While vacationing in the area, I had to stop by and pick up some items for my dog. Everything i needed was in stock, although in few quantities. Nevertheless, a big store, clean and friendly staff. Make your points count using petsmart's rewards perks card. Big shopping center with plenty of parking spaces available.

PetSmart Dog Grooming - Somers Point, NJ. I’ve had my GoldenDoodle groomed at various PS locations in South Jersey. They showed me the sample chart displaying how short to trim his coat and I requested slightly longer than the middle. It’s January and I think he looks like an alien if it’s too short. They didn’t reference a numerical scale at all. He had a little shallow matting in normal places. They scalped him to the point you need to brush him against the grain to get his hair up and even then it’s difficult to grab his hair with tweezers. I’m guessing they made a mistake somewhere and tried to even him out. They also looked at his grooming history and put a special handling fee on. This was from his first ever grooming years ago so naturally he was not used to it. When I asked about the fee afterwards they referred to his past grooming but didn’t say anything about his behavior this time. He gets groomed quarterly at home or various PS locations. He is used to it. And especially bc they didn’t report any issues afterwards it seems they are using any excuse to up-charge him. This is the first and last at Somers Point because when I complained they refunded but asked me not to come back to that location. Why would I want to? If I could give them zero stars I would. Avoid this location!!! Very small and inexperienced staff that don’t know what they’re doing. PS needs to provide documentation to the customer about the selected trim level at check-in and also label their trim selection chart so there is less confusion. In my case they claim the cut he got was in the middle but it clearly was not. Next time I’ll take before and after photos as well as a photo of the selected trim level.I guess there was a reason I could get a grooming appointment so soon. Avoid this location and be careful.

They did a fantastic job on trimming my golden retrievers. They really freshened them up into new dogs. They were so happy after getting their trimmings. Claws were cutback just right. I hope Petsmart recognizes and rewards their employees considering the amount of other groomers in the area.
