Mark Murphy’s Music is a great music school that celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023. It provides the South Orange, Maplewood, and surrounding communities with the highest quality musical education and instruction available for all ages and levels. The university-educated faculty provides lessons for piano, guitar, voice, electric bass, uke, drums, sax, clarinet, and flute. The faculty is nothing but outstanding and incredible. Teachers are patient, kind, supportive, and encouraging. They tailor lessons to student interests, teaching cool songs while building skills, and spark a love of music and performing. The growth in students’ ability and musical knowledge is amazing to watch. The staff and entire vibe of the studio is warm, friendly, and welcoming. It is so much more than a school; it is a community of fantastic, talented people dedicated to the joy of sharing and teaching music. Everyone sincerely strives to ensure a positive and rewarding experience. The school continues to grow, with additions like a recording studio and audio engineering lessons. It is highly recommended for anyone looking for a music school, whether for children or adults taking lessons at any level.
Our daughter has been taking voice/piano lessons and performing in the band program at MMM for several years. The growth in her ability and musical knowledge has been amazing to watch. The faculty at MMM is nothing but outstanding and has really sparked her love of music/performing.

Our son has taken guitar lessons with Nic for two years. The experience has been excellent; Nic is patient and kind, and the lessons are the right mixture of theory and fun riffs. Highly recommend!
