Went to the store to return a shaker I bought(bought for a week and never opened the box). Lost my receipt, asked an African American lady, short hair with glasses, and a sliver VCA Alabama ring, if I can still returned it. She was very rude and said I can't. I asked her I am an member and if WS has purchase history on the system to track. She said with a very rude attitude that thats not how system works. There is no way the online system can find my purchase history. She also said neither my credit card purchase is a valid proof(u serious in 2025?????). So whatever I asked, the answer is NO, NO, NO.
Then I found my purchase history on the online system. She seemed not happy that I can return my thing. Then she opened the box, remove the paper inside the shaker, checked the item for like a century until the shaker is full of her fingerprints, just to make sure I have never used it. This lady definitely used this shaker more than I did because I never opened the box :p
Have some common sense please. If I used it, why there is original paper inside the shaker?
My advice to the store manager, go check your online return policy and provide your employees some common sense training on how to assist customers to return stuff. I have been a loyal customer in this store for almost 8 years and will never come back.

Jake at Williams Sonoma delivered one of the best customer service experiences that I’ve had in years. I called to check if an item was available for in-store pickup. Not only did he quickly and professionally confirm the details, but he also located the item at a nearby store, provided the address, phone number, and parking info, and even called ahead to let the other store know that I’d be reaching out. That level of care, attention to detail, and proactive follow-through is exactly why I’ve remained a loyal Williams Sonoma customer. Jake sets the high standard for exceptional customer experience.

Customer service is terrible. Instead of solving the problem, they are trying to get rid of it.

Absolutely unacceptable customer service experience at the Short Hills Williams-Sonoma this afternoon. My fiancé stopped at the Short Hills mall while at work this afternoon to pick up a KitchenAid as a gift for me.
Upon entering the store, he could immediately sense that the 3 female sales associates were alert & wary of his presence. The one associate that did approach him was very cold & off-putting, didn't seem happy to help him (while having no issue assisting the other customers), and just overall kind of aggressive. After retrieving the item he requested, she placed it on the counter & instructed him to grab it, rather than handing it to him/interacting with him. He continued to browse through the store, but felt as though the associates were keeping an eye on him & hovering, as if he was going to slip something into his pocket. Unfortunately, he was only able to get the name of the cashier that rang him out & not the associate that was assisting him (if you want to call it that). I hate to bring race into any conversation, but he was the only person of color in the store at the time, the associates & other customers in the store were Caucasian & were very obviously not receiving the same treatment.
We will not be returning to this location in the future or giving them our continued business. There are plenty of other, more pleasant Williams-Sonoma locations closer to our home. I would rather place an online order & wait to pick up in store than have to experience the lack of customer service at this storefront in the future just because they had stock on the item.

Terrible return policy! Bought an expensive pan and used it once and after less than a week, the general manager of the Short Hills store said they couldn’t return it because they considered it damaged and would not be able to sell it. What kitchen store wouldn’t allow customers to return products without first trying them out???!!
Rethink your return policy or negotiate better deals with your manufacturers!

Unacceptable Customer Service – Short Hills Store & Hotline Fail
I understand staffing is a challenge everywhere, but this is ridiculous. The staff at the Short Hills store was pushy and unhelpful, and the Customer Service hotline has been just as frustrating. My mom and I have been waiting weeks for a package that never arrived due to an employee typo. When they finally reshipped it, they made another typo, and now we can’t even track it!
What’s worse is that not one practical solution has been offered. Instead of taking responsibility, they’ve given us the runaround. As someone who works in management, I’m incredibly disappointed in how we’ve been treated—especially after our family has supported this brand for over 30 years. And after all this, they actually had the nerve to ask for a 5-star review. Unbelievable.
Goodbye, Williams Sonoma—hello, Crate & Barrel!

Terrible customer service. Rude, aggressive and unprofessional. Went to return a corkscrew today, 2/15 at 2:00 PM. Didn’t have receipt, but did have my debit card and bank receipt from the transaction, with the store name. In over 40 years of retail shopping have I ever misrepresented a transaction. In short, I was the purchaser on that date, at that store. Offered to let me choose a new item for equal or lesser value, but I’m stuck with the original product, which is junk. I didn’t return it because I decided I didn’t like the color. It was a terrible, poorly functioning product and it wasn’t even 60 days old. The manager (I assume) was so nasty I didn’t even bother to look around. I’m VERY reasonable and this is supposedly a high-end store. For a $53.00 corkscrew, you lost all my future business. Next time I’ll go to housewares at Kohl’s. Cheaper and ultimately, they value their customers more. Awful experience.

I went to make a return of a product I ordered online using a gift card. Multiple employees at the store told me that I had to have the original gift card I purchased the item with (which I did) and that it would take 24 hours for the balance to return to the card. Over 24 hours had passed and the card balance was showing as zero. I called the store back to ask them why and they told me they couldn't help me... even though their the ones that processed the return. I ended up calling customer service and it turns out that the policy I was told in the store wasn't the policy at all and I would have to wait 2 weeks to receive another gift card by mail and it was shipping to the original shipping address which I don't even live at! I'm beyond furious because the associates in the store were completely misinformed and no help when their misinformation led me to have my gift card money go missing.

It was too cold today to go shopping, so I let my fingers do the walking at
WilliamsSonoma.com
I selected a glass beverage dispenser, wine bottle stoppers, and a paper towel holder with a matching canister. Williams Sonoma, online or in the retail store, is a one-stop shop for lovely, entertaining gifts.

I visited Williams Sonoma in short hills, NJ four years ago and I have been waiting for this long before I post a review because I don’t usually post negative reviews that could hurt the retailer’s business. My experience with Williams Sonoma and their associated retailers have been consistently bad over the years that I have decided to speak against their racism. Let me start with Williams Sonoma in short hills. I visited the store along with my 2 yr old kid and my husband and we were the only colored family who were at the store at that time. We could immediately sense the salesmen getting wary of our entry and we could see them alerting each other with eye contact. To make things worse my toddler who still didn’t have a good balance knocked on a stainless steel item while toddling around the isles which made a noticeable noise. I could clearly see a salesperson alerting another to keep an eye on us and the salesman who was appointed with the task started following us wherever we went. Under the disguise of fake politeness, he made sure he did his part to make us feel very uncomfortable. Needless to say, that was my first and last visit to Williams Sonoma. Though it felt very insulting to see someone assume that we are there to steal something just by our appearance (we were in appropriate attire for a store and in fact my husband was in informal business attire), we decided to let it go.Few months later, we went to Crate&Barrel and experienced the exact same thing (salespeople hovering all over us leaving everyone else in the store alone). Trust me, if they had treated us the same way they treated all other customers at the store that time, we would have bought a $5000 solid wood breakfast table we loved in that store. Our experience in Pottery Barn hasn’t been so bad but West Elm showed their elitism. My intention here is not to brag about our affordability, we would fall under upper middle class category and we are a family of engineers. We have no reason to steal anything from these stores. Their well hidden racism hurts and we have decided NEVER to shop in these stores ever again.

I don’t leave reviews ever, but I could not help myself because of how awful the cashier was to my father and I. we did not even get the items we wanted because how how rude she was! she accused us of cutting the line even though there was no line to begin with, she tried to get us to go to the back of the line, again we did not cut a line and it’s like we are pre school aged children. my father put the two glasses down on the register and said “I’ll just leave these here” and she loudly said “YUP ILL HOLD THEM FOR YOU” and rolled her eyes. couldn’t have been more of an awful experience.
