid smell. We have dined elsewhere over the past 2 years purposefully avoiding this restaurant. This evening we decided to break our hiatus and return for dinner. Unfortunately, it fell far short again of culinary expectations, and all entrees which were ordered were thoroughly disappointing. The Beef Short Ribs were tough and unchewable but worst was the Vegetsble Pot Roast. The small cubes of root vegetables were crunchy raw ( how was that possible ? ) and the sauce had no flavor ... two wedges of puff pastry sat along side on the plate. The entree was taken away, table cleared. We paid the bill, exited Sergeantsville Inn. Fortunately it was not late in the evening & we drove to another restaurant with excellent cuisine. Not returning to Sergrantsville anytime soon..

This restaurant is located in a beautiful stone building filled with delicious food & kind staff. We went in on the weekend for brunch & were not disappointed. We were sat quickly because we had a restvation. The waitress came over promptly to greet us & take our orderEverything we got go eat was so good & the food came out quickly. The stone in the room we sat in was stunning. I love a building rich with history. We will for sure be back. There is limited parking in front, but if you look just across the street you'll find a much bigger lot that you can park in. Prices are reasonable & serving sizes are perfect.

While it is a shadow of what it was before the fire and the new owners, we still were good customers and have been here many times over the last 2 years. The menu is tired now and portions way too small and the owner is a snob and smug. When you drop &400.00 for dinner, you expect the dining room not to have a guy next to you wearing a baseball cap, reserve that for the tavern. The owner did not agree so guess what, will not be back and you have lost a loyal customer. Your food is just ok in what is a beautiful building when you are not next to a guy with a Cat Diesel hat. Wake up, there is a reason you can always get I. Your restaurant. You are so close but your smug attitude and arrogance hold you back. Good is the enemy of great and you are not close to great.

Ate in the tavern on December 23rd. Ordered a salad to split, my wife had the salmon which was very good and I had steak frites. The fall harvest salad was very disappointing. Was supposed to have pecans and apples in it but you needed a magnifying glass to find any. Dressing was very nondescript. I ordered my steak medium. It came out bloody red. Now, on this particular dish, they sliced the steak, so they should’ve seen that this was not even fairly cooked. The waiter took it back while my wife ate her meal, which was fine. About 15 minutes later my steak reappeared. It was cooked properly, but they kept the same french fries that I got with my original order which were now cold. My wife had finished her meal and I wasn’t going to send it back again. The sauce that came with the steak was also flavorless. The service was very good, but for $100 not including alcohol you would expect a little more. It wasn’t busy. Don’t know if I’ll be going back. I’ve eaten there several times and I’ve never been overly impressed.
