I had a very poor experience at this particular branch. I approached the teller and asked her for a cashiers check. She verbally told me that ‘we dont do cashiers checks’. When I proceeded to ask her when did this go into effect, she asked me if I had an account at Valley Bank. Now let’s be clear — I hold a mortgage account and a checking account with Valley. I told her yes and handed her my DL. She asked me for my account number and proceeded to process my request. The teller messed up my cashier check twice by misspelling my name. If she would’ve just slowed down, took her time and actually paid attention to what she was doing then I wouldn’t have had to spend over 30mins in the bank trying to get a simple cashiers check. She then proceeded to get others to help her — and to no avail no help came until 20 mins into me waiting. The manager that was on duty saw what was going on and offered no apology to me for this mishap. She didn’t even acknowledge me or the excessive time this matter was taking. It wasn’t until I specifically asked to speak with her about this inexcusable service I received. It’s unfortunate the poor level of customer service I received here and the misinformation I was given regarding cashier checks ! I will go out of my way to continue going to the Bloomfield location instead of this location. South Orange location is poorly ran and the favoritism in customer service bleeds through each employee. Every customer deserves to receive the same level of service regardless of race, age, etc. !

After reading the last reviews I have changed my mind about opening an account at this bank. I need a Banker, that at the least, shows emphathy or concern should things go wrong. I don't see where this current Manager fits the bill.

I went to the drive- up ATM intending to withdraw $800. After putting my card in, entering my pin, the withdrawal amt, etc., a few seconds later a Processing Error message appeared on the screen, which said the process could not be completed. Thinking nothing of it (other than the machine is out of order) I went back to my car only to find a notification on my phone that the $800 which the ATM NEVER DISPENSED WAS STILL WITHDRAWN FROM MY ACCT!!!!!! Worried, I called the branch and explained to a representative what happened, asking for help, she told me to come inside, which I did. I went inside and politely spoke to manager, Anthony Basso, unfortunately Anthony was very standoffish and was of no help. He literally told me he couldn't help me. That I needed to dispute it with my bank. Of course a dispute was going to be made with my bank. I came in there for help on their end. He didn't ask me for my name, he didn't ask me which ATM, he didn't offer to look into it more, or anything. He was dismissive. He showed no concern or compassion for what happened at the bank he manages. When someone is advising the MANAGER that the ATM malfunctioned and kept their $800, and is quickly dismissed, with no help, that is a problem. Working in the customer service field myself, I am sure there is a much better protocol that Anthony Basso could have and should have followed, rather than treating me like what happened, didn't happen. Or it wasn't important. I expected him to offer to look at the cameras, which will confirm the ATM never dispensed my $800, and/or write up an incident report. If he couldn't do that right then and there, then at least take my name and information, and have someone above him contact me..SOMETHING. He did nothing. He didn't even bother to put a note on the ATM to let others know that it was faulty. As I sat there in my car in shock of all that had just happened, a few different people were about to use the same ATM but my daughter was able to warn them that the machine was faulty as there was no note or display on the screen to let people know, ahead of time. I called the bank again, the same lady, who initially told me to come in, answered ...and brushed me off. Almost like she was instructed to. I just could not drive away without some kind of resolution, so I called the police for help. The police officer arrived, we went inside, the police officer spoke to Anthony. His response was "I can't magically give her $800." The problem is I never asked him to. I did not go in there asking for money. I asked for help. Things have to be proven, which is why I asked him to look at the cameras. The police officer even asked him to look at the cameras.... he wouldn't.I spoke to a customer service representative in the call center, although she couldn't do much on her end, at least she was empathetic and she apologized for the way I was treated and advised that more should have been done for me at the branch. I will let police and detectives do what they do and go from there. If you don't want to feel discriminated against, looked down on or dismissed, when it comes to YOUR MONEY....stay away from this branch!!!!

The banker Anthony Basso said a cashier's check from Wells Fargo was likely fake and "looked like it was printed out at home" He said there would be a fraud investigation that would take an indefinite amount of time but suggested I contact the police. Walked down the street to Wells Fargo and they quickly verified the checks authenticity. There are a bunch more details that make this story even worse. Total nightmare, will never use this bank again.

Worst customer service I've ever seen anywhere. Hidden fees and deductions that are fraudulent. Do not bank here. Yvonne, one of the managers, was ruder than any employee I've ever encountered anywhere, ever. I've NEVER had a person talk to me in such a condescending way. And this happens again and again. They have absolutely zero pandemic safety, care for community and regularly flat out day one thing , then do another. Go somewhere else. It's a sinking ship.

I always get quick and friendly service here. I used to have my main business account at the BOA on South Orange Avenue, but the service there was slow and awful (never more than one teller at a time!) so I finally switched to Valley about a year ago, and have been very pleased. In any event, it seems the BOA in South Orange closed in March and has still not reopened, so I plan to switch all my accounts to Valley.

The ATM in the back of the bank does not have a bright enough light for the night usage. It can be a dangerous and frightening experience.

Professional, kind, patient, thorough, genuinely friendly - couldn't ask for a better place to bank or for more wonderful people to work at that bank. I come in weekly and it is a true neighborhood bank.

Always had a good experience at this location when opening accounts for my family. The service was fast and friendly. I mostly use the ATMs and they are always working.
