Yesterday was very difficult for me. I had to make the unwanted decision to put my sweet furry baby down. The doctor was so kind, patient and understanding. I hope Haylee is running around in the meadow free from sickness. Thank you to the staff for their loving consideration.

What a wonderful staff! I took my mom's cat to be put down and everyone was nothing but kind and accommodating. I appreciated the gentleness and patience because putting a pet down is one of the most difficult things that you can do. A big thank you for easing the process.

Thank you for the compassion you showed me and my boyfriend yesterday for our kitten we lost. You didn’t even know our names, you sprung into action and ran outside and took him inside to the vet and let us stay in a room. I appreciate the kindness you showed during such a difficult time for us. I will be forever grateful.

First I will start off by saying I am not that person who wastes time writing meaningless reviews , makes petty criticisms on yelp or any of these platforms, However , the experience I had with cedarbrook vet hospital is something that will actually haunt me for the rest of my life . It’s something I will always remember , and will never have peace with. Therefore I have feltcompelled to share my story, our experience.Walking into cedarbrook animal hospital June 5 at 230 with my sweet 70lb English bulldog , Buddha . I knew in my heart he was starting to decline rapidly and this most likely wasn’t going to be a good visit . But nothing could have prepared me or my ex husband for what we were about to endure . Short of breath and barely able to walk ,my ex lifted him up and carried him into the animal hosp as my eyes started to fill up with tears. Any dog owner knows that although they are “just dogs” they are and will always be a part of our family. and when they pass they take memories of our entire lives with them. Just like lost relatives, we never forget them. The unconditional love that Buddha gave to my family and I even through our worst times is something that is truly priceless. Something that most humans could never do. So to me this was gut wrenching anddevastating to watch him struggle.Sitting in the waiting room anxiously watching him gasp for air to breathe we were called back to one of the exam rooms. The vet entered the room as she reviewed his records. After conversing for about a half hour it was decided that my sweet little boy was suffering from cancer. Unsure of what kind or where but the previous labs and all his symptoms pointed in that direction. The inevitable was approaching but I opted for more blood work just to be sure. As it was a week prior that he had his first draw of blood. Hoping to put my mind at ease that we were making the right decision. The techs returned to draw his blood and this is when it started. Lifeless and too weak to move, he was continuously stuck with a needle, at least 18 times. Unable get blood they call in a backup to try to retrieve the sample. (note that I am a nurse. I know what it’s like to draw blood or place IVs. I’ve done it for years I have missed IVs, veins have rolled , Ivs have blown , things have not always gone perfect. I whole heartedly understand this.)However under no circumstance would I continue sticking a needle into someone continuously that many times and not ask for help . . No where in medicine have I watched the same person stick a human 18 times in a row . Back up is always called for fresh eyes . So why was it ok Today ? Because he is “ just a dog “ because he’s not even moving !?? because he’s too weak ?! What makes that acceptable !??? There is nothingacceptable about that ! Seeing me getting upset, one of the techs asked if I wanted to leave the room … I objected as I continued to watch. Another two attempts by the back up person and success was made . 15 mins later, the blood work came back . As suspected Buddha was declining quickly as the blood work showed bleeding internally. Over come by emotion I knew what needed to be done. The vet sat there waiting for a decision.

Was calling around for a new vet. Called cedar brook and they wanted 60.00 just to hold an appointment. Not impressed. Was looking for a vet with a little compassion and not just looking to rip me off. I guess I called the wrong place. My opinion. It's not my problem that other people don't show up for their appointments.

I really love this practice! I have been bringing my fur babies here for 3+ years & they have always been great. Front desk staff is very knowledgeable when I have questions. All of the doctors are great! Dr. Retkowski is always great! I usually have her for my dogs annual visits. Dr. Hegeman did my kittens neuter & my baby is doing amazing!! The incision was small & flawless, it healed up awesome! They brought on another doctor, Dr. Lehman, & I absolutely LOVE her! I’ve seen her twice so far. Once with my kitten & another with my Great Dane boy for an emergency. She listens to my concerns & has answer for a possible solution. I’ve been complaining of my Danes allergies since he’s been a puppy.. The allergies aren’t just seasonal, maybe worse when the season changes, but he’s always had an issue. She listened to me, put him on an allergy medication, & now he’s a happy boy. I haven’t had him on it super long yet but I can already see the difference with less itching, biting, & even licking his paws.Thank you Cedarbook team. You are the best!
